I was able to get my hands on a 2024 Canyon Denali in transit to a dealership in central California. I called the dealership spoke with a sales person, found out when the truck was to be delivered, I put $500 deposit to hold it for me. March 8th ( 24) took delivery of the Canyon Denali, so far I’m enjoying the handling and responsiveness of the 2.7 turbo four-cylinder engine. I have over 2000 miles on it.
My 2024 (1150 miles) currently sits at the dealer going on 2 weeks. The roof dent issue has apparently spilled into the 2024s. Oh and there is not one but 2 oil leaks, one of which is the rear main seal that involves dropping the transmission to fix. The adaptive cruise warning light triggered even though I wasn't using it, and the check engine light was on just for good measure. I've asked GMC to replace the truck and you all here know the answer to that...
So many incorrect stats where do I start.
1. AEV is north of 66k, 56k is the AT4X
2. Tire size incorrect on the AEV not 33s it comes with 35s
3. AT4X comes with same shocks as the AEV edition
4. Was other stuff incorrect can't remember them all!
I took delivery of my '24 Canyon AT4 (in BLUE!) on March 30th, 8 months after I ordered it as a '23. I'm patient, and despite the UAW strike, stop-sale, roof flex fix, software reprogramming, update to 11-inch dash display...I didn't mind the wait. My '17 Colorado Z71 only had 31,000 miles and was pissing me off by randomly not giving up the ignition key for 10 or so minutes after shutting it off - I forgot twice, once at home, once at work, with dead battery both times after several hours of sitting. Drove away from the GMC dealer feeling a bit dirty, as I felt the Colorado was worth a couple thousand more than I got for it, and 7.5% interest rate despite having a 799 credit rating, 500 to special order, 500 military discount, and 4,000 @ signing...
I'm not paying 50, 000 plus for piddly 4 cylinder over reved by a turbo. You'll be lucky to get 150,000 miles on that engine.
They didn’t start production until January 2 and they had a stop sale period in February.
Did the fix the roof sheet metal dent issues?
I bought a 23 and the next day I took it through the car wash, the blow dryer caved in the roof. GM sent the dealer support patches to fix the problem. The dealer did the install that fixed the problem but did some damage to the interior. I’m taking it back and exchanging it for a 24 that doesn’t have this issue.

@@joegrahe3958 …So I took it back and got a 24, it has a sunroof so I definitely won’t have that issue again. But now I have another problem. There is a spot on the door about 4” long and a 1” high that is clearly lighter than the rest of the paint. When you look closely it looks like the paint was wiped when it was wet then the clear coat was put on. Called the dealer and he said that should be covered under warranty. I’ll find out today. Are they going to install that kit for you ?
@@-What-are-your-thoughtsmy OCD would be in overdrive over the paint issue. Shame- we pay top dollar now for sloppy workmanship .and yes they are installing the kit- and btw there is also 2 oil leaks, one which requires dropping the transmission. Fun times.
@@joegrahe3958No one is forcing you to over pay for cheap workmanship. After driving Chevy trucks for 25 years, I finally switched to Nissan. GMC and Chevy are crap.
Want the new Denali but dealers suck . Goin to downsize from 2020 f150

It was only for 12 units, and it was corrected immediately, there was no actual issues but to be safe they offered a recal and no one came forth as there were no other trucks with a cracked engin block. I was a isolated incident that GM took seriously.
For the price difference of the AEV & a stock frontier, ranger lariat, Colorado, or mid tier Tacoma, you can drop $15-20,000 extra & have a more capable truck with hand picked aftermarket parts. Can have a bed rack, lights, wheel/tire setup of your choice, ect. I don’t see the value here..
The benefit of the AEV package is that everything is under warranty, but I agree, the components themselves do not justify an $11,000 price. However, the standard ZR2 and AT4X are impressive rigs, and definitely worth the money if you’re really gonna use the truck off-road.

It was 12 engines out of 400,000 produced to date. And it’s “they’re,” not “their.”

Exactly. It’s a non-issue. Casting defects were isolated to a small batch of blocks, and the issues shows itself very quickly.
So are they in process to or have been shipping? Trying to order the 24 Denali the way I want a bunch of dealers stalling? Are the bugs fixed and yea what about the roof dents ? Thanks
As far as I know, the issues have been corrected and production has continued. We have two AT4s supposed to be delivered to the dealer within 4 weeks, and a Colorado within 6 weeks. Our dealer has both on the lot every time I go in for oil changes, but not these color/configuration we wanted.
