Trust Tim, these pick ups are amazing. I work beside Solo music and grabbed these about a year ago. Put them in all of my Jazz basses. you will not be disappointed
Wow, they REALLY pop! Excellent! Now we need a signature Rickenbacker replacement pickup!! Haha (That's what I have) Come on Geddy! Great demo, Tim. Thanks!
Thank you for the demo and thank you for the background on the pickups. Yes, I am close to pulling the trigger on these bad-ass pickups. Stay well, Tim.
Great video Tim, Tom is a master at winding pick-ups. I have had a set of his Ged pick-ups in my Geddy lee jazz since 2014 and the difference between them and the stock fender ones is like night and day. I also have them in another jazz bass, plus he's also gone to the extra mile by doing me a 51 single coil for a 51 RI MIJ P bass and a stack pot that I have. I am in the UK but he's my go to man. Nothing is too much trouble and service is faultless.
Hello from Montreal, I've been pimping up my mexican GL jazz bass in the last year. It's been professionally painted Seafoam green with matching headstock (see Read Custom Guitar on fb) to look like the one on the Clockwork Angels tour , I've replaced the neck to a more stable (a little thicker) neck from Warmoth it's maple with pearl inlays beautiful. So the next obvious change is the pick-ups and now seeing your demo I have no choice but to put these Solo pick-ups in. I just want to thank you for your videos and passion for your craft. All the best best
öldtimer because, simply put to my ears, the Brantley rewinds sound better. The stock US Geddy Lee Jazz Bass pups are good, but they still sound a little thin in comparison to the TB Rewinds. Let’s ask yourself this… Why doesn’t Geddy use the stock Fender US Geddy Lee Jazz Bass pick ups? If you can’t figure out why by listening to them in this video idk what to tell you. Either way it’s all personal preference so I don’t judge you for not wanting to buy them. I liked them so much I order a second set for a project jazz bass I’m working on.
@@Steeleyes61 I'm about to order a set to put in my custom shop jazz. It has whatever the "75 custom shop" pickups were at the time and I've never loved it. Just thin and hollow sounding. Way too Marcus Miller and not enough Geddy. Looking forward to seeing how they do.
I have a Geddy USA J Bass that is 100% stock. I bought a set of the TB rewounds planning to put them in but just couldn't make myself do it. Instead, I ended up putting the TBs in a 60s spacing J parts build I did. They do sound awesome, but I have no complaints about the stock pickups in my USA Geddy either. I'm on more of a P Bass kick lately, but this video makes me want to get those Js out and jam them again. Cheers!
Thanks for the demo on these, Tim! I'm curious how the pickups of a USA Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass compare to these. Fender describes the pickups on the USA Geddy Bass as, "Custom voiced, pair of American Vintage '70s Lee signature pickups provides plenty of punch and clarity along with genuine vintage Fender vibe.".
Hey Tim...just noticed ...it seems like you have a Babicz on that Geddy...how do you like it in comparison to the BadAss? Also interesting that used a standard SansAmp Bass Driver DI Pedal vice any of the actual a Geddy pedal/ DI or preamp. Sounded great.
Hi Tim, what pot sizes are you using for the vol. and tone? 250K? 500K? What size tone cap. Thanks, any info is much appreciated! And also, great video!
Hey Tim on your Geddy Lee Jazz. Is that a Japan model? And did you have the Fetts Plecked? I had My Japan model Set up at Bass Central. By this guy named. Grass Hopper. He did a great job it plays better. But I get a clicking from the strings that I never heard when I played the USA model. Do what it might be?
Hi Steve! All three of mine are Japanese models. Grasshopper is a buddy of mine and does great work. Perhaps mention it to him, he is a top notch tech.
Hey Tim, Thanks for the demo. Just contacted Tom for a set of these. Should be here next week. Can't wait. Any chance you'd share the Para Driver settings that you use. On this video. Looks like level is about 9:00, tones at 3:00 and drive at about noon, but I could be totally of. Thanks
Hey Tim Geddy Lee Nordstedt here, I bought the Tom Brantley/Geddy Lee pick ups from Tom, had them put in and played it at home thru my Sans Amp RBI. Dont hear the Geddy Sound. You think it could be, Im running my wrack thru a 210 Markbass Cab? these cabs tend to be more bassy sounding.
Okay I dont have a Geddy Jazz bass... Yet. But I cant help but wonder how these would sound in my maple bodied 70's Classic Vibe Squier Jazz. oh and #timstaraceismyspiritanimal
Thanks. Might need to get these pups. Did you find that they specifically helped the low E grow l? I can get the other the strings to sound decent but the low E is lacking and I’ve adjusted it so many times
Tim thanks BASS bro , for the info, jeez your fucking JAZZ is off the chain, I play Sadowskys but have a geedy SIG, MiM, I'm lowering the strings now and the neck needs tweaking, help if you have any more information you can give me on it, you a killer musician
Trust Tim, these pick ups are amazing. I work beside Solo music and grabbed these about a year ago. Put them in all of my Jazz basses. you will not be disappointed
They did sound great but I think a comparison with a Jazz with stock pickups played the same way would have been nice :)
This pick up has been on my must have list for a while , thanks for the Demo Tim .
Thanks for enjoying it

Thanks Tim...very informative...rig sounds awesome as always
Sounds so good!!
Thanks Tim for the awesome demo. These pickups are just amazing!
It is my pleasure, and they sure are awesome!!
Just ordered a set for my Geddy Lee bass. You're such an awesome player and a happy dude.
Thank you for the demo and thank you for the background on the pickups. Yes, I am close to pulling the trigger on these bad-ass pickups. Stay well, Tim.
The best! Parabéns Tim pela divulgação destes bons equipamentos. Sucesso!
Just bought them from Solo. Can't wait to try them.
Very Cool, ordered them. TY
Shipped mine today thanks for the recommendation
Awesome Bass Licks!!

When you kicked in that Paradrive it turned that Jazz Bass into a Ricky
amazing, tank you for information....Paulonez Brazil
Owner of nearly 20 basses - zero jazz basses - NEVER liked the thinness - this might have just changed that... AND i'm local to Solo Guitars!!!
Thanks for the heads up Tim! Just ordered a set for my US Geddy Jazz Bass.

Cheers Tim just ordered mine going in a Geddy Lee MIM 2013 sunburst Jazz Bass
Good man 👍
Awesome job on the Big Money line. I may have to get a set of these for my MIJ '75 reissue.
Thanks

Wow thanks i was thinking of changing my mim Geddy Lee pickup's
These are incredible
@@TimStarace still waiting to see if they ship to The UK Liverpool
He will ship to the UK, I have used them since 2014 and have 4 sets.
You won't be disappointed with these.
I have just ordered mine for my 72 JB
Cool!
Thanks for sharing this with us. Careful around 4:01, copyright police will be all over this :)
Thinking of trying a GK 210 Cab.
Thanks for the demo on these, Tim!

Yup, I'm wondering the same....
Hey Tim, I got a question for you!
Do you know what ratio of the neck/Bridge pickup that Geddy used?
Did he have both wide open?
Hey Tim...just noticed ...it seems like you have a Babicz on that Geddy...how do you like it in comparison to the BadAss? Also interesting that used a standard SansAmp Bass Driver DI Pedal vice any of the actual a Geddy pedal/ DI or preamp. Sounded great.
I used the Paradriver so I could easily bypass the pedal for the demo
Hey Tim besides replacing the pick ups on your Japan Geddy Bass. Did you have the frets pleked?
Hi Tim, what pot sizes are you using for the vol. and tone? 250K? 500K? What size tone cap. Thanks, any info is much appreciated! And also, great video!
I wonder how they would work with a bass with a preamp ? (Sire V7 vintage / Ash)
Tim, are you going through the rack mount Geddy preamp?
Hey Tim on your Geddy Lee Jazz. Is that a Japan model? And did you have the Fetts Plecked? I had My Japan model

Question: I already do have a Fender Ged sig, will these pickups boost my Geddyness even more? Not that I am even close!
They certainly wont hurt!
I was wondering too!
i have Fralins in mine
What would you suggest for a prewire kit to go with those pick-ups?
I guess any quality kit would work

@@TimStarace Thanks Tim. You 'da man!
One I wasn't clear on - these aren't already in the Fender Geddy Lee basses, right?
Nevermind, that was a dumb question.
Where can I get a YYNOT T-shirt like that? (I already have these pickups and a Geddy Tech21 preamp) lol
Hi Tim, I think we are out of this particular style but we have others available at www.yynotband.com
Are you hitting fresh roundwound strings like they owe you money? That is 90% of it.

Okay I dont have a Geddy Jazz bass... Yet. But I cant help but wonder how these would sound in my maple bodied 70's Classic Vibe Squier Jazz.
oh and #timstaraceismyspiritanimal
They would sound great!
can they just go in a fender american standard jazz bass?
Yup!
Which tech21 pedal are you using? The para driver?
Yes
Thanks. Might need to get these pups. Did you find that they specifically helped the low E grow l? I can get the other the strings to sound decent but the low E is lacking and I’ve adjusted it so many times
@@ajpyyz Try adjusting the nut height a tad lower so the E just barely "plinks" off the first fret
Hi
I'm curious if you tried playing Reggae with that bass.
Obviously it would be great as Aston Barrett himself uses a 70s jazz.
Should I get these or Lindy fralins?
That is entirely up to you
will these work on a sire V5?
best thing would be to contact Tom directly at Tombrantleyrewinds@gmail.com
@@TimStarace thanks for the reply

PS I can’t turn up my tone at all or I have this terrible clicking sound.
I think his stock of pickups will be gone after this lol
It's in you hands, not your equipment. Work on your chops.
