I love his reference to Carly Simon's song You're So Vain with his lyric "and I think I'm so lame I bet I'll think this song is about me" 4:34
*rambling on rather self consciously* , aren't you? ; )`
Dianogah would be my first choice as a backing band as well. I couldn't believe this was recorded live the fist time I heard it.
This is one of UA-cam's hidden gems
when i was 12, i was just getting into andrew bird and this video always freaked me out in the best way. i'm in my second year of college and i still think about it to this day
One of my favorite songs... Andrew Bird, may your sound spread and bring joy to the world...
I cried in the end.
This is one of the most strange, disturbing, and yet hauntingly beautiful things I have ever seen. The editing to put the song and the film together really make it look like they were meant for each other. Bravo all-around.
Bird's videos are always so fitting for his unique music. What an inspiration he is to us all.
Peace
What cannot be found might be forgotten sadly
Wow, this is so uncanny, I just watched 'My octopus teacher' yesterday on Netlfix about a man who developed a friendship with an Octopus, a great story with a bittersweet ending. They should have used this song as a soundtrack!
This version makes me cry, man. Watching this in a public place probably wasn't the best idea.
The LP version never really clicked for me, the monotone and nonchalant vocals threw me off. This version however is crooned so softly & earnestly. I remember falling asleep to this on repeat while sulking after a breakup.
This made me cry. Oh my god the music was beautiful, the animation was beautiful. And I can certainly connect with the song.
acaseformitosis ... It's making me cry now
Pocket Symphonies
This is one of the best things I have ever seen and it has been an absolute companion to me over these years. I've shared this with students and friends and strangers and it never fails to stir in me some giant appreciation for music and narrative and whimsy and effort. This should be remastered in 4K if possible.
andrew bird sure is something special.
Being alone it can be quite romantic
like Jacques Cousteau underneath the atlantic
a fantastic voyage to parts unknown
going to depths where the sun's never shone
and i fascinate myself when i'm alone
so i go a little overboard but hang on to the hull
while i'm airbrushing fantasy art on a life
that's really kind of dull
oh, i'm in a lull
i'm all for moderation but sometimes it seems
moderation itself can be a kind of extreme
so i joined the congregation
i joined the softball team
i went in for my confirmation
where incense looks like steam
i start conjugating proverbs
where once there were nouns
this whole damn rhyme scheme's starting to get me down
oh, i'm in a lull
i'm in a lull
being alone it can be quite romantic
like jacques cousteau underneath the atlantic
a fantastic voyage to parts unknown
going to depths where the sun's never shone
and i fascinate myself when i'm alone
i'm rambling on rather self consciously
while i'm stirring these condiments into my tea
and i think i'm so lame
i bet i think this song's about me
don't i don't i don't i ?
i'm in a lull
Who does your art?
haunting is the perfect description for this video, and Andrew
bird in general.
The way you make it sound
Listen for the xylophone part at 3:49. He's whistling at the same pitch for each note. I saw him in Oxford a few months ago and look forward to seeing him at Bonna!
And he does it again! Brilliant :)
Love the music!
word, this shit pops into my head all the time now.
extremely wonderful music, andrew at his finest!
What a tradgedy, 9 people missed the like button. :'(
I can't even look at this anymore, its unhealthy to have my heart be at risk of turnng into a dove. I almost cried when I saw this

The squid waving back kills me :)

*_"moderation itself is a kind of extreme"_* 🎶

I love this.
this song is absolutely beutiful and i loved its meaning and everything. i know what its saying about love and how someone can be used wrongly for love.
but that doesnt mean i didnt almost hurl when i saw the ending.
amazing
Wow! Very interesting.
Another amazing aural (re)creation by Mr. Bird...
Strangest damn video I've ever seen, but the song is so beautiful.
I searched lull like the radiohead song and found this banger
confusing
depressing
haunting
beautiful
Far worse places to find oneself than in a lull.
Andrés Bird es un músico muy talentoso y experimentado. Podemos esperar mucho de él todavía.
Great
3:23 DX squids actually have three hearts, still, its a beautiful video

Fucking beautiful. Just so fucking beautiful.
My octopus teacher? Love this song..
Is t this song full on Spotify?
I just found this song cause I misspelled something. I was looking for what type skull a bird has and the corrector type Lull instead of skull. Nice finding though 🍁🍂
very creatvice video, the violin makes the song to me. :]
The man is depressed. The Squid represents another life the man thinks wants. He lures it with lobsters. It all seems exciting and romantic (new life) but it turns on him just like everything else he tries to love. So the man metaphorically dies or is killed by his own self sabotage. The Squid calling his wife is the comedy/tragedy of his despair that she tried to live with but she couldn't help him so she let him go, finally. The baby squids represent pain produced by false realities.
I have a open mind a nd all,
but did he just get randy with that squid?
fab
Anyone know where I can find an mp3 of this song?
my boyfriend's surname is Lull and it's so beautifull to know that he have a pretty song with his name in somewhere
good luck )))
trippy music video, but it's an awesome song.
Are they going to re-release this track? Or did they just extend the intro, for the sake of extending it?
Never eating squid now.
But how did he die at the end?
Someone have a instrumental version of that ?
Музыка великолепна.
No Way Same!
see ya there
i don't think so. this was just recorded for the daytrotter sessions with dianogah sitting in.
this is the prologue to the kanye west gay fish adventures
who is the amazing animator?
oh god… 😭
Strange, yet sad
Vid kind of made me sad. Very trippy.
@motionstudiofilms Is this Jesse?? cause i showed this to my friend Jesse and thats exactly what he said too :P personally I dont see it at all though.
it's like another version on top of the same link
@OJMChamberlain Oh, that hurts... I´ve suddenly realized how empty and dull my own life is... Well... off to the sea to marry a squid!
@spidermoy007 haha amen to that
@claireswailes This isn't Jesse... But i'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this :)
11 Peoples' spouses cheated on them with squids.
Lagu si paling gw banget
@ninethreefivesix So Be it!
It's like if H.P. Lovecraft and Bjork had a baby together...
Wow. I cannot believe this video even has a dislike button.
fun fact: it has been found that sometimes when eating squid some people have been stabbed and 'impregnated' on the inside of their cheek with squid sperm.
Kate Buchanan inside of their cheek?
He hug with a octopus? :D
if you've never heard of dianogah. I'd suggest you do now.
Sooo, I'm thinking I interpreted this wrong but... What I got out of this is that the squid and the old guy had an affair, the old guy left his wife, the squid killed the old dood and called to tell his wife that he'd practically raped and killed her husband and the babies that the old dood and the squid made are living on the old guy's glasses.
Wow. I love the song though(:
the song is different from few months ago...
I love this sooo freakin much. The story is beautiful. It's not about bestiality, it's about being in a particular state of mind and daydreaming absurd things. At least that was my interpretation.
I suppose maybe the video is about how some relationships/love may seem wrong to us, but that doesn't mean the two beings aren't happy with each other?
Though I still think bestiality itself is bad, cause I don't think most animals actually understand what's going on, lol.
The squid looks a little like my ex-husbands new wife, but the squid is sexier and and doesn't scream as much
