Thanks! Glad this approach to making the video worked out. I did want to try and give a feel as if you were there to a lot of people who were not able to be there in person.
Thanks Joe! Hope you had a great time. 2:36. Rear casting. Machined, various locating pins fitted. Bottom. Torx head grub screws in the vertical face. Others around the casting. Rear casting uppers, the buttress and tailgate posts. Circular recesses where the backing panel for the Stainless Panel is bolted through. 11:11. Battery pack, seat assembly. I think it was the underside of these battery packs seen being swing around by robots in Joe’s 29 Nov 007 photo. Different to the Model Y battery pack in that the Cybertruck top cover has more height above the joining flange. On the Model Y the top cover is comparatively flat. 11:20. Suspended frame. Stainless steel panel adhesive fixed to the backing panel would seem likely. Rear quarters are the same backing panel/Stainless Steel panel construction.
BEAUTIFULLY SHOT VIDEO JOE! LOVED HOW YOU OVER-DUB'D YOUR NARRATION THUSLY NOT TALKING OVER OTHERS WHO WERE DOING THEIR OWN VIDEO. YOU SHOT THE MAIN PRODUCT AND NOT WHO ELSE WAS THERE FROM OTHER CHANNELS. YOUR OBERVATIONS AND COMMENTS WERE SPOT ON AND MEANINGFUL TO YOUR FOLLOWERS. THANK YOU
Thank you for the kind words! I wanted to cover this in a different manner and show views and interest items in a way you wouldn’t see on other channels, and I’m glad you appreciate my approach.
So many people fix up or customize their vehicles. Looking through All the Design and Engineering... I have to say there is very Little you could do to make the Cyber Truck ANY Nicer!!! Amazing Work TESLA People!
Joe, yours is the best engineering tour of the event by far. - thankyou so much. I have a page of notes about repackaging it slightly for better space use - including where Rivian has a tunnel behing the back seat, the CT appears to have lazially used space.
Joe, your presentation of the black-wrapped truck, the camper, and the 'cybertruck'-label wrap was much more impressive than the Tesla event. Those who arrived on time had to suffer a stupid twenty-five minutes of silly 'artsy' footage. I thought it was a waste of time and poorly executed, and am glad you do what you do.
Thanks for this 'on the ground' reporting format Joe, it gives us small time investors who live too far to conveniently be there a very good feel of the actual event. I have seen some people who expressed disappointment at how it didn’t overwhelm them with the way the event went, well I have seen slick, very polished and grand events for products that were really pretty pedestrian. Tesla went the other way and presented a very advanced and yet to be fully appreciated product using a simple, downbeat almost homely approach. Maybe they could have used a grand style like Mercedes or BMW would but that’s just not how advertising averse Tesla does it. Though Tesla, and Elon, can be described as over promising FSD, time shows that they normally under promise for example the way model Y is so good that it has sold so well in markets around the globe.
16:21 I believe they replaced the rear door on the Cybertruck from the bullet testing. In the extended video of the firing test, that window was cracked from two bullets hitting in the same place.
Agreed... the passenger rear door got the 12 gauge buckshot and ended up with a cracked glass so if this is the one and only truck they shot up, then that door had to be changed out.
Wow awesome coverage of the event Joe! Very cool to see those close shots of the cybertruck. I indeed really like the look of the satin black cybertruck! Can't wait for part 2! Thank you again!
I think the black satin wrap is the best version I’ve seen so far. Really hope Tesla opens up the wrap color variety to a full spectrum of options. That would really be a great way for purchasers to customize vehicles to their individual preferences.
There are thousands of detailers around that can wrap your car in any colour or pattern you like; there's no need for Tesla to handle that part. My interpretation of those three wraps they offer is that they wanted to pave the way, i.e. showing normal customers that that is possible and a thing, as well as giving them an idea about the cost. Wrapping still is a niche thing.
Thank you Joe, great to see not only the delivery event but also the structure inside of the entrance. I knew I could count on you. 😊 This truck is gonna rock the auto industry. Go Cybertruck.
I appreciate the inside point of view and sharing the things we were not able to see during the event video. Thank you. 2025 is my guessed date for delivery, now if I just need my 2002 car to hang on a bit longer ;)
Hey Joe, as usual, you have some perfect timing. At three minutes and 49 seconds of this video, the lady with the brown leather jacket, sunglasses, and greenish/brownish hat, is she not the person that got the first cyber truck off the assembly line where Elon opened the door for her? She sure looks like the same one from Elon's launch video. Also as usual, all your videos are fantastic, keep up the great work!!
Soooo disappointed in the delivery event but mostly in the pricing. I was willing to go ~$65K for the all-wheel drive but $80K is beyond what I can justify for the truck. I'm very envious of those of you who can proceed with the purchase. I've dreamt of owning one for years but I guess it's not meant to be.
Wasn't the original price $39,000? For those who pre-ordered and waited all this time.... Is such bait & switch legal? Or do they get it at the original price?
Yes, he got $100 million plus in interest free deposits... smart on his part but, now I'm bummed out as there wasn't a cybertruck at the end of my rainbow. @@DavidJohnson-tv2nn
I don't dispute that but I made my reservation based on the advertised price. It'd be reasonable to raise the price to adjust for inflation but this is more than that. My point though was just lamenting that it was now out of my reach. If I stumble into some money I'm still getting one!@@danielwynne8547
@@DavidJohnson-tv2nn Fine print likely said "Price subject to change" or similar. That and no actual order was placed. Just a spot in line. Same happened with the F-150 and same is happening with the SilvErado.
Your reservation really means crap unless you want to overpay. The wait will be much shorter for those willing to pony up 100K/80K. Tesla's website promises order today & delivery in 2024. Seems to me they've taken a poll of reservation holders and learned a large percentage of reservation holders won't be buyers at the 100k/80K price point. Tesla is basically, allowing those willing to pay 100K & $80K to jump the line. In 2 to 3 years, once the hype dies down and they've cleared out all of the suckers, the prices will surely drop. Similar to when model 3 came out they were 50K. Now, in many states today, you can get a Model 3 out of inventory for 22K after state & federal incentives. Electric trucks are really cheap to produce compared to conventional diesel trucks with transfer cases, differentials
Model 3s sold for up to 90k in late 2017&2018 actually and that's none inflation adjusted. 😀 Cheapest 1 today is 36k near me in inventory and 2,200,000+produced since late 2017.
@@4literv6 Yes! Model 3 can be had for $36,000 out of inventory. Less -$7,500 federal tax credit, -$5,000 Massachusetts EV rebate & -$1,000 Tesla discount email all reservation holders got last night. = $22,500 for a brand new model 3. Expect the same for Cybertruck.
@@robertthomas9564 insane deal smh just insane for what it is! Here in GA we get nothing but the tax credit and an additional $208 bill for the privilege of driving a vehicle better for the air we ALL breathe. 😀 Ct won't drop until at least late 2025 imo as the ramp smoothes out and serious supposedly kinda maybe allegedly other ev truck's enter decent production run rates. 👍🏻
@robertthomas9564. You're assuming Tesla plans to still produce 250k/yr. What happens if they decide not to? They may be planning on high price, low volume. Use the other batteries for the $25k model that will debut in 2 years
I have been to elementary school Christmas pageants with more professionalism, it was sad to watch, lame and very anti-climactic, especially the cringe child's toy baseball (soft version) Definitely not what I expected or anywhere matching all the hype FROM TESLA. All hat and NO cattle. The best part of the day was the engineers all stationed to answer consumer's questions and the delivery "event" itself was a waste of time.
Yeah! According to Tesla, the stainless steel is corrosion-resistant. Stainless steel vehicles are inherently less safe due to being too rigid to allow for standard crumple zones. When the NHTSA crash safety rating comes out next year, you can bet CT won't have a 5-star rating.(maybe wait and see before you plunk down your $$?) Shortly after 8 years or 150K miles, you should expect an out-of-warranty battery failure. At that point, your $80K truck will be worth $0.(toxic waste disposal charges may even drive the value negative) Also, don't plan on towing any serious loads long distances. You'll be lucky if you get 100 miles on a charge. Better get the $15K extended battery. That way you can tow an impressive 150 miles. Ever stop to think how you're going to pull into a Supercharger slot towing a camper, boat or cargo trailer?
Lighting and camera crew did a lame job. Couldn't see Elon face and everything was so dark and camera drifting sideways where it should stay. Not very planned.
