This is such a fun song. Love Lionel Richie. I didn't catch it the first time I watched this but the first guy who was having dinner with the girl and came into the room to see was going on was Cheech Marin of Cheech and Chong. And of course the other guy was Rodney Dangerfield. The effect that did with dancing on the ceiling is an homage to a famous dancing scene by Fred Astaire in the movie Royal wedding. Do you know what this video made me realize? That MTV isn't what it was, anymore. We were stationed in Italy from 82-86... during the MTV Era. Even Italy had a version called Video Musica. Sad that we don't get to see the artists interpretation now.
Rodney Dangerfield at the end was the icing on the cake. You guys should check out some of his stand ups when you have the time. He was the King of Comedy. I loved his interactions with Johnny Carson.
Back in the early 2000s, my cousin threw a formal dress party, but still a party. Wasn't until he put on this, then 20-25 year old song that everyone started really partying. We were only kids when the song came out but it kicked the party off.
This reminds me of a few similar-era songs by bands I don't think you've tried: And We Danced/The Hooters Walking on Sunshine/Katrina and the Waves (for Female Friday?) Cold Blood/Kix

Richie is a very talented artist. When the 80s came around he did have a couple of slip ups. This was one of them.
Love this song. Whenever I hear this, I think of my '86 Mets! The song was a hit right around Sept./Oct. of that year.
Prolific songwriter and legendary talent. 😍👍
This was mentioned in other comments here but Rhythm of the Night by Debarge is a fun dance song.
Love Lionel Ritchie music

You should definitely check out Running with the Night. Great song!
2 of my fave all time songs are Lionel Richie tunes … Destiny and the duet version of Hello off his Tuskegee album
Always makes me get up and dance my classic go to song
This reminds me of a few similar-era songs by bands I don't think you've tried:
And We Danced/The Hooters
Walking on Sunshine/Katrina and the Waves (for Female Friday?)
Cold Blood/Kix
This is very good feeling song.
There is a "making of" video of this video. It shows the elaborate sound stage with rotating stage and camera positions. It is quite interesting to see what went into making this video.
Great memories...loved this song when it came out and still love it today...so good..Lionel is a musical genius!
Fred Astaire was dancing on the ceiling in 1951 in the movie Royal Wedding, you should react to that scene as it is on UA-cam easily found.
