I agree. Outside animals thrive in cooler weather. The Flys, ticks, fleas are gone in cold weather. So no bug issues. It's also a good time to process chicken or other fowl if in a pinch.

Hi from Central Washington State, in Ellensburg in the Foothills of the Cascades , we were told it was going to start snowing around 3pm wednesday into Thursday, and they were calling for 3-8 inches. Well guess what we got 24+ inches.
Ever pass in Washington between the east side of Washington going to the west side has been closed since about 11pm Wednesday night, and isn't even scheduled to even reconsider opening the freeways back open until Sunday at the earliest.
It's a minor inconvenience, but it is absolutely beautiful.
I love watching the Shiver Family.

My Haflinger, no problem. She's got a shaggy winter coat. Jersey steer, not as good as a beef breed, but if he and Honey have plenty of hay, they're good and Honey knows how to break ice to get water. My LGD has a good winter coat. The goats, I let the boys have a sleep over with the girls, added fresh bedding, made sure they had plenty of hay, cleaned up my heated bucket and thankfully it appears to still be working. I did give them a single heat lamp because I have 4 kids and one was the last one in when the storm hit. I had to get him off the hill side, he was wet and shivering. VERY happy I gave them the heat lamp. Barn cat has been allowed in the house with this cold. Ducks and chickens were fed extra. In this kind of cold it is VERY important to NOT restrict food. The ducks that normally sleep on the hill between the cabin and the barn all chose to hang out in the run in with Honey and Chucky. Even the totally free ranging chickens found slightly warmer places to spend the cold nights. Most were just trying to avoid the snow. The hardest part was water. Everything froze up and I couldn't get more water for the goats. Ended up giving them 2 gallons of our drinking water. I don't have running water in my house yet. Getting close, but had to put the work on hold for the winter weather preps. We did not lose power, got about 6 or so inches. Between the woodstove, kerosene heater, and electric space heaters, we stayed mostly warm.

It's been too cold here the last week to be outside enjoying the snow. We have about 2 & 1/2 feet of snow but it has been 18 to 20 below 0 for the last 3 days. Wood stove has been cranked up pretty high but when it gets too hot we just leave the sliding glass door open for a bit. We have also been using one of those fans on our wood stove for about 5 yrs. and love it. They never wear out!

As someone who has grown up in cold climate (NH) with weeks of no power after storms, a tip for those who haven't dealt with keeping your freezer cold...if you don't have a generator, and you know a few days at least in advance of a big storm, freeze bottles of water in your freezer. I prefer 20 ounce soda bottles because I can cram them in between meats and such. I have a full size upright freezer, and it currently has 30 bottles tucked in all the nooks and crannies. Another tip, if it is cold out, you can take your perishables from your fridge and put them in a cooler outside with a little snow. Also frozen meats and such, you can put in totes and put in a shady spot. Either pack snow around them, or layer it inside between the food. It will keep for a long time if it is cold out. We were pretty much off grid when I was a kid, besides electric, and we were able to do this.
