    Hello Foragers! An imposter called Telegram Me @ Catch n Cook CA is attempting to scam people in the comments! Please do not be fooled! I really wish people would just get a job rather than resorting to crime but this is the world in which we live. They have been reported, but in the meantime beware!

    Cool tip to save your fish if the weight gets snagged - tie it with a 10 lb test swivel. Small extra step that will save you a fish as the swivel will snap and the hook and upper rig will survive.

    I came here from fisherman’s life channel. Dude I really enjoyed that colab you did with him. I think I might’ve found my new favorite channel. As a fish and wildlife major It’s refreshing to see that someone actually knows what they’re talking about scientifically. Keep it up! Cheers

      Thanks Jacob! Glad you found us! My brother is a fisheries biologist so our broader friend-group conversations often revolve around topics of human interactions with the environment, fish and wildlife. A bit of anthropology, a bit of biology and a bit of ecology... I get to learn something new each time we all get together!

    Double meat animal style...lol
    I appreciate the instructional portion on the knots you used. I agree with you, the improved clinch knot is the only knot you need to master to fish anywhere. I've caught everything up to bluefin tuna on that knot. Yes, there are better knots out there but none as quick to use and master as the improved clinch knot.

    I also have been using that one knot all my life and I started fishing back in the 1970's, I know it as a 'fisherman's knot' and learned it off of the back of a lure box. It's about the only knot I ever use. Great video Kevin, Love your passion for the outdoors, and eating!

    There's a fine line between fishing and looking like an idiot.
    As someone who uses 12 lb mono main, I do like me some fine lines. Makes pulling in a big one more fun, can't force it, you have to play with the fish.
    That shore lunch looked amazing, can never go wrong with fried fish.

    💛...if you have leftover batter, the mushrooms would make a good tempura... or, hushpuppies... as far as the nettles go, i was out near a creek when i noticed the faint odor of mint...liking the fragrance of crushed mint, i reached out to grab a couple leaves...it wasn't mint...

    Is a salmon berry the same as a cloudberry?😅

    • @catchncookcalifornia1574
      @catchncookcalifornia1574  Рік тому +2

      I do not believe so but they are clearly closely related! Cloudberries seem adapted to produce low growing vegetation and rapid fruiting due to a short arctic growing season.

      It is good to let it cool and put back in the container. You can fry fish twice with it before it starts tasting old.
