Such an incredible performer. He walked out there belted out the hits and standards an I never even saw him take a sip of water or sit down. Never even broke a sweat! Never Ever misses a lyric, never misses a beat, and always perfectly in tune, A pure soul styled singer and crooner and 100% professional. A one of a kind voice. Also has a great band leader and a very tight group of professional musicians. All of the things that can be taken for granted. The effortless delivery, the command of the material and that incredible instrument of a voice. We miss you Lou Rawls but at least we have performances like this available to us all these years later that we can watch basically for free. What a great artist and man. Thanks for posting.
WOW! What a great video.. I am a number one fan of Mr Lou Rawls R.I.P. I could listen to him all day long..he had the smoothness ,the class That voice so rich, he made each song his own. I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert each time he came to the UK and everytime I took with me someone different, they all have been converted to listening to L.R. I would have loved to have been at this concert in Newport, the weather, the scenary, and Lou Rawls...just perfect. ⚘⚘
The mold was broken after this man was made. Such an artist that we don't see today. It saddens me because Lou Rawls is too often looked over and forgotten. Such a tragedy because not many can hold a candle to his style, his voice presence, his lyric ability.... Very few then and even fewer now. God Bless Mr. Rawls. Do yourself the favor and go back and listen to Fine Brown Frame and attempt to deny he isn't in a class of his own.
RIP LOU I SAW HIM AT HILTON HOTEL 1976 WITH A GIRL FRIEND THEN SHE LOVED ME ALL NIGHT LONG .. HOW CAN I FORGET MR. RAWLS. THEN SHE BOUGHT ME THE LADY LOVE RECORD STILL HAD IT TILL NOW.
How can I put this? Frank was Frank and only Lou was Lou! Lou taught us a lot- including see your Doc and get your exams regularly. Thanks! Best of times.
Singers Al Jarreau and Johnny Mathis were almost certainly gay, but surprisingly Lou Rawls was straight.... however his numerous affairs cost him his marriage, so it seems you can't win either which way :)
A better question What any of those Successful Recording Artists sexually Preferences has to do With MR.LOU RAWLSr.i.p.Live Concert Performance or marital status?

Musicians should be recognized. Where are their names?
Don't know all the musicians, but that's Bud Revels on the tenor sax and next him is altoist Jay Branford.
I think is the great David T Walker on guitar, master that we don't ear on the mix... its a shame.
I know that David T Walker, one of the greats, is on guitar. Ya! What a group of musicians that it be.
David T Walker: Guitar, Jeff Colella: Piano, Dwight D: Vibes, Kenny Elliott: Drums, Curtis Robertson, Jr: Bass, HB Barnum: Musical Director
Hum¡¡¡¡ Jazz music!!!

Is that H.B. Barnum conducting?
Yep! Sure is!
LOU WAS AS GOOD AS FRANK S, I THINK HE WAS MORE SOULFUL AND GROOVIER THAN FRANK, FRANK WAS MORE INTO ROMANTIC SONG NOT R AND B
