We try grow chickpeas n lentils but soon as heads comes through WHAM a heavy frost kills the crop. Looks like nice n dry, unfortunately we stop sowing because heavy rain. Some tractors with airseeder are starting to get bog down, it going be tough season.

hi mike i came across your youtube channel a few months back still going thought the videos.
its great to see how you guys farm. i started working on a farm in the uk when i was 11 and was full time at 16. it was nowhere near the size of your farm tho, could get the whole farm in one of your fields lol our biggest field was 120 acres . we grew winter barley, wheat, beans, oilseed rape (what you call canola) and spring barley, beans and canola. i quit after 19 years wish i was still there its a great way of life.
anyway just want to say thanks for showing us what you do, brings back a lot of memories.
shame about the combine by the way amazing how quick that went up.
hope you have a good harvest and stay safe.

What ratio of land does the family own compared to rent as in my area as more farmers retire they rent their land out to younger farmers who certainly keep getting bigger.
In our west central area of Saskatchewan we unfortunately still have crops to combine from last year before we can even consider planting this springs crop.
I understand the “Peace Country” in northern Alberta has a “TON” of crop to still get off this spring that never got combined last fall.
A few years back one of my brothers in law in SE Saskatchewan went two seasons without getting any crop in at all due to the fields being two wet in the spring to get the equipment into the fields.

Thanks for your videos! I've recently found yours and a few other farm video channels and can't help be in awe of the amount of land you guys are farming! Here in Maryland we are losing farm land at a frightening pace to housing developments and commercial development. It's rapidly getting to the point where there are only a handful of large scale farmers in our area that lease a few thousand acres each with fields scattered all over the surrounding counties. Has been cool to see how technology has changed the face of farming over the past few years and to see the difference in the size of the equipment between what is typically used around here to what you are using in your operation. Keep up the great work. Always look forward to seeing new videos of what you and the others have been up to.

so , i only read the title, and I comment before watching the video. Mike Mitchell is a person that drives farming equipment, on the north coast of the American continent, He is also a teacher, teaches some us that food does not simply come from the store, yes I know that one shattered me too. He uses his wit and humor to get his message across. I personally find him to be a "stellar" individual. Keep up the good work Mike

First off love the content and your way of explaining/entertaining. Just a couple questions, 1. How many acres does your family farm? (I know the Welkers say they have roughly 10,000 so I'm guessing you guys are MUCH bigger) 2. Does your fiancee come from a farming background? Or did she start farming just to spend more time with you? I find it awesome that she is into farming and knows her stuff. My wife could care less about my job..lol.

    Hi mike, whats up man?
My name is Yossi. I'm 36 years old. I've been in agriculture for about my entire life. I live in a small town in southern of Israel. We have 6500 acres where we grow wheat for silage, wheat for grain, corn for silage, sweet corn for eating, potatoes, carrots onions and beets. We also have 125 acres of almonds and another 60 acres of peaches. I am the one responsible for the irrigation of all crops.
I recently started following you on UA-cam, and man I have to tell you I am living my dream through your videos .. I think you are a great farmer. I really enjoying watching your videos, even my 6 year old daughter sometimes sits with me and we see your videos together. My dream is to work on a farm just like yours.

Hello Mr. Mike.... first thing, I'm a big fan of most crop and dairy farm videos on UA-cam, you're all doing an amazing job in your own sector. Question, do you ever plow with a bottom or rollover plow like we do in Europe, before chisel plowing, disking or cultivating farmers always use that type of plow first, I know you have lots of rocks in your fields but is that the reason. I love seeing Ashtyn on that big Fendt 1050, they are both an amazing combination .... 😉😂
    Hi from the Netherlands.

Hey, no we can't do that.. The little bit of tillage we would do is like working up some slough bottoms

Nice job on this video Mike, I'm a retired Rancher west of Williams Lake, B.C. A big field for us is 60 Ac. and no straight lines. From the time I was a kid I always dreamed of being able to drive straight for more than 15 Min, and auto steering well. I'm jealous. Cheers to you and your, Billy in B.C.

I like the details. You usually explain things pretty well. I've never seen a 84ft. Very interesting.

Great videos Mike! My kids and I really enjoy your videos. They can’t believe the size of the equipment and the size of fields you have. My youngest boy keeps asking me when we are going to get a air drill that size. I keep telling him our 30ft air drill is big enough for the fields we have here in Ontario. Look forward to the next video. Also nice you tell us the real side of Ag

Good Saturday afternoon Mike.. Thank you for the background information. Congratulations on being a 3rd generation farmer ❤️
I'm tuning in to reconnect to my growing up on a family farm. Originally from Minnesota, there are very few large farms in New Hampshire 😳 I miss the flat plains!
