Janey you were on fire today in the garden what gorgeous progress today! I admit to being addicted to coffee with you in the mornings. Watching this new property transform from nothing in less than a year to amazing gardens is mind blowing! Looking forward to June's garden tour to admire all the hard work you and Jason have put into it just this month!! Enjoy the weekend and a successful event! Happy Memorial Day.
Dear Janey, you know, sometimes, like you, I just feel the need to be out in my garden. Just to BE….alone with God and the plants. Meditating. Being grateful and thankful. I remember one time I heard someone pose this question….Do you garden for yourself or for others? I thought at the time what a strange question. But think about it….why do we garden? People don’t see it all the time; if they do, they may or may not comment. 🧑🏽🌾☺️ My garden is …. for me. It is my total and deliberate JOY!!!! It is my happy place even in the winter for it is during winter I look at the snow, smile, plan, and think about the future space. It is for me 🧑🏽🌾♥️☺️🧑🏽🌾☺️♥️. I felt you on this video. For sure and for true.
I, too, put down a thick layer of compost in one of my flower beds last year. When I try to go past the compost layer with an auger that has longer flighting than yours, I hit that hard natural soil that is still breaking down. Looks like your drill gets stuck on your compacted soil too. Staying in the compost layer is where the success is with the no till method. I’ll be going a different route in the future with new beds.
I’m so glad that you’re leaving spaces for Monty to be a dog. I have a friend that has a bed along her front fence. They have two dogs that like to run up and down the fence when someone walks by and she gets mad at them. I had this issue so I left a path for my dog to run the fence. My plants were happy and I was not always mad at my dog. I hope if someone is having a similar problem this helps.
Thank you for the reminder, Janey. My whole world has turned upside down in the last 2 months. Although, I have faith everything will work out for the best, I definitely need to get out into my garden for some plant therapy.
moving from Virginia to Florida in one week... and I can not wait to get myself back in the garden again..and start planning and creating a cottage tropical garden in Florida 😁
I planted creeping Jenny around my walk way pavers… It literally glows day and night! You can walk on it ‘lightly’ and not damage it. It makes a perfect lime colored live mulch
I love that you are just a girl in overalls with a wagon full of flowers and a mission to plant them. I love Monty chillin' in the shade enjoying the garden, too. All of your and Jason's hard work is paying off. Your yard is coming together and looking beautiful.
Love, love, love it! I was SO happy when the FedEx truck arrived yesterday as I knew it would have all the Proven Winners plants that I ordered. Yesterday found me planting superbenas, lantana, super bells, mini vista petunias, and supertunias. All 8 boxes of flowers were planted by the end of the day. I was exhausted but so happy.
Me jealous no not at all 😂😂😂 cannot wait to see it when it is in full bloom. You are doing an amazing job. ❤ oh my gosh that zig zag planter. So gorgeous.
Janey is your pathway packed hard enough that you can sweep or leaf blow the mulch & soil that spill onto it? The clean crispness of that pathway really add to the polished look of your garden! Gorgeous❤
Here’s an idea to hide your gas / oil tank! I just saw this idea from Bunny Guinness( UK landscaper) make a willow ( use fresh stems) fence! It’s in the shape of your honeysuckle ! So pretty and useful! You can do it if anyone can!
This looked like the perfect day ☀️ Green Therapy feeds the soul. Suggestion…plant a patch of ground cover or lawn alternative in that shady spot for Monty. I have Dymondia and Dwarf Carpet of stars “nana” in my So Cal drought tolerant garden. The nana has these darling tiny lavender flowers in early spring and I love it so so much!!! The BMM Evolvulus over wintered in my garden :) Your garden is looking beautiful🌸
Hands down the most informative and meaningful gardening influencer! Admire your organic approach - where you tailor your plant selection to our climate here in Northern California and in the west. So many gardeners here in the west share clips on environmentally wasteful practices ignoring our prolonged droughts and changing weather patterns. Thanks for your scientific and well researched videos !
I enjoyed watching you stand and stare at your garden spaces, I do that too but don’t have a whole stockpile of plants to use. It’s enjoyable watching your garden grow, it’s come such a long way so quickly. Your voice sounds somewhat different when you do the voice overs and kind of miss seeing your smiles and lovely teeth. You have great teeth!😂 But the voice overs seem to work very well. Happy gardening
I feel like this whole garden journey is only the beginning. The best is yet to come, and you're well on your way, and Monty is reminding all of us to chill and enjoy the garden. Lol! He's so cute!
Oh Wow, Janey what a productive day, I love the lemon coral and how it looks along the walk way, you did work hard getting all those plants in , a labour of love, it's all coming together, and explosion of colour 🫶
Janey, that lemon coral sedum is stunning edging your pathway!! Excellent choice. You've transformed this lot. I have noticed and commented on your beautifully rich dark soil ! Keep inspiring us in zone 9b with your garden.
I loved this video. I love when you do a voice over since your voice is soft and relaxing. The camera brought out the beauty of the plants and design. You got me started on lemon coral sedum. I plant it in my zone 6b garden and get it to winter over for one winter and 2 summer seasons then it splits and I have to replace it, but its worth it. I take the splits and put them in some of my flower pots, also. What a great plant!
Love, love, love how your Best For the West garden is coming together. So fabulous! I enjoyed this style of video with the voiceover. It’s a nice addition to the mix.
Love, love, love this video! You are so right about being with nature and feeling its calming effect. Your garden is really starting to take shape, and you still have so much more space to play with! I especially love your "Best of the West" garden. When you asked Martha Stewart for her plant recommendations for our hot, dry climate, I was disappointed in her somewhat lackluster suggestions, whereas you keep coming up with absolutely gorgeous ideas! Keep it up Janey! You are fast becoming our "Martha Stewart of the West," LOL! 🥰💐
Looking good Janey! love the placement of the Lemon Sedum great combo with the blue and orange backdrop. I'm also enjoying the voice over, it's mellow and calm.
Stunning! We’re recovering here in zone 3 from a late spring snowstorm! Ah well, that’s gardening where I live!🫣. Your pattern of planting is going to be spectacular!🇨🇦👏🇨🇦
Your right about hot humid climates not planting the same. We are in the same zone but I live were the humidity can get to 100%. I would never plant my plants that close. I would find a mushy mess. Plants in high humidity need more room to breathe.
Wow!! Proven Winners knows that it’s backed a winner in you Janey. Your garden is a wonderful investment and its journey from zero to hero is nothing short of incredible! A very big WELL DONE to you, Jason and Proven Winners. Love it! 🙌🤗
Well good morning again. Monte is on the job again, making sure everything is done to perfection. He is so sweet and you are so sweet to him.Planning a site for him to relax. Everything is beautiful. Gardening is so much fun, so therapeutic, so rewarding and so not Set in Stone. Have a blessed day. Love it all .the Oklahoma Gardner.
Oh my goodness you worked so hard on your garden, that is a lot of beautiful flowers to plant in a day, and let me tell you looks absolutely beautiful I just love all the colours, but yes being in your garden is true therapy,a friend recently gifted me a beautiful garden sign that says “To Plant a Flower is to believe in tomorrow” how true 😊❤️🌸
Oh my word, your zigzag planter is looking stunning already!! 0:53 Planting the gomphrena in a circular design inspired me to do something similar with my circular gazebo. Thank you! I liked the voice-over video. Nicely done! You'll have a gorgeous garden this season, without a doubt!
You are not alone! I will go out and stare at my garden for probably way too long trying to plan and come up with areas and blank spaces that need something but I don’t want just anything.. it has to flow and go with the style and vision lol.
As a West Sacramento resident, I always get so much inspiration from your Best for the West garden! I am a relatively new gardener and first time homeowner, and we are working on getting lots of plants into the ground in our backyard. I always come to your videos for advice (and inspiration). Your garden is looking beautiful and I so enjoyed this style of voiceover video! Looks like you had a great day in the garden ☺️
Just found you recently, and I'm hooked! You have a soothing voice. Your enthusiasm is infectious. I enjoy your tours of other gardens. Can't wait to see how your gardens develop over time. ❤
Hot and dry 9a grower here! (Texas) My squash got too much sun and fizzled out the other day with temps feeling like 102. Luckily I have backups and will plant in the literal shade
What an impact. I love that you get dirty, too. I'm always dirty when I garden. Dirt on the pants, shirt, is expected , RIGHT!? Do you have issues with ants? I sit on the ground just llike you do and in the spring I can get ants in my pants. If not careful! Love that lemon coral sedum lining your walk way!
So jealous because at my age of 76 having so much trouble getting Dow like you do with no knee problem. So beautiful and especially for your body workout
I LOVE the Lemon Coral Sedum border- I think it would look awesome for the whole walkway to be bordered with it_ like at other property. Your path always reminds me of the "Yellow Brick Road" (even though its not brick) and now with the lemon coral sedum it really highlights that area. Thanks for sharing. Very pretty and very informative!
Love this day with you, and sometimes I feel the same way! Not a 100 plants, but I do just get out there and get busy, and enjoy every aspect of life, just being in the garden. Blessed! Love this! Oh, and that staring into the garden is a wonderful thing, to figure out where you want those beautiful plants.
Amazing progress and beautiful combinations. I just love to see it and compare your before & after in such a short time. I admire your energy & perseverance.
Monty is so sweet to not mind you gardening in his space! 🤣 I have gotten behind watching you this spring as it has been crazy with planting and preparing before the blazing Texas heat sets in (takes me twice as long with trigger finger issues so I don't reinjure them). Now that you have more space, have you considered retrying Cape Plumbago as a shrub? 😁 They don't like tons of water. There is also a ground cover, Hardy Plumbago (ceratostigma plubaginoides), with cobalt blue blooms and they have beautiful fall color foliage in fall as long as they get some sun in summer. I picked up a salvia last year based on a Google photo that looked very similar to a lavender plant. It is Salvia Chamaedroides ('Mexican blue sage'). It would LOVE your Best for the West garden!
Blue my mind is also great for hot humid weather. In Florida they use it for parking lots, I grow it on my Red, White and Blue garden in central Florida.
Just gorgeous! I was hoping you would repeat the lemon coral sedum pathway border!! I lined my walkway like this because of you!! I love it so much!! Thanks for the inspiration!!
Ooh, it looks so good! Don’t you love when you have no plan and throw some things together and then they look awesome! This looks great! The contrasting colors just pop! Nice work!!!🌸🌼🌷
I’m in Florida and I have Blue my mind in my front garden and my backyard gardens. I love it so much it’s a perennial for me. I’m a lover of blue. Your plants are beautiful!!!
Monty looked like he was eating a piece of wire - or at least, it was something long, thin and narrow. Fingers crossed I’m wrong. Monty is so good in the garden, very mindful and involved. I love the way he lopes around the garden, mooching here and there, but always keeping you in sight. What a dog! 🐕🐾
I love seeing all your plantings fill in and thrive. So many beautiful and vibrant color combinations. I love videos like this that really inspire creativity in the garden.
Congratulations Janey and Jason from Martha’s Vineyard. So inspirational. I also spent the day in my garden and greeting tourists who come by to see my adorable gingerbread house. I’m so grateful to proven winners and to UA-cam for teaching me so much about gardening. Happy Memorial Day weekend. Laurie at the Seashrimp.
Such a peaceful relaxing video. I liked the way you did it, music was good, and it was a very productive day for you. Everything looks so good. Love the lemon coral sedum outlining the path
You need to get the Laura's edition long power auger so you can drill all your holes while standing..see “ Planting Beautiful Pink Annuals…” (9 days ago - start 2:56 mins)
Great message today! And you absolutely shine in these voice over videos - your passion, your calmness and your true expertise come to the forefront. So very calming to listen to. Loved it!
It's so pretty it's going to look really really nice along your walk area so good idea there kiddo I'm the one with the 30s at memorial Park in New Kensington PA and I love your shows okay talk to you later bye
Absolutely amazing. Thanks so much for sharing with us your travels with your family. Sawyer is finally able to express the excitement he feel with Curoso. I opoligize I think spelled his name wrong. Hugs and kisses to you and yours. Thanks for allowing me to see something I probably will never have the chance to see in my lifetime. Hold on to those memories because when you are my age that is everything you have left. Thanks again ❤!
I’ve been waiting for this episode where you mass plant in the orchard garden! So satisfying. You really got into the flow. Very meditative. Thank you! ❤
wow Janey, watching from NZ, your garden is changing in leaps and bounds now that you are getting to the planting. The zig zag garden looks lovely now that it in its 2nd season
That lemon coral sedum just gave me some great ideas, or should I say you gave me some great ideas, your very inspiring, thanks for a great planting video, I learn alot from you.
I a. So happy that you followed your heart when you woke up and planted all day.🌼. The results are stunning and it is so good for the soul to get in the dirt and play. 🌸
Hi Janey! Have you considered getting the “Laura” edition Power Planter? It should help you when planting the 4” pots. Love seeing your growth over the years!!
Janey you were on fire today in the garden what gorgeous progress today! I admit to being addicted to coffee with you in the mornings. I’ve also enjoyed watching this from bare-beautiful…..
🎉😂❤
My day does not start off right unless I’m watching Janey in the morning! 🌸🥰🇨🇦
Hi Janey, after all the hard work in prepping the land and gardens, planting is the best reward ! Beautiful- you and Jason have done well! 🥰🌸🇨🇦
The dog laying under the tree. How precious!!
When I watched Monty spread out it was as if he was telling Janey , “ hey don’t take my spot! 🤣
Can’t wait to see the end result.
@@eileenchang2173 this! Lol 😍
So glad I’m not the only one that stands and stares 😏😎😏 at my garden I’ve even changed my mind and dug plants up…. 😅
I do the same! Most of my garden is in the front yard in a suburban neighborhood, so I assume my neighbors probably think I'm crazy. 🤣
Same here..
I do the same thing!
Me too! Glad I’m not the only one! 🤣
Dear Janey, you know, sometimes, like you, I just feel the need to be out in my garden. Just to BE….alone with God and the plants. Meditating. Being grateful and thankful.

Just found you recently, and I'm hooked!
You have a soothing voice.
Your enthusiasm is infectious.
I enjoy your tours of other gardens.
Can't wait to see how your gardens develop over time.
❤
The transformation in your yard in such a short time is remarkable
Great reminder Janey to take it easy and just absolutely enjoy where you are in the moment. Thanks
You need to plant some lemon coral sedum in your black and white garden. It would really make the black grass pop.
Hot and dry 9a grower here! (Texas)
My squash got too much sun and fizzled out the other day with temps feeling like 102.
How adorable is Monte 😍
So jealous because at my age of 76 having so much trouble getting Dow like you do with no knee problem. So beautiful and especially for your body workout
I LOVE the Lemon Coral Sedum border- I think it would look awesome for the whole walkway to be bordered with it_ like at other property. Nice to have a furry helper
You are so Blessed to have PW flowers given to you. 🙏🏻
Who else was trying to count plants to see the actual number Janey planted? Everything looks so good!!
Janey, this was so much fun. Oh I got sweaty just watching you , I am near Robbie so you know it is hot here. I love the layout of your plantings.
Absolutely beautiful. Enjoy your event, you are making memories.
Amazing progress and beautiful combinations. I just love to see it and compare your before & after in such a short time. I admire your energy & perseverance.
Those lemon sdedum looks fantastic 😊 gosh your garden Janey looks like it's been there for years and years!
That’s going to be so beautiful as a walkway border. Oh Monty. So cute.
Monty is so sweet to not mind you gardening in his space! 🤣
I have gotten behind watching you this spring as it has been crazy with planting and preparing before the blazing Texas heat sets in (takes me twice as long with trigger finger issues so I don't reinjure them).
Had to watch this twice. 🌞 👒 🌼
Blue my mind is also great for hot humid weather. In Florida they use it for parking lots, I grow it on my Red, White and Blue garden in central Florida.
The purple and orange look great with the lime light
Just gorgeous! I was hoping you would repeat the lemon coral sedum pathway border!! I lined my walkway like this because of you!! I love it so much!! Thanks for the inspiration!!
Fun watching all of your hard work. Glad Monty got some cuddle time in. Love seeing the two of you in the garden. So many plants - it's beautiful.
Ooh, it looks so good! Don’t you love when you have no plan and throw some things together and then they look awesome! This looks great! The contrasting colors just pop! Nice work!!!🌸🌼🌷
You have come so far, it’s really impressive. Can’t wait to see what each season brings and so happy to see you and Jason doing this together.
I’m in Florida and I have Blue my mind in my front garden and my backyard gardens. I love it so much it’s a perennial for me. I’m a lover of blue. Your plants are beautiful!!!
