  • What is Powerwax? That's what I asked myself when I saw it. It's a cold wax that is water based from powertexproductsusa.com/ That water based part is huge to me because that means Powerwax plays with acrylics! So I turned on the camera and jumped in. In the video, I'm sharing 9 things I learned while exploring and experimenting in my art journal.

    Thank you so much for all of your amazing videos and doing the leg work for this Powerwax video. I just got mine today and I am in love with it. I did my collage and realized that I mixed more paints than I needed so I grabbed some index cards that were nearby. Wow! I did the mixing on a paper palette and after the index cards were somewhat dry I pressed them into the paint as if it were a gel plate and they turned out amazingl. I now have some great sparks!

    Power wax looks very interesting. I’m curious would gel medium do the same color transparent thing. I love how you can buff when the medium is still moist. Looks like fun. Really like how it works with the stencil! The scrape off is a nice feature too. My favorite thing is the buff off process, lots of potential , love how you explore and explain everything so well and with so much joy. Many thanks. ❤

    This is so informative ! I started tubing around to learn more nitty gritty details about power wax while I’m waiting for my delivery of it, and when I saw the ability with the gel plate too, man am I more excited to get my hands in some wax. Another artist suggested a layer of matte medium on the dry wax before applying acrylics to help with adhesion. Did you happen to do any more experimenting with power wax?

    Great video -- ive been curious about this stuff! Curious -- do you havr an art journal brand / type that you favor? Im guessing your journal needs to have pretty thick paper to hold all this paint and wax?

    Wonderful information. Does the power wax increase the translucency of semi translucent collage paper? Does it need a final coat of acrylic or varnish if you want the effects to last in a framed piece?

    Carolyn, What a nice video you made. I also work with the wax occasionally. Maybe a tip for you ;) Did you know that you can rub the wax with a soft cloth after it is completely dry, you seal your workpiece and it gets an even softer look and it is waterproof ;) You might want to give it a try. Greetings Ellen

    • @mayetmahulilileilani2501
      @mayetmahulilileilani2501 3 місяці тому

      I was wondering if it’s permanent or if it always scrapes off as easily as she showed… so Are you saying the buffing seals it so it’s permanent? Or do you seal it with something else?

    • @EllenBroere-uc3ul
      @EllenBroere-uc3ul 3 місяці тому +1

      @@mayetmahulilileilani2501 If you rub it with a cloth you seal it. But you only do this when you are completely done. I think you can always scratch it. Think of it as an oak cabinet that you rub with polish and then rub out ;)

    Thank you I love this video. Unfortunately it’s not sold in Italy as many artists still paint using traditional mediums. I have found ordering from overseas can be problematic as items get caught at the border and held until they feel like dispersing them.

      That's a bummer that it isn't available in Italy - totally get whe you mean about things caught at the border- have had many an item stuck in customs in the US over the years. Fingers crossed as more people know about it, that you'll be able to get it in Italy!
