Literally one of the hardest profession, a jazz performer. I feel privileged to just sit back and listen to these awesome musicians. Class act as always Mr Wynton 👌🎺
Its hard to prepare, its hard to stay calm, its hard to study but the reason they're succsessfull is because they found the pathway learn it all and now its easy to play.
I love Jazz. As a child lived on a small farm in England. I had only ever seen my parents work. Then, one day, dad arrived from the fields, took his mud caked working boots off as he entered our farmhouse kitchen. Glen Miller's 'In the Mood' was on the radio (wireless then!). Footwork as he danced Mum round the kitchen table would have made Fred Astaire jealous. And he 'led' mum! It is a strong memory for self and sister. My first step into loving jazz. A true gift of the gods in my humble opinion. Haha. I am not humble. X
@@susangratwick5327 thanks for sharing. Funny enough Glenn Millers in the mood is one of my favourite jazz tunes today, I listen to it all the time on Spotify, will do so this evening in your dads honour 🥂
+Luke Conklin Brilliant bass solos, beautifully suited to the music. I usually feel bassists are given solos just so they won't feel left out, and the solos tend to be annoying interludes. Not in this case. Carlos Henriquez -- a force to be reckoned with.
Jazz gets into the deep of my soul, and with it's chaotic way to be, makes me full of tears. In other words, Jazz is not just music, is much more than that
I've been a fan of Wynton Marsalis since I was 12 years old, learning how to play the trumpet. I saw him twice last year in concert in New York and he is amazing. I will always be his fan.
I love this concert an I may have been there. Ali Jackson on his Hi-Hat just did a Max Roach rendition of a rudiment he"Max" used to perform. Thank you Ali for bring back the greats.
R.D. Dragon told us, 2 years ago, the Lineup from Wynton's website: Ali Jackson: drums, Carlos Henriquez: bass, Dan Nimmer: piano, Walter Blanding: tenor sax
I know this video is old. First, let me say that group is on fire. Wynton is my idol. The sound engineer did something weird with the balance...I think he turned the horn mics down or something. Very heavy on the percussion section, so the solos got buried. Anyway, I think I saw fire during Dan solo in "Free to Be".
Quando il ritmo comunica profondamente il jazz emerge nella pulizia d'ellaminno umano verso coloro che apprezzano il genere le note si intrecciamo il corpo ne beneficia il carattere si allarga nel bene !!
How come performances like this don't get 10 even 50 million ? My answer. There are not that many people with that kind of musically open mind. I don't care what anyone says. Please continue your music. Its written in the stone some day in the future it will earn its rightfull place.

Thank you

It is not hard for the jazz artists because in that group they all know how to improvise and they all know how to solo and still be n'sync
@@lindalawon9151 you think that's all ? :)))))

Bassist is on fire. So is everyone else. Excellent

Bravo à tous le pianiste est très fort andree
but he is kinda out of tune

A concert to be remembered!
Indeed Ron!
Thank you so much Wynton. According to me you're the best teacher i found, up to now. Looking at you playing, is the best lesson(s). Thank you.
My dog is enjoying the music as well. She was so hyper this morning but once the boys started groovin, she laid down chillaxin.

...he Plays Good, tho!
P.S. (fuck you!)
ive watched the whole thing a thousand times… pure mastery!
I like the way he just walks in starts to play, without fuss, but looking classy.
He got that from Miles. Period.
Carlos Henriquez (Bass) is the Real Deal!
He has a real Mingus thing happening. Rare to hear.
Simply marvellous! Team Wynton Marsalis, a genre by itself, the classic version of jazz.
@@zqa12swx Can neither un-see nor un-hear it now you said it. Something in his demeanor...

I wish I could have been at this concert..I love Marsalis music and I love the Newport Venue!!!
Exceptional we do not have many young musician like him, love to see him live in concert. Alec Petrossian.
Wynton's face with the chromatic line at 18:06 is incredible
David Lewis I don't play so could you explain why he looked so aghast at nimmer?
That's feeling the music right there.
Because Dan quoted Red Garland's intro to "It Never Entered My Mind" from Miles Davis' Workin with the Miles Davis Quintet. Hip
This is one fukking brilliant set.
Why it doesn't have 10 million views is totally beyond me.

Fantastic! Each artist sooo great n wonderful!
A touch a class.
totally amazing,unbelievable!
Thật là ngưỡng mộ. Tôi ước sao ở Việt Nam chúng tôi có 1 buổi nhạc JAZZ ngoài trời như thế này.
Walter blandingggg bruuuhh. that solo on "free to be" made me cry .
His opening on Free To Be .. in fact his tonal concept - reminds me of a Highland bagpipe.

Absolutely sensational !

Excelentes músicos... Com excelente jazz..e que sutileza.
Primera vez que lo escucho después de escuchar un discurso a cerca de la enseñanza, fuuuuu! Ese nivel de musicalidad increíble!
I LOVE this piano playing, a bit sloppy but so creative and delicious!
House,
Thanks for your comment and great ear.
I was thinking that perhaps the pianist has rolled the mild sloppiness into his own style?
Many wish they could play sloppy like that. This ain’t chamber music.
@@swordoff7 Maybe! He seems so much into the music, he doesnt care much about details!

That 1st solo the pianist takes is some swinging shit !
