    Kyle, you have a good quality that is almost unseen in the tesla enthusiast community which is the ability to not buy into the hype. You actually just look at things from a realistic perspective. And the cybertruck is a pretty awesome truck by any normal standards/expectations. It’s only a let down because people somehow believed a vehicle with double the battery of a model Y, 50% larger, brand new manufacturing process and a lot more was somehow gonna cost less than the base model Y.

    Hey Kyle, love the vids, keep’em coming. On this video you were talking about Hertz and how they charge you when returning your rental. As an FYI, as a Hertz Gold Member you just have to bring the car back with 70% charge or better and they will not charge you a fee. That’s true at all Hertz rental places. I’ve rented a number of different electric cars at many different locations over the last couple years and haven’t had any fees added. Hope that helps you…..

    At least Rivian honored reservation pricing. It’s a shame Tesla announced a price, then changed it. We complain about dealer markup and marketplace pricing but here is a manufacturer that announces a teaser price only to grab as many reservations as possible, then readjust the final price according to what they think we will pay. Rivian did better on this.

    • @lanzer22
      @lanzer22 10 місяців тому +1

      There was a huge inflation due to covid. If Rivian followed the same timeline I doubt that they could do the same. But then Tesla has 1M+ reservations which is way more than Rivian to honor as a revenue loss

    • @aussie2uGA
      @aussie2uGA 10 місяців тому

      But whats the point of announcing a price then? To be completely honest, they just need to announce "lock in your spot, price is TBD". Tesla announced specs and pricing. They actually didn't deliver on either.@@lanzer22

    Kyle, did you miss the fact that the front drive unit plaquer says it has an electromechanical locker? I saw that in Twitter by Greggertruck, and my mind was blown. That is a huge deal, puts Cybertruck in the category of only G-Wagen and Unimog (vehicles with front locker as stock equipment across all models). But I have not seen it mentioned anywhere else, I hope it will be true. Then of course, I can not afford this thing. I hope the price comes down a few steps before it comes to Europe (if it ever will).

    Thanks for sharing. Will be interesting to see what kind of insurance cost level this vehicle will set:
    - any scratches in the bodywork will require a specialist (normal body shop can't fix it)
    - any dents in the stainless panels might need complete panel replacement (no spot repair technique works on that hard steel)
    - crashes might crack the casted chassis which will make the repair cost explode
    I guess those who can pay a $80k...$100k cybertruck in cash won't be bothered by $5k or more in annual insurance, but those who finance it (i.e. the majority) won't like the extra on their monthly payments

    • @kens97sto171
      @kens97sto171 9 місяців тому

      But scratches and dents will be more difficult to get in the first place..
      Watch the Haggerty video.. they swung a rubber coated sledge hammer at it... NOTHING.. so a door opening into it.. is not going to dent it.
      If the impact is enough to get deep enough to git that casting, gonna be totalled.. as would any other car.

    There are some new innovations in the truck.
    I saw on the Haggerty video.. it is Steer by wire... 180 lock to lock. 48 volt main power system, and something about the internal comms systems.. maybe Ethernet based.. not sure.
    Hated the design when it came out in 2019... but its is growing on me... kinda like it now.

    There’s a barcode that you scan with the phone and it adds the car to your tesla app. it usually appears on the bottom left section of the screen. Sometimes it takes a bit for it to show up.

    Pricing will fall as first adopters willing to pay a premium price are sopped up and costs fall as production ramps up. Next gen 4680 will increase the range too.

    In Europe we have motorcycle license plates that are more narrow. So they are often used on cars where standard European license plates do not fit. However due to the sharp angles, I don’t think it will be legal in Europe as must cars need a “soft” front to be allowed.

    Tires have LT designation (not P). That’s usually on heavy duty trucks or utility builds. They have a rougher ride but better payload.

      Do you need a truck? Then the CT is currently the best option on the market. If you need a "normal" car a Model 3 or Y or maybe a BMW i4 or maybe something smaller is the better choice.

    Ahah, so that's where the "extra bed length" over other trucks comes from. The slope of the rear seat. You will be lucky to get more than one 6" sheet of plywood in there.
