This is by far one of the greatest information sources on the web for welding. I've been welding since I was 12 and I still learn new things from you. Keep up the great work Jody, Rock On!
I am still using the Lincoln Electric Power MIG 210 MP. I love it. The thing is solid I've done some really big jobs with it and never had any problems. It has capabilities of a much more expensive machine and if you take care of it this thing will do pretty much anything you needed to do. Aluminum stainless steel and anything in between
I just set up my machine for TIG welding with the foot pedal yesterday. It wasn't that difficult and it went together pretty easily with a pair of long needle nose and a flat head screwdriver. So far I really love this machine. I've done some stick welding with it and I'm getting ready to do my first TIG weld with it this morning
@@rafaelsuarez7103 absolutely. Main thing is just practice as much as possible and pay attention to your settings. The settings are 75% of the battle. Take it slow and practice as much as possible.
Im a beginner in welding and I watch most of your videos, i think I would be helpful for people who is learning to know the settings that you use in every exercise :)
I love my 210mp, after getting everything sorted out on it it works great.. . Only real gripe is how loud the fan is, but I have never overheated it even after burning a 5 pound box of 7014 without stopping... I have recently started playing with the tig feature aswell but without the foot pedal and have made some pretty nice welds but it seems like the pedal is the way to go...
I bought the Lincoln 210 knowing I had to take it apart if I wanted to TIG . Unfortunate to say the least , and not really a vote of confidence from Lincoln design wise . I wasn’t going to bother , but after watching you I really want to learn .Thank you for your videos , very inspiring
Looking forward to seeing your MIG and stick videos on this machine. I own one and it has performed flawlessly in both MIG and stick (haven't done TIG yet). I punished mine on a heavy duty MIG project running at near full capacity for hours on end and never once hit the duty cycle. The recommended MIG settings seem to be a little cold. I usually just put it in manual CV mode and dial in my own settings. Smoothest stick arc around.
Hi Jody, Another well put together video. Up until a few months ago I had zero knowledge about welding. After pricing out the costs involved in having a new frame manufactured for one of my little vintage Boler trailers I decided to purchase a welder and learn how to do it myself. In addition I signed up at the local Technical School here in Calgary, AB, Canada to take an introductory GMAW course. I find the combination of being able to view your closeup videos and the hands-on experience with the instructors to be a good learning method for me. Now, I am not sure if I'm actually going to save money on my frame build because I'm hooked and am starting to collect all the "toys" to go with my new Lincoln 210MP.. Looks like I need to get set up for TIG... thanks:) I've already been over to SWAG's website. Again, your videos are well put together. I've posted a few of my own and know that more time goes into producing the video than the actual job you are filming. So, your efforts are much appreciated. Looking forward to your videos of the Lincoln 210 MP for MIG. Thanks again Kevin Johnston Calgary, AB Canada
bought one after seeing this video. Finally got together enough of the parts to scratch start. 3 days in doing drills on cold rolled I realized that the black numbers on the regulator that is provided with the machine are in L/min. 40scfm does just fine on mig, but really sucks to learn tig welding. Set the regulator down to 15scfm and things are going much much better.
defnitely been thinking about picking up a 210mp, currently a welding student and I think it'd be a great practise/hobby welder thats not too expensive
A Vulcan OmniPro 220 seems like an equivalent, and costs just under $900. TIG torch and foot pedal are sold separately ($80 each). No HF, so it also uses lift start.
Hey Jody, Thanks for posting this video. I bought this machine when it first came out and have been using it for mig. I like it. It's my first mig, I have experience with stick. I've been waiting for someone to do a Tig demo with the unit. Looking forward to your follow up video's on this machine. Thank you. Mike
I want to build a stereo stand using 1” square tubing . I’m thinking the outcome of the welds would look much smoother off the get go as opposed to mig welding . I seem to end up with a fairly thick bead when using the 210 mig welding ,and yours tig welds look great
I have a stupid question being that I own this machine but I don’t have the tig setup. When Jody says working the peddle , does that mean he’s pulsing the peddle or is he just mean running the peddle normally?
I just got one of these back in june and Im self taught mig and stick welder. Could you do a beginners guide to using and setting up tig with this machine?
Hi I'm trying to find your video on scratch start without the foot pedal setup.. I'm trying to see if I can weld out of angle without relying on foot pedal
Curious to hear why you were weaving with a gas shielded process. I know that you were using a gas Lens but the way I was taught you always run stringers, wire feed, TIG. The only process that I was told that you could get away with a weave was stick.
any chance you will be doing a comparison video between the 210 and the miller multimatic? I've come to trust and value your input and suggestions far above anyone else on the interwebs. I really appreciate all the time you spend producing quality and highly informative videos, and really want to thank you! cheers :D
Thanks Jody I'm looking at getting that machine next week can the tig option be used without a pedal for a much simpler hook up. Thanks again your videos really do shed the light.
I've been waiting for these. Picked up 210 mp end of last year along with spool gun. Haven't used it much. Did some mig n seems like welds stick up high. Definitely wanna learn to tig so will be looking at getting the tig kit
I just have the basic stick/mig kit that came with my 210. Can you point me affordable, yet quality kit to get started with tig? Thank you for these videos!
I have this machine but i cant get it to start a nice arc at all. it leaves craters in the stee and just sounds not nice. i dont have that flow adjustment on my torch so theres no pre or post. could this be the issue?
Thanks for the video .. I'm going to Cal trade welding school in Modesto ca and I'm graduating soon ..I got some money saved and I originally wanted the miller version of this machine but Lincoln 210 mp is cheaper price wise and does just as good a job from what I hear.. I just thought I ask before I buy ,, what would u buy if u only had 1500 to 2000 budget cash wise.. I would appreciate the feedback.
20amp breaker for the 110 and 30amp for the 230 im no electrician but have been using those for the last 3 years on numerous projects at home, 20x24 carport/shop, 18' double gated entry way etc
No idea if this is a simple question or not or if you already answered it but what foot pedal would you recommend to use with this? What pot does it need to be? 22k? 25k? 10k? Thank you and I appreciate your answer!
Jody Thank you for this video and looking forward to the rest of your tests with this 210mp. I purchased this with the aluminum gun. With purchasing a torch kit for this welder. What would you recommend? I just started welding school a month ago. Thanks
Ummm, it is a matter of the ampacity of the circuit feeding your transformer. A 30A 240V circuit provides as much power as a 60A 120V circuit. A step up transformer of that size will be quite expensive. It will likely be significantly less expensive to wire in the 240V circuit for this machine.
A titanium video sounds fun. I only have a few pieces of .020" and .040" test pieces. Tubing would be better. I have a friend who has a ck worldwide bubble so maybe we could work something out
Hi jody I was just wondering if I can weld aluminum with Lincoln Power Mig 210MP Love your work I'm a Australian boiler maker for the past 30 years thanks
You can mig weld aluminum with a spool gun. You need to make sure the welder can support a spool gun. I know all(?) the Everlast mig welders support spool guns out of the box but not sure about this model.
The Power Mig 210 MP supports a Spool Gun. We have one here in our shop at work, and it is a matter of attaching it, and selecting it in the User Interface. Nothing much to it at all. How well it works? I guess that'll be up to the user lol
Jody another great post .which order you doing the other two mig then stick or other way round. I take it its a transformer rectifier unit so direct current only. J
Stupid question maybe, i can you have a 17 size on a 210A machine and still utilize the full 210A? i have a 26(i think) torch on my 200A machine and it basicly could melt the cable still.
why were you using 309 for stainless to stainless? shouldn't it be 308 or whatever the grade of stainless your welding on 309 is for stainless to carbon
Hi Jody, saw your Fab tech Video and it was a treat to watch, like you being at the Fronius booth!!! would love to watch you do some weld video's of you working off a Fronius weld machine, I mean it would be a awesome to know your opinion!!! God Bless Ayres
Great video Jody. My question for you regarding your stubby Gas lens kit is will it fit my Miller / weldcraft WP -17. It has a long body like the one you were using in the video. I look forward to all your Video each week . Thanks Mike
I was thinking about picking up a Millermatic 211, as I already have a Lincoln AC225 tombstone stick welder. However, after seeing this thing, I'm wondering if I should sell my tombstone welder and just buy one of these. Then I can do Tig and Flux core also if I ever want to. Why would someone buy machines separately when one of these exists? For longer duty times or something? Thanks!
I can't entirely answer your question, but there are very few stick/mig machines due to the fact one is constant voltage and the other is constant current. It does seem like a good option.
Jody, I know you were using a 3/32" Tungsten, but I didn't catch what type you used for the Power Mig 210. Being it only does AC welding, was there a particular Tungsten used that doesn't ball at the end? I'm finding that Brown and White (Zirconiated) Tungsten is for AC only. But not sure if that is a myth. I seen your videos on using different types of Tungsten at 200 Amps, but wasn't sure if they applied to this particular situation. Also, what kind of filler rod did you use? Thanks for the time (if you see this)
Do u have any information on parts needed to make it tig ready. Did u buy a kit from Lincoln or can I use any tig torch and pedal once plug is installed?
Hi Jody, I've been watching your channel for a while, fantastic videos !! I just got the tig setup for my 210mp and I have a few questions re your video: - what was you gas flow set to ? - what is your exact lift tig start sequence ? I am also using a pedal, but I find that my tungsten sticks when starting an arc. Thanks in advance, Matt
Just ordered one which will be here in June, just curious to know if there are any disappointing aspects to the machine, I'm upgrading from 180c so that I can get better control of knowing parameters
I have not used it for mig or stick yet but will soon. The fan is sorta loud but I have heard worse. It was a pain installing the plug for the foot pedal but once that was done it worked fine. 175 amps is hot enough to Tig really thick steel and I pushed it hard at 175 till I had to let the torch cool.
weldingtipsandtricks Thank you for all your GREAT work, your vid's are soooo helpful for us newbees and I have learned so much from your tips and experience. God Bless your efforts to school the next generation.
I have this machine, and a spool gun for aluminum MIG welding. I used the spool gun to build a 200 gal holding tank, which is really just a 3x4x1 1/2 foot box out of 1/8" 5086 aluminum sheet. The only issue was the short duty cycle of the spool gun. It doesn't have AC capability, but some guys I work with told me you can TIG weld aluminum with DC if you use helium instead of argon. The machine can be bought on its own, capable of stick or mig out of the box, or as the "Aluminum one pack", which comes with the spool gun. I bought the base machine, and bought the spool gun later. It can also be bought as the "TIG one pack" where you get the machine with the torch, foot pedal, and adapters.
Just curious as to which machine you think is the best all round machine, easiest to use, longest lasting as far as heavy and light use. Now I am not the Tig welder in my house hold and am looking at getting my wife a new machine ( and yes she is the welder in my house hold red seal and all lol) but I want to purchase on that she would be happy with and versitile I do believe in having separate machines for stick mig and tig although my lincoln 305g is set up for all but the suitcases are not so handy. Thank you for all that you show in your videos they are great for me because I may try my hand at tig with out her kicking me off her stool LMAO!
Chris Morrow Man its hard to say what the best all around machine is. I dont think there is one! I have never really liked the idea of one all in one machine. Seems there are always trade offs. But if you think of this as a mig welder ..that also does stick and tig. its a great starter unit because its only about 100 more dollars than a 210mvp hobart handler mig only. If your wife really likes high freq start tig, then lift arc might not be the best for her. We all get spoiled. like me and my torch cups. haha
Hey Jody. Great video. That's a pretty nice looking machine, I must say. Just wondering if and when you'll be selling a stubby gas lens kit with only 3/32" components. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into your videos.
I wanna now if you all like this welder? Is it good on the thee difrent a modes (stick,MIG,Tig)? I wanna buy one and I wanna now if it's worth it Thank you
Hi Jody, Thank u you for the video!!! wish I could buy some stuff off you, the shipping is more expensive, your videos are a treat!!! God Bless!!! Ayres
The reason I was watching this video was to see if the 210MP had a TIG solenoid, as that was one of the only things I didn't like about the Harbor Freight Omnipro 220. Turns out it doesn't either. But, what's even more disappointing is this machine doesn't even have a TIG pedal adapter! So, not only is this machine 50% more expensive, it becomes TWICE the price of a HF unit after the purchase of a pedal and adapter. That's crazy. I didn't want to buy a HF machine, but geez Lincoln, give me a reason to buy your machine, please!
I would like to get my hands on the engineer of this machine who obviously never mig welded before. The darn thing blows air out the front; it blows right where I am trying to weld on a welding table or other working area. They should have had it blowing out the back so it would not interfere with welding gas. I had to fabricate a shield to direct the air sideways. Otherwise it is a great machine.
This is by far one of the greatest information sources on the web for welding. I've been welding since I was 12 and I still learn new things from you. Keep up the great work Jody, Rock On!

True. Lots of thought went into the interface

Does the machine have ability to do 4t ? Upslope and downslope?
Can I weld aluminum with this particular Tig kit? Or is only aluminum be done with the spool gun?

How is the duty cycle on that machine. ? I assume at 175A You have to take a few breaks ?
We have this exact machine that you have but question is, can you do Tig aluminum?
Thanks for posting this video. I just purchased this welder today. I'm looking forward to learning how to use it.
What's the part number on the tig that was used on video
We have one of these welders and we were wondering what gauge of wire would it take to run 50ft extension cord
Hey Jody I'd love to see you do more tig welding with some everlast welders. I've been looking at the latest everlast welders pretty seriously.
Did you respect the duty cycle or the machine or basically just weld at your own rate? Surely its got to be about 20% at that heat.
I just have the basic stick/mig kit that came with my 210. Can you point me affordable, yet quality kit to get started with tig? Thank you for these videos!
Can't beat it. All around max'ed out!
Can the 210 tig wield aluminum

Mr Jody, if the welders with digital setting screen goes out, will the welder still work ?
can this use a hand amptrol or are you limited to just a foot amptrol?
When will you start a new project series
How does it compare to the rebel 215ic?
What size breaker do I need for 115 and 230? I want to make sure my electrical needs are fulfilled prior to using my PM 210 MP.
20amp breaker for the 110 and 30amp for the 230 im no electrician but have been using those for the last 3 years on numerous projects at home, 20x24 carport/shop, 18' double gated entry way etc
I might just buy this machine after seeing this video. Thanks for the great content as always Jody.
Can you even use 1/8 tungsten on this inverter?
No idea if this is a simple question or not or if you already answered it but what foot pedal would you recommend to use with this? What pot does it need to be? 22k? 25k? 10k? Thank you and I appreciate your answer!
Hi Jody....thanks for the video's. What is the torch kit you recommend?
Jody Thank you for this video and looking forward to the rest of your tests with this 210mp. I purchased this with the aluminum gun. With purchasing a torch kit for this welder. What would you recommend? I just started welding school a month ago. Thanks
Ac aluminum with this?
Great video .. i dont speak english but i udestand all the process .....very good job
Jody, I just bought a 210mp and would like to set up for tig. Can you tell me what torch and connector you used in the video? Thanks, Kevin
Jody what are thoughts on using a 120v to 240v step up transformer to use this machine in the 240v setting, but just plugging into a 120v outlet?
Ummm, it is a matter of the ampacity of the circuit feeding your transformer. A 30A 240V circuit provides as much power as a 60A 120V circuit. A step up transformer of that size will be quite expensive. It will likely be significantly less expensive to wire in the 240V circuit for this machine.

It's actually an inverter and only weighs around 40 lbs. planning on mig first but not sure what will happen
Stupid question maybe, i can you have a 17 size on a 210A machine and still utilize the full 210A? i have a 26(i think) torch on my 200A machine and it basicly could melt the cable still.
Only goes up to 175amps on Tig. But even that heated up the 17 torch after a while.
Shame on Lincoln for not including a gas valve or ft pedal for tig on this unit expected better from them especially on the cost of this Machine!
which is better. the Lincoln 210 mp for tig welding or the Lincoln 175 square wave
I have the Tig 200 and this machine, the TIG 200 is a better tig welder, no need to scratch/lift start and it also will do AC for Aluminium.
why were you using 309 for stainless to stainless? shouldn't it be 308 or whatever the grade of stainless your welding on 309 is for stainless to carbon

Wow. You'd think Lincoln would put something like this out. Well done Jody.
you can get it with the pedal plug installed
Great video Jody. My question for you regarding your stubby Gas lens kit is will it fit my Miller / weldcraft WP -17. It has a long body like the one you were using in the video.
I look forward to all your Video each week .
Thanks Mike
Should work just fine- Tig torches are pretty interchangeable
Yep. It'll fit
liz1965 Thanks guys. Ordering today and maybe another t-shirt.

I think he said he was using 1/8" 309 stainless wire and probably a 2% Lanthanated tungsten
This is a DC machine Lincoln Power Mig 210MP. DC Tungsten for Steel, Stainless. AC Tungsten is for Aluminum. The Lincoln Square wave Tig 200 is AC. 😎
Do u have any information on parts needed to make it tig ready. Did u buy a kit from Lincoln or can I use any tig torch and pedal once plug is installed?

Hi Jody, I've been watching your channel for a while, fantastic videos !!
I just got the tig setup for my 210mp and I have a few questions re your video:
- what was you gas flow set to ?
- what is your exact lift tig start sequence ? I am also using a pedal, but I find that my tungsten sticks when starting an arc.
Thanks in advance,

another super awesome video. guess i have to buy the tig package for my 210mp
Really great machine thats affordable. Really filling the gap where Miller seems to have dropped the ball.
Hey Jody can u weld aluminum with this machine..mig or tig ????
Wow this is my first video I watched from you and you really ex plane things well I actually learn't some thing.I'm subscribing now!!
+alexromo yeah thus guybis a pro inhave seen his videos before. that tig is amazing.
We all get spoiled. like me and my torch cups. haha
so this is pretty comparable to the miller multimatic 200?
Zach Tarbell
210 doesn't run 6010 well at all, heard the multimatic does it better because they released a patch for the chip to fix that issue.
Hey Jody. Great video. That's a pretty nice looking machine, I must say. Just wondering if and when you'll be selling a stubby gas lens kit with only 3/32" components. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into your videos.
Cory working on the 3/32 kit. Should be ready in days
Thanks. I'll order one as soon as they're available.
I wanna now if you all like this welder? Is it good on the thee difrent a modes (stick,MIG,Tig)? I wanna buy one and I wanna now if it's worth it
Thank you
Mig and stick are next so I will hold my judgement till then. I am not expecting any real issues since I know people who own one
Very good info ! Thanks
Thank you for your videos!
Nice. Helpful. Thank you!
very well. thank you very much for sharing
Hi Jody,
Thank u you for the video!!!

your videos are a treat!!! God Bless!!!

Great video! Keep them coming
thank you very much

I would like to get my hands on the engineer of this machine who obviously never mig welded before. The darn thing blows air out the front; it blows right where I am trying to weld on a welding table or other working area. They should have had it blowing out the back so it would not interfere with welding gas. I had to fabricate a shield to direct the air sideways. Otherwise it is a great machine.
