- Welcome to GamingSins, where I nitpick the hell out of video games.
Well, took me long enough. That's what happens when Persona 5 and Monster Hunter World consume your life. Anyways, Resident Evil 7 surprised me by returning the franchise to its survival horror roots and just so happened to end up being a damn good game. Man, sometimes it feels great to be proven wrong. But of course, that doesn't mean it's free from sin. So here they are.

I actually live in Louisiana and I think that the opening scene where Ethan is walking through the forest and everything is nasty and bugs are everywhere is pretty accurate to southern Louisiana.

Its the mother of all jump-scares and the camera-using
makes you sick, but
they also explain a relatively complex System for
the zombies and then forever and ever ignore it in
all ways possible. They set up rules
and break them so hard, its amazing.
But the most impressive thing for me personally was
someone saying as an explanation where he off-camera was,
that he was "in a bank, trying to improve his rent".
I cant stress enough how completly i thought this
to just be a joke.
But then he revelas he actually went to a Bank and
grabbed some small amount of dollars.
Holy Minecraft-Creeper, wow. Wow. Wow.
This movie is amazingly bad, even if you
normally dont look for Plot Holes, but
they jump into your face a lot.

The most unrealistic thing about this game is the fact that Ethan didn’t bring anyone with him to go search for his wife that’s been missing for 3 years. At the very least bring like a detective or law enforcement because nobody goes missing for no reason

Yeah, and besides, there _was_ a Grandma Baker, as seen in a picture in Lucas' escape room (which also explains where she got the wheelchair), so that obviously was her room at some point.

May be we never see him using during the game because there was no signal, remember Ethan was on the phone at the begining of the game, but it was before he reach the forest, to me it is clearly that he doesn't have any signal when he reach there so he didn't even try to use it again
To me it seemed more like thephone was retrieved for Ethan. Not only that but at the beginning of the game where Ethan is captured for dinner, the Bakers take away all of his shit, so of course they would take their cellphone as well, right?

To be fair, Ethan having hallucinations gave it away for me. I still haven't beaten RE8 (working on it!), but Ethan being a Molded is fairly obvious to me.
Not to diss on the writers or anything, I felt pretty excited when I realized that I'm infected during the endgame.

Dude this is 3 years old, but I’m so glad I found it. The fact that the burner does almost nothing against insect swarms drove me absolutely crazy.

I kinda assumed that the reason Zoe has so much autonomy compared to the others is because Eveline is placing each member of her ‘family’ into a role. Marguerite is Grandma, so she’s eccentric and obsessed with food. Jack as the ‘Daddy’ is strong and protects Eveline from all threats. Lucas is the aloof older brother, which is why he can go traitor unnoticed. And Zoe is the rebellious ‘teenager’, so she is more or less being allowed to rebel for the sake of the part Eveline has placed her in. Of course, that’s just my theory.

4:17 The best part? If you follow Andre to see where he goes, he goes through a doorway and around a corner and if you try to follow him you hit an invisible wall.
How was this not a sin? Also, when you are fallowing Mia after freeing her from her cell there is an invisible wall following her to prevent you from getting ahead of her.

I love how Both Dartigan and GCN introduced two different features regarding jump-scares in this game.
For Dartigan the Jump-Scare counter, and for GCN The Mario Death Transition At the same exact part in the game.

I make a little game out of seeing if they sin things for differing or similar reasons,seeing if one noticed something the other hadn't,and to see how many of the same jokes they'll make ( ex. the joke about Mia calling someone other than Ethan "Daddy"). My favs so far are their reviews of the "Life is Strange" series.
The best part is that they arent *new* features, both of them even explicitly say they need to "bring back" their jumpscare transitions.
Idk I think that that's a little strange that they both have a VERY similar script.

My problem with End of Zoe and the daughters dlc is that it brings up more questions to the plot, like how did Joe not know about the condition of his family over the three years they were infected, and why did the infection give Marguierite bug controlling powers.
I'm guessing they cut off all ties when eveline controls them?

The hardest part about making sins videos is that when you sin a game and you’re the last one to the finish line, you have to try and not use the same sins that other sin videos used. I respect that GCN and that is how you earned my subscription in the first place, keep doing what you’re doing.

Actually, the 30th sin has a perfect explanation:
Ethan normally getting hurt by falling down a ladder, that's self-explanatory. But later on, he got infected by Eveline's virus which gave the Infected better and faster healing as well as greater pain tolerance, as shown at every opportunity in the game by the Bakers themselves and Mia.

The mouth animation was a Japanese language. In the English version of the game it's literally spoken in English.

I've grown to love this game.. It took me several years though. The pace and lengthy cutscenes are testing, but it's really grown on me... Like a thick mould 😉

the most pathetic sins is the bad writing of the protagonist character. he lost his wife for three years and his reactions when he found her and when he killed her were non existent.
Whoever did the voice for Mia did an awesome job. Her yelling voice is terrifying and perfect for horror.

You kept talking about how Mia was working for the Connections. I believe that this isn't true. Lucas was working with the Connections, but Mia was working for Umbrella Corp. She was Eveline's caretaker and was in charge of making sure that The Connections, the organization that created her, didn't steal her back. Umbrella Corp was trying to develop a way to cure Eveline so that she wouldn't kill anyone, but Mia worked with Umbrella who was trying to fix everything even though the Connections created Eveline. This is why Chris Redfield knows so much about Eveline in The Last Hero DLC.
Ma Winters (ミア・ウィンターズ, Mia Wintāzu?) is a former operative for The Connections who worked covertly in the birth of Eveline, acting as her "caretaker" for her while covering up her career as a worker at a "trading company" to her husband, Ethan.
That 27th sin was really just a result of a joke going “wooosh” over your head.

"Best RE game I've played in a very long time" I do think 7 is great (except the enemy variety, the Molded eventually got too familiar and I wished there more different enemies), but Revelations 2 I hold in even higher regard, it's my 2nd favorite RE game (4 at #1 and REmake at #3). Revelations 2 tied more heavily into the RE plot (and a few of the plot twists were legit great), Claire and Moira have good character chemistry and of course you have Barry fucking Burton (only better RE character is maybe Leon) in the game, the partner system is well balanced, and playing it with co-op is a ton of fun. I really we get Revelations 3 eventually and it's just as solid as 2.

When I first played Revelations 2, I really enjoyed it. Upon a second and third playthrough (going for completion) - I would have rewrote that story quite a lot
I do think too that if RE wasnt to be much more closer to old-school RE, both Revelation are perfect example. I enjoyed them much more than re7 one.
My main problem with Revelations 2 is that document that upon reading it, any good RE character's red flag would have been raised up and waving frantically about the wolf in sheep clothing and how the decision made in the end was a bad one.
REmake is still my favorite, RE2 is my second favorite and 7 is my third. RE4 is at the top also, but I just love the classic RE gameplay (actual survival, limited ammo and health, fixed camera angles, actual horror instead of nonstop action). RE7 surprised the hell out of me with how good it turned out, despite the change to first person, RE7 still managed to feel like classic RE, it's the 1st sequel in years where I actually felt the tension and horror of the situation. Plus, it doesn't hurt that I'm a huge fan of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and parts of the game are heavily influenced by it and other films; Saw, Pet Sematary. RE7 felt like a true evolution of the classic, tried and true Resident Evil gameplay. Overall, the whole RE series is great, the only one I disliked was 6, however, I did like Leon's campaign.
