      I appreciate the kind words! Matt Horn and Chris Hammill were a huge influence on wanting to create these videos.

    Finally found this vid again after like a month LOL. I saw it on my UA-cam home page couple weeks ago and quickly browsed through it thinking I would watch it later but ended up forgetting. Glad it came back up. Loved this vlog cuz its like a combined version of Chris Hammil's and Matt Horn's type of video (Im just a guy who likes watching sound & lighting gear setups😅😅). Keep them coming👍👍

      Haha. I'm a drummer too and do EVERYTHING for my band. PA, lights of course my drums and merch. The bass player goes DI & doesn't sing. He literally walks in with his pedal board and bass. Guitarist same deal just has a small "monitor" amp. Singer, she has a wireless and has a hard time with that. I have been teaching them but, you have to be interested in "gear". I know as much about guitar & bass gear as they do from just researching and fiddling with stuff. This set up is great here!

    Great video man! Something I learned from Matt's videos and my bands shows is to start plugging from the console and leave the extra at the mic stand. To avoid a pile of clutter next to the main console

    Highly recommend the Donner Wireless DMX for the lighting saves ton's of time. Each of my light bars has on so all you do is plug the bar in and everything is ready

      @@chuckcaldwell8423 I believe that's what we use. We still daisy the fixtures together but we needed to change out some of the cables that went bad.

    My heart goes out to you there, I was a bass player in a UK covers band for over 20 years, and I also set up PA, lights and did both FOH and monitor mix (annoyingly both IEM and wedges) and was more or less the music director. First to arrive and last to leave. Great times though but decided it was time to call it a day last September. Enjoyed the vid though, keep it up.

    Great video, in the style of Chris Hammill and Matt Horn! I also run an XR18 based IEM system for my band and play drums so cool to compare notes.
    Personally for a room this size, to cut down on a couple of cables/mics I would just mic the kick and no other drums , but I’m lazy 😅. Keep making videos!

    • @DrumsAndDecibels

      I like to mic the toms just to get that extra low end that I feel is missing from these smaller setups. It may be a little overkill for most places but it sounds great. Thanks for watching!

    We use an XR18 to run our IEMs and have a split to send to FOH. Works great in venues with house PA or when we hire sound. I play an ekit and everyone is direct, so we have a silent stage. We need to run a crowd mic though.

    • @DrumsAndDecibels
      @DrumsAndDecibels  Місяць тому +1

      The XR18 is awesome for what we're doing right now but looking to go bigger for more track count. Adding the crowd mic helped alleviate the "fish bowl" effect since we run a nearly silent stage.

      @DrumsAndDecibels I have a Soundcraft 24UiR and I must say that it's the best thing I bought in a long time! But if it were to break down, I'd replace it with a StudioLive 32R from Presonus since from now on I mainly use Studio One Pro for tracks, click, midi and cues. Found your channel today, I love it! I'm also a fan of Matt Horn, Chris Hamill, Tank the Tech and Gabriel from Drum Beats Online (I Prevail).. and I must say that you sure do hell of a job, keep up the good work man!

    Damn, that is a LOT of gear for a bar band gig! (Bar band bassist/sound guy here.) How long did setup take from unloading the trailer to downbeat?

    • @DrumsAndDecibels
      @DrumsAndDecibels  Місяць тому +1

      And we keep adding MORE haha! We usually show up ~3 hours before showtime to set up and make sure there is enough extra time to troubleshoot issues or grab some food.

      What a coincidence, I have the EV ZLX 12p with 18” subs in my cart @sweetwater. Some guys on a forum talk to me out of getting 15s up up. Wondering if I should go back? Also do those wheels come on the subwoofers or did you have to drill them in yourself? I looked at IEM but that stuff adds up quick for someone just starting out with a PA and ended up going for 3-10 inch wedges. Your video was recommended in my feed so I just subscribed. I play bass and trying to get a band together. Figure if I have a PA maybe it’ll be easier.

      @@ronmexico1975Little piece of advice if you're starting, maybe you should rent your PA for a while in order to create some kind of emergency fund. If something breaks well you'll be covered and it gives you the benefit of trying things for yourself without committing. I wish I had this advice when I started haha. 😂
