  • It is all over for #rishisunak He has been a disaster as Prime Minister and the longer he stays the worse things become. He is not suited to the job and constantly fails and misjudges situations. He is neither respected nor liked and commands very little respect.
Tha country is confronted by problems with #education #trade #economy #travel #farming #mentalhealth and #poverty and yet #sunak obsesses about stopping little boats and #rwanda , a policy which is bound to fail.
The #tories have nothing to gain by keeping Sunak and are likely to replace him after the Local Government elections on 2nd May.

Our daughter is about to leave University, with a Nursing Degree, along with a debt of almost £60,000, with an interest rate of seven percent and rising. She now regrets her decision to try and make a career for herself as the pay she will receive as a Nurse, is not going to be worth going into debt for.
This country is a disgrace for our young people.

In Scotland nurses and all other students, don’t pay tuition fees. Indeed nurses get £10k per year bursary for 3 years. Total difference between England and Scotland, £57,000.

Andrew Marr just released a video telling us all we are all too gloomy, things are going to get magically better within weeks and the economy is booming. It seems that according to Marr, Sunak is very bad at politics and is failing to get the message out at just how well the UK is doing and how rich we all are. I have no words.

Brilliant video... lots of information & well researched. I was particularly interested in University Fees across the European countries. I've been stating this myself. As retired Nurse / Lecturer, student nurses, midwives & doctors are leaving University with debts of over £50,000. It's impossible to ever buy a property with this amount of debt to be repayed. This Tory government has let a generation down. Tories have been obsessed with filling the NHS with overseas workers depleting there own countries. Just to save money on training essential workers.
I am also a W.A.S.P.I women. I would like to know where all my N.I. contributions went? Don't say its because people are living longer...life expectancy has declined rapidly since 2010. Our life expectancy is much lower than Europeans.

Interesting fact: Australia has the highest cancer rates of the whole Western world. It is also known for its high hormone levels in meat. The food and safety authority of Australia advises to eat max once per week red meat and in the EU it is banned for a reason. Although the relationship is hard to proof, it is remarkable because many will blame the sun for these high numbers but that doesn't make sense either if one looks at the type of cancers. But let's listen to Rees Mogg when he was asked about this: "I want cheaper food, I want hormone-injected beef from Australia." No joke he said this. Let me translate this for you: "he doesn't give a damn about you"

To transit a country's airspace, any aircraft or airline needs the permission of that country.
This may not be forthcoming if the flight is part of an illegal act contrary to the UN Convention. This requirement is even more important in the case of a military aircraft.
As Rwanda is landlocked, a lot of countries would need to grant permission, and this is not necessarily guaranteed to be given.
    Just a thought....

I think our biggest problem in the UK is that most voters read papers owned by those living offshore who have a vested interest in the UK being isolated as in Brexit (so they could avoid tax). Why hasn't there so far been a proper investigation into how Johnson and co threw billions of our money away to their mates (Test and Trace, PPE etc)?. The media bias and the distraction of royal stories (Kate's op, Harry and Meghan etc) stop Brits knowing and thinking about real issues which affect them - the cost of living, NHS problems etc. It's hard for a decent bloke like Starmer to cut through the noise and puff, but it is very worthwhile reading his biography so you can understand what a real decent, principled leader we can have next.

Boris left two legacies. First a party purged of competent Brexit sceptics and second a front bench so devoid of talent so that he couldn't be challenged except he was and "Carry On PM" has been the result. Makes me wish Jim Hacker was actually in charge.

The British People are waking up to self-government. That's actually a lot harder than being governed by a foreign power, but it's better in the long-term. Trust me on that😉
It's not important how you voted, what matters is the cumulative legal result, which was a win for the side opposing yours. That's how democracy works. Please learn to respect that process.
The UK was not a member of the EU when we had an Empire on which the sun never set, the greatest in world history (not that I'm advocating a return to those times, we just want to do as well as we can with what we have now).
We'll be just fine running our own affairs again. It might take a decade - maybe two - for us to learn how to govern ourselves again, but Brexit is for 10,000 years. Take an aspirin, have a nice nap, and you'll feel much better.

The so-called "Rwanda Scheme" is a pretty accurate summation of all that is wrong with the British polity - its governance, its constitution (I use the word advisedly), and its public. Within it is contained and made visible every departure from what is generally recognised elsewhere as a functioning democracy, as well as how each departure is successfully exploited in the name of "pursuing policy" by a small but powerful group within society to advance their own narrow agenda and aims, many of which amount simply to amassing wealth for themselves.
To hijack a democracy and pursue these agendas the group needs only to be facilitated in two ways - by securing for themselves a position as close to the centre of power as possible and by exercising that power over a people rendered docile and emasculated of all political agency through being kept largely ignorant, fatalistic, and convinced not to recognise and abhor these traits but to be inordinately "proud" of them as "proof" of how "exceptional" this makes them over "others". It could be argued that those pursuing this aim in the UK enjoyed, through generations of a rigorously applied "class system" in which most of the ingredients were already long in place, something of a head start over others who might try this elsewhere.
In such a failed polity the concept of law itself becomes a semantically amorphous concept - it is presumed to be simply one expression of this group's power over society and the obligation to adhere to it something that the public generally assumes to vary according to the privilege extended to individuals by dint of their "place" within that society - the more privilege and closer to the seat of power one is the less the obligation holds. International law, by the same reasoning, doesn't even get a look-in. As something that is generally made to apply to governments anyway it is in the ruling group's interest to "disapply" or ignore it when it does not suit their interests, just as much as it is in their interest to ensure that as few people as possible in their society ever actually grasp the concept of why it exists, what it is, and how it applies to them.
"Brexit" was an indication to outside observers of just how rotten the UK polity had become in practically all of its aspects relating to democracy, governance and widespread social ignorance. The "Rwanda Scheme" - whether it ultimately results in the illegal deportation of unfortunate individuals or not - will simply cement this perception abroad of an arrogant self-serving anti-democratic ruling elite facilitated by a public successfully convinced they are powerless to stop them the moment it becomes "Law".

The dilemma being that it took an elective dictatorship to enable a minority-elected government, with only 43.6% of registered votes in support. The Rwanda "policy" (or scam) didn't appear in their manifesto. Britain is NOT a democracy.
