Even when this game isn't canon, they pictured pretty well the fact Zero doesn't need his Z-Saber in his awakening to destroy reploids.
I've wondered, did Wily intend for zero to use a saber, or was it something he took up after he was rebuilt in X2?

This fight perfectly demonstrates the huge gap between the regular robots of the classic series and reploids
Does it? Zero is by all accounts not a reploid yet. Reploids were Dr. Light's invention. He's a robot master with a program. That program is the Zero Virus. As for his strength, he should've been crushed by Rock without any armor. I can believe a completed Zero can mess Sigma up, but you mean to tell me that Mega Man, armed to the teeth and with years more experience, can't beat a prototype that's being made with materials from his time period? That's just silly. Dr. Light would've sent Rock back out with stronger weapons to eliminate Zero, and the entire X series is called into question if Rock and Dr. Light are fully aware of Zero. Dr. Light built the Mega Arm to fight the Stardroids. He built the Black Hole Bomb. He built X. He can arm Rock to fight an unfinished Zero. That's before even mentioning that Rock destroyed Ra Moon with two overcharged busters.
@@Emberson-9000 I think it'd make sense for Zero to have the advantage against Mega man if Dr Wily was able to collect data on Mega man and his battles then implement it into Zero since he was meant to surpass normal mega man in every way possible, even in prototype phase he'd probably give Mega man his toughest battle yet.

@@Gacel_ if Eurasia never fell neo Arcadia wouldnt exist the station falling was like a meteor making the surface unlivable for humans neo arcadia is the first surface city humans created once the surface regained a livable amount of oxygen again note the place on earth where the station hit in mmz has the only real organic plant life we have seen. none of that cybernetic forests we've seen in the series like in mmz 2 or 3 mmz4 is the beginning of nature reforming wile even tries to destroy it so nature never returns and humans are forced to only live in neo arcadia

Ok, somebody hear me out on this idea.
In Mega Man 1, Roll was originally meant to have a much larger role in the game. In addition to the storyline revolving around her being kidnapped by Dr. Wily, so a giant version of her was going to be fought as the final boss.
So what if when Roll is captured, Wily decides to reprogram her and upgrade her, in a way not unlike Mega Man's own upgrades from the Lab Assistant he was into the Super Fighting Robot he is today, but with Wily's own devious twists added on.
I'm thinking a final boss after a Wily Machine. You find Roll, wearing a familiar helmet and armor. She draws a green beam saber as her arm converts into a buster and you're in for the fight of your life.
A twisted version of an iconic battle that'll happen a over a century latter.

The whole day of sigma OVA gives us a hint to what proto X would be and i like to think it would be similar to what zero does in Unlimited, Zero just walks up to Megaman almost curious probably asking "What is this blue thing in front me"
X would probably as much if not more curious about stuff around him, but who knows, only Capcom will tell (we need a classic megaman game to tie to the X series dammit)
Even tho Megaman survive without his mega buster, he still be fighting for peace

VERY late reply, but MegaPhilX stated that he didn't want to spoil the final boss of the game, so he only hinted at Zero's appearance in the song name.

the fact that Zero curbstomped Mega Man in his Prototype form just goes to show how badass he is
And the power creep in the X series compared to Classic
And X just beats (complete) zero like it's not even that hard
I refuse to believe that a Zero prototype in the classic series would be as strong as he is later. I mean, he's still a Wily creation. An incomplete one without any armor. You're telling me that he's somehow made of a buster proof metal that even Dr. Light didn't think to arm Rock against? In fact, that happened once in Mega Man World 5, and Dr. Light sent Rock back out with a better weapon. Meeting Zero, getting beaten, and then watching Wily take him away should prompt Rock to get back out there and stop him from being finished. If Rock won, and the fortress exploded, that would explain how Zero was salvaged without anyone suspecting him. Wily could've finished him in secret, and the X series could happen. An aware Rock would never let Wily finish Zero.

I mean, it was stated that Zero is made out of Bassnium. Which is the same material bass is made out of. It's never really explained wether Bassnium is a metal or energy but it does make Robots built using this material really strong (Bass aside). Zero however is made out of more Bassnium compared to Bass which would explain why Megaman wasn't able to dent him.
@@xavyishvalda3608 If Bass is made of bassnium, that means it's not a mysterious metal Light wouldn't know about. Bass has been around for years. Light would absolutely know about bassnium to some degree, and at least enough to arm Mega Man against it. Light figured out how to punch through Stardroid armor without ever having a Stardroid in his lab to study, and Bass has been to Light Labs before.

Man needs SOME credit for making the battle theme of the impossible bossfight "Division By Zero"
Playing through the boss fight, Zero doesn't seem to attack you when you're holding still. He just walks up to close to Megaman and inspects him, as if he's curious who and what his combatant is.
It's honestly very interesting to just watch Zero watch Megaman, staring him down and trying to understand the current circumstances of the fight. It adds more depth to the story and changes how you look at the boss fight.

Zero: I can't examine you without getting closer.

It also fits the character a lot better. At that point in time, Zero was still a work in progress. He was sentient but didn't have all his programming implemented yet. As a result he was mostly a blank slate. Imagine waking up one day, your mind fully developed despite not even existing previously, with no knowledge or memories apart from maybe your name, a full language set and the full ability to control your body. That's probably what it was like for Zero.
Zero wasn't infected with the Maverick Virus until well after he was sealed. The official development documentation actually slates this as having happened after Wily's death, not before.
Also, keep in mind that Zero doesn't actually attack unless attacked in that game. Mega Man has to fire the first shot for the fight to actually happen.
I also think MegaPhilX picked up on the trope and nod to Terminator in X5's ending for Zero, and likewise did a bit of that here. Like the final fight in T1 and how it was mirrored in T4 salvation.
