Absolutely. You're hitting the nail on the head with this video. I remember when I got into photography originally I thought - ah if only I buy this next expensive lens - I'll be an amazing photographer. Thankfully the guy who got me into photography saved me a ton of money by saying I should just go with the native lens I had for a few months before throwing any more money out. Many years later I'm still a mediocre photographer, but I don't have to live under a bridge, because of blowing all my money on lenses in the first days of excitement. And it's exactly the same thing with Zbrush.

I started in Blender & now I'm having a hard time getting comfortable in ZBrush. If I could do it all over again, I would just start with ZBrush. I don't care about any of the other Blender features. I just want to sculpt for now. I guess it depends on what your goals are. I'm having to change a lot of settings in ZBrush to feel more comfortable navigating the Ui. I do a whole LOT more Googling than sculpting at this point. I'm glad they added sticky keys for changing the brush size because I like the auto-sizing of the brush in Blender rather than dragging an annoying slider around. (Still hate the slider being in the way though) I have a tendency to like whatever I start with more than anything else, unfortunately. I am aware that ZBrush has many more features, but the clunky Ui is super old school, circa 2001, to me. I will continue to make menus & customize what it will allow me to. If you are like me, start with Core Mini so you get used to the interface at least. lol

for me its the other way round, I wish I had started with blender. The reason being is blender has so many great free tutorials that help you understand the fundamentals of 3D modelling and on top of that with its UI being so much easier to understand, you can just get started with making things much sooner, without feeling like you are constantly fighting against the software and hitting roadblocks that stop you from being able to further create.... Zbrush is just such a horribly unintuitive beast to to get to grips with... even the simplest things like the mesh being named a 'tool' just makes things so confusing as a newbie. IMO learn the fundementals in blender then transition over to Zbrush... if you really want to take organic sculpting to another level. Honestly though blender for things like hardsurface modelling,is vastly superior with add ons.. zmodeller is horribly slow in comparison.

Yes, Blender has some great sculpting tools; probably enough for the casual user. Yet, there is no other software on Earth like ZBrush. Nothing matches its capabilities. It's built for artists to make art as quickly and easily as possible. Once you're accustomed to the UI, you can move nearly unencumbered. It is a fast and efficient path to creation. Blender has some tools that can accomplish a lot of things, but not with the efficiency and completeness of ZBrush.

Blender 3 has brought sculpting even closer to being a zbrush competitor.
Personally, I have worked in Blender since 2.8 launched.
I came from Maya and 3DS Max.
      Hated Blender 2.79.
After 2 months, I switched fully to Blender.
I also tried the ZBrush 2 week trial.
At first it was awesome, but I actually caught a tutorial for MWSculpt (I think that's how to spell his channel).
He did a video on a free plugin he made for sculpting.
That pie menu addin honestly made me end up not wanting to pay for zbrush.
It made for a much faster workflow and I was able to crank out my sculpts quite a bit faster.
I just installed his add-in a week ago.
Don't get me wrong, ZBrush was nice, but I couldn't justify paying that price when Blender was working extremely well.
Also, get used to the multires modifier.
I went from being able to handle roughly 8 million polys on my computer while sculpting in Blender to over 20 million.
( I don't normally have that many, I was just stress testing Blender and my PC).

So the question is which of two, should be our choice, we are not interested in animation or movies, just creating sculpts that can be 3d printed with a quality finish.

They would retain and invite more costumers to them not by taking away purchasing options in the most shady way software companies can - by going subscription only, which is grossly becoming the norm - but by actually making a mid range product available again to be affordable and keep interest in the product.
