- Over the past eight years since 2016 the U.K. economy and society have been severely damaged and may never fully recover following the madness of #brexit . Incompetence, dishonesty and corruption have all featured in a series of governments under five different prime ministers. #borisjohnson and #nigelfarage bear the greatest responsibility for the extreme damage which the UK has suffered. A series of incompetent and often self-serving politicians have caused the U.K. economy to decline and for the country to have become a worldwide laughing stock. Those responsible should never be forgotten or forgiven including #rishisunak #suellabraverman #pritipatel Kemi Badenoch, Robert Jenrick and many others

I come from a huge family/relatives, no one will ever vote Tory ever again.

The sad and disgraceful thing, is that these politicians who do lose their seats, will be on a very nice pension that most working people can only dream about, and to add insult to injury, working people have to pay into their pension fund for years. As an Irish person, and like many Irish people no doubt, my most abiding memory of the past 14 years of Tory government was that infamous incident when Priti Patel suggested that Britain stop exports of food to the Irish population in order to force the Irish government to "fall into line" and allow a border on the island of Ireland, in contravention of the Good Friday Agreement. Echoes of the great famine. Two things she failed to realize:
(1) Ireland exports more food to the UK than vice versa, and
(2) That sort of behaviour only fuels Irish determination even more - a fact she would have been aware of if only she knew a little about the history of these islands.
Ironically, her most obvious legacy, and that of her incompetent cronies, is the thousands of food banks that have sprung up in her own country during their period in power. Good riddance !!

Just consider the piss poor track record of the Tories over the past 14 years. We've had austerity. An ill-founded referendum leading to Brexit. Brexit itself, leading to massive economic damage and social division, even to the extent of dividing families and ending friendships. Gross levels of corruption. Huge political instability, leading to FIVE Prime Ministers during this period. A poor handling of the COVID pandemic. And the very worst types of people in key government positions one could possibly imagine, leading to the worst governments ever to be in power. And on top of this record NHS waiting lists and failing infrastructure. All of this on the Tories watch. Failure upon failure.
People ask if labour will be any better. Could they be worse? I am minded of an Iraqi chap who upon seeing the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003 said: "Today I'm very happy. Tomorrow I start worrying". Perhaps we need to hope rather than worry from this Friday onwards, and make sure that hope turns into something more than a mere feeling.

I'm out in Puglia with my boyfriend and his family. They literally thought I was joking when I told them how horrific things are after 14 years of Tory brutality. How they left the NHS and mental health services so decimated that when my autistic sister attempted suicide by overdose, an ambulance was going to take at least 2 hours to reach her and they begged my parents to rush her there themselves. How such a horrific lack of mental health support in my area, drove my amazing beautiful big sister to the point of no return. That day will forever haunt my memory, everytime I hear a ringtone my heart skips a beat as I remember the morning I had to listen to her telling me on the phone that nothing could help her now. That she wanted me to live my life, to forget her, that I was her beautiful little sister and that she loved me, while I desperately cried down the phone that she needed to stay awake, to stay with me. She miraculously survived. So many didn't. Never forget or forgive what they have done to us all. They are exactly as Bevan described them...

I remember, when the Tories won in 2010, they said Labour had left them a note saying there was no money. The thing is, though, that there is plenty of money. The rich are just not being taxed for it. If it is not hiding idly in a tax haven, it is distorting the overvalued property market, coming to grasping landowners from exorbitant rent, or being invested frivolously in the stock market. Too often it is not being invested in real projects to solve real problems, or to help improve real economic competence.
An excellent retrospective analysis of the rogues gallery of individuals that have sadly had too much influence in British Politics over the past 14 years. I suppose you could also add George Osborne to the list, but thank you very much Michael.
