I won't use ai in my pieces as I'm morally against it, however I've finally stopped caring and worrying about it as much. I'm going on to become an art teacher and I'm going to further my own skills and knowledge while doing that. I'll sell art on the side, and maybe even publish something one day, while I do think AI art is a net negative in the long term. It won't stop me from achieveing my own art goals.

ive been a 3d artist for year and im all for a.i , 3d models are just so time intensive and only for technical reasons , now with a.i instead of limiting myself to small projects for at mosts a 10 -15 models that i could pump out myself before running out of time and money i can instead have to power of ubisoft or blizzard for my indie project can finaly focus on the artistic side of thing without having to downgrade the art style for time restraints , i wish people would get over the fear and hate for a.i

As an individual with a fanciful imagination but who has never been able to draw on paper or computers.... being able to describe a vision in the English language I know pretty well, and then see a visual representation of that is one of the cooler things I have experienced. Custom DND and other RPG/video game character portraits in particular.

I have a rudimentary approach on AIs. I see them as an opportunity to get a working prototype done more quickly as an individual developer, whether it's a concept sketch, getting 3D placeholders, and having piece of code that moves the whole thing. Without AI, I could not succeed at all (I already have another job). So I translate it more as an opportunity instead of an obstacle. If it helps me get a saleable product, with the profit made I could hire artists and coders to get even better products. On the other hand, if AI turns out to be a flop, it means that all the complaining from 2 years until the next 2 years has only been worth it to monetize it on youtube or to waste time. Lastly, the ethical issue of “intellectual theft” matters relatively to me, because those who raise it the most are those who until yesterday were proud champions against intellectual property and yet today talk like a Walt Disney's lawyer when they see pics generated by Stable Diffusion.

Good points, there is also the probability that this bubble bursts and at least levels out, things are crazy right now, but I've seen nothing much that is good enough, or at least only pale comparisons to pro work, the limitations are still huge, only professional artists can fix that. The only people I have come across that are staunch advocates have been people that don't actually have any skills in the field (CG), that can't actually tell if its good or not.

I just do what I like. Even if I am unemployed and will remain so 🤷‍♂

Happy New Year! You know the funniest part? People afraid of "AI" because they believed marketing. They believe that "it is inevitable", that "it will get better", that "it will replace jobs". But if they just take a little closer look at it they would see quite a different view. They would see technology that quickly got better but then plateaued. They would see inability (perhaps even impossibility) to fix so called "hallucinations". They would see inability in getting it profitable in any way. Finally they would see unfulfilled promises by those "AI" companies and that those promises are always years away no matter how many years passes. Not only "AI" isnt as good as advertised - its not even true AI... EXCELLENT advice. While worrying about some buggy software to replace us maybe eventually we will be replaced by other person who took time and effort to get better. Great speech btw! Greetings from Mexico!

The issue isn't going to be AI so much, as getting corporate folks to catch on to the nuances needed for art/design today. I'm going to work Monday not knowing if my job got completely outsourced to North Africa (not joking). Leveraging outsourcing and riding out the wave of the AI bubble that is about to bust is going to be a challenge. Jordan Peterson and Sir Roger Penrose had an interesting (albeit difficult) conversation on how AI is not capable of consciousness because in their view, consciousness cannot be based solely on calculation, which I find very interesting!

Came here one year later because I've been a Blender user, but not having the Alt key for the modeling portion of blender really bogs down the work flow. This solves that problem in a very easy way that still makes a lot of sense, especially since I've been working in Nomad a lot. Thank you for this.
