I have the most beautiful view of a neighbor’s 2 huge pink dogwoods this time of year…I think they started out as at least 3 and 4 individual trees, and are now 30x30 and just a cloud of deep pink. Between those and Garden Answer’s doings, coffee time is perfect here in the very acidic-soiled PNW. Happy spring everyone!

Same in Toronto, in fact I’d say pretty much for all of Ontario. In TO, Ash and Elms were planted along boulevards in many parts of the city and they’ve had to be taken out due to severe infestation and the strict ban on moving wood/timber is still in effect. So sad to lose all that majestic canopy!

When I think of Oregon berries I think of boysenberries, a cross between a raspberry and a blackberry. We ate a lot of boysenberry pie at my aunt's place in Portland. Have you thought of growing them (or maybe you don't like them)? As for blackberries, all I ever knew about blackberries is that they'd plant themselves on the fringes of abandoned sites. Due to this, would they maybe prefer no fertilizer, poor soil, and hardly any attention? Maybe they'd like it if you ignored them? Been watching you since COVID. Thanks for such refreshing content. It has really kept me going in my own yard.

Thinking a creeping ground cover perennial that smells good when walked upon would be interesting around picnic table... So enjoy your channel. Makes my solidary life joyful.

Ugh, I heard you hitting your head, I hope it's ok! Back in the day we used to put a cold spoon and rub it with it not to get a bump. It happens all the time. If you see any frost in the forest you can cover the smoke bush! I will look into getting a Korean spice viburnum! I am all for fragrance in the garden! Blessings 💞🙏🏻💞

good luck with the blueberries!! I have a Babycakes Blackberry in its 2nd season, So Cal foothills, 10b. Last season fought with fungus, but I learned from you to treat with copper fungicide. So far so good. Looking happy and healthy at this time! Love love love that little tarp you used to lay down under the unpotting. Such a handy size!! Maybe another item for the store?? :)

Hi Laura and Aaron 😊 That Ash tree looks amazing for climbing. Do the kids ever want to climb trees in your yard? I was a tree climber when I was young so it looks very inviting ☺️

I have a blue ray here in Atlanta area. Despite our ideal soil and conditions for blueberries, it struggles. However, I won’t pull it because the flavor is superior to my other 3 varieties. Good luck!

On the blueberries; I've grown Reka (pronounced REEKA) before and it has lovely flavor. Unfortunately it died because not enough sun and too much water (PNW rain here). I took out my Blueray and gave it to my daughter. It's flavor wasn't anything to write home about. I replaced it with a Chandler....my favorite by far with large size and and great tart flavor! Your pots look a bit small though for maximum size and terra cotta tends to dry out. I use the biggest ceramic pots I can get and haven't had any problems using an acid planting mix, Espoma Berry tone, and top dress with fine bark mulch. I have 16 plants that are my pride and joy, but do have to net them from the birds as berries mature or I wouldn't get any!
