I have been using this machine for 3 months with since sept w tingling, headaches, 3 slipped discs c5-7 heavily degenerated, bone spurs. It was a slow process of 2x a day for 20 minutes in the device. Started at low pressures around 15-18 then over 3 months have been able to tolerate 35lbs to 40 now and its like hardly anything now. This was against most therapists recc's by the way but I am glad I pushed for higher pressures over time. Neck feels close to brand new. It definitely causes some remodeling at the higher pressures and I cannot wait to get x rays because mine were horrid. Best of luck.
I'm 67 years old and my therapist recommended this for me and I purchased one and does indeed help, though for some people like myself, it took a month or so. I was doing it for 15 mins a day, 4-5 days a week. I have been without tingling down my arm now for a few weeks. I do a maintenance approach now with just a few times a week. My insurance would not help with the cost sadly. I recommend this highly. Thanks for the video..
Great Video. I use this in my practice, but we do not keep the patient on the targeted tension for the full treatment time. We hold the tension/traction for max 2 minutes and then release slowly for 30 seconds. So in a 15 minute session we would do about 6 cycles of 2 minute tractions at the specified tension. The evidence suggests that this creates pressure differentials and facilitates the transfer of fluid dynamics into the disc and help retract it away from effacing the nerve root affected. When keeping the patient on stretch/tension for the entire 15 minutes you are at risk of causing reflex inhibition within the muscles spindles especially where there is shortened/stiff soft tissues.
@@danielcj1978Unfortunately the only real true permanent solution to relieving pain/restoring functionality is surgery. I own the same exact device, does it work,, sure it works it temporarily works it's a Band-Aid so are epidermal steroidal injections, also all the pain pills prescribed, chiropractors I've been to plenty of them & again a temporary solution to a permanent problem! The only true forever tool in this video are those surgeons hands and what they can potentially do for somebody like me who is so f****** pissed off because I'm in pain every single day- I've spent thousands of dollars on all these dumb gadgets to get nowhere & so I'm begging you doctor please let me know what hospital(s)you contract out with. Again I do not Trust my small town surgeons in the state of NM.
FYI, this unit is really good and very similar to an actual traction device. The air does dissipate slowly over a few minutes which is a nice feature. I found a very clean unit on the bay for around $100!
I'm 28 and I've had 3 herniated disks on my L5-S1. Each time did physical therapy and meds. This 4th time it pinched my sciatica nerve and caused me massive pain. The Va finally got me this machine and hoping it helps me be pain free.
Also it's best to emulate what the automatic unit does at the PT office which is going about 5 minutes, releasing the air, and repeating about 5 times.
I use this device. My physical therapist explained the angle provides a neutral position at 15 degrees. He explained for greater impact on lower cervical concerns, the angle is increased.
I bought my Saunders Neck Traction from eBay. It was gently used and were available around $150.00. Seller's regularly will send a message with a lowered price if you put the item in your watch list. My Doctor did approve this.
I live in SE Florida. The physical equipment supplier no longer would fill prescriptions for a Saunders Traction unit. The owner said it was hard for him to get the Medicare Equipment to cover the item. So I found a gently used one on eBay. 125 - 150 was the average price for a used unit. I do have to set it up for use on the floor and not my bed. I am having a flare up. I use heat before then use traction for 10 minutes. Decompression should be slow. Then I ice my neck.
Try an ice bath, is this torture,, yeah but it does work. Hopefully the FDA will approve all level disc replacement and not just two at least 3 or 4. My entire back is screwed up! I'm only 47 years old I shouldn't have to be ailing like this!! It's suicidal pain is what it is,it is what it is becoming.
Could you please make a video about meniscus tears in the knee? If there is a natural treatment or strengthening exercises to heal without surgery, how to heal a grade three meniscus tear for both the external and internal menisci. Thank you very much.
Hello Dr Brian! I am so happy to find you. You are a blessing,I need to ask you if this device could help me? I am 43 and my MRI shows that I have mild straightening cervical lordosis with at C4-C5 central protrusion,C6-C7 small central protrusion.uncovertebral and facet Arthropathy result in mild to moderate left and mild right neural foraminal narrowing. I have a lot of stiffness and a bit of an ache that goes on and off. Could you please answer me? Thank you God bless you
If i get tingling in my arms, and seems like using a foam roller behind my neck helps a little but wondered if this would be something that might help for prolonged relief?
I’ve watched many of your video regarding cervical stenosis. In one you your previous videos you reference the case of Ashley Caldwell’s cervical disc bulge healing over 6 months. I’m wondering if this was one of the treatments used in her case? And if so what other treatments were used in addition? Thanks
Thermotex makes an FAR Neck unit. It may seem pricey at $200 +. But I have a Thermotex Platinum for my lower back. I tried using it for my C4 - C7 degeneration. It does radiate the infrared heat to the neck and shoulder area. It was not enough for this flare up. I just got my neck unit today. The company is in Canada. Overnight delivery is possible if purchased before 1:00pm. I have been on narcotics for years for other problems. I am allergic to Neurontin. My hands ballooned up. I was seeing a Physatrist. He ignored my hand swelling. That was an obvious sign of an allergic reaction. The dude ignored my hands. Said I was uncooperative. Would not continue seeing me. I luckily had a good Rheumatologist. Finding a good physician can all the difference.
As the head is pulled away from the shoulders, are you relying on bodyweight alone to secure the body in a fixed position while the device does its work?
Good Day, I have the Saunders traction device and used it for radiculopathy as well. Question: Is there any contraindication for this device if you also have cervical central canal stenosis?
This doesn't work if you already have weakened/injured cervical spine ligaments, instability in the joints, chronic muscle tension from the injured ligaments, and nerve irritations. You need to address these factors before applying decompression.
This was my question...if its a good idea to try traction while waiting for neurosurgeon appt to see if it helps! (While still avoiding chiropractic adjustments.)
Hi! I am Poonam from India and m suffering from cervical spondylitis .. doctors are advising me for surgery but i am not concern about surgery... please help what should I do...my mri report is... Indentation and mild focal canal stenosis with compression on both existing nerves roots (right> left). Posterocentral annual tear at same level. Please please help me...
Ive always needed a ZERO DEGREE traction but stupid companies dont make it!!! They only make one size fits all tractions and not for RARE spines like mine! Ive done 10 to 20 degrees but it doesn't straighten C1 and C2 pathologies and abnormalities even middle neck thats stuck that way due to a really steep C7 T1 angle.. Mine needs zero degree traction to straighten my CT junction angle to fix my neck and thats caused from 76 degree kyphosis plus T1 thru T5 is translated to the left laterally, it jacks up my 1st rib and shoves it against the shoulder, maybe wedge shaped T1 thru T3 and some wedge shaped neck bones which means my neck could never come back to normal lordosis??
Its just so hard because doctors dont know all this stuff i know about my own body. They never bothered to do full spine xrays and measure cobb angles, draw lines on the xrays and just so much stuff they missed. It wasn't until i found a special corrective chiropractor that finally took postural full spine xrays to show me every thing except for it didnt show my T1 thru T3 if those are wedge shaped.. The ones lower down are clearer and show some wedging it looks like. But that chiro didnt work out, they just didnt understand me and thought they were doing the correct treatment for me. I tried to challenge the treatment and they didnt like it.. Every patient should be challenging their doctor! Doctors would only do neck xrays for years rather than do full spine which showed my back is what was CAUSING my neck problems but Doctors were too blind for that!! 😭😭

Yeah my chiro also cycles identical to what u listed
I will do that w/this little hand pump one too
I think you are right. I feel like it’s worse when I hold too long because my neck is as stiff as a pole.

this was a great video, I am glad the Dr. was asking important questions..... The therapist did not answer whether or not the angle matters though....

Excellent review.
Why does it hurt after I do the traction when I get up?
If i get tingling in my arms, and seems like using a foam roller behind my neck helps a little but wondered if this would be something that might help for prolonged relief?
It depends on what the MRI looks like. You can call 415 925 8200 for a second opinion
Do you increase the strength of the device each week up to say 1/2 or 1/3 of your body weight?
Not typically.
I notice in the video the legs are on an elevated cushion piece. What should we be doing at home for this?
That is more for comfort and is up to you

Yes cervical traction can work well for a broad-based soft disc.

Hi, can you do videos on thoracic herniations
Yes
Thank you very much.
I got mine for 10 bucks at boys and girls club....never been opened or used...still scared
I love mine

I do 30 on the traction table at chiro’s lol
My nerve is just jammed in there!
😳
I'm a small woman. What can you recommend if the two neck gripper things don't quite come in far enough?
You probably have to customize it by talking to your physical therapist
I had neck surgery and have a plate with screws, it this equipment good to purchase?
You should consult your surgeon
Love mine!
