- Well this has been a highly anticipated video!! For some reason it took more than the usual amount of get up and go to film, but finally it’s here! These are the best ways I’ve found to house Angora rabbits! Enjoy 😉
For behind the cages, make another "slide" but going towards you (where you were standing).
So when you push the manure off the first slide under the cages, it falls onto the second slide.
And then your wheel barrow can be at the end.

New subscriber! Found you today. We have ours inside, each in their own giant doggie cage and we clean their litter boxes twice a week, but often they live in our living room and hop up and down on the couch and spend time with us. We got them when they were just big enough to leave their mom. They were confused about this idea of indoor living and constant cuddles. They go to the vet for nail trims every six weeks and get their bunny treats imported from Canada. It's been two years and they are used to it now but they never did enjoy any of the outfits we bought them, even the special hats and tuxedos made for bunnies you can get online. I have to admit to a twinge of jealousy when I heard you could just get rid of extra fluff and stuff with a flame thrower. I don't know how their fur can get up in the air and float about the whole house if they're pretty much confined to two rooms of the house.

I do like your set up. I like a long cage like a minimum of 36" or 48" that works for me, but anything wider than 24 " or two feet makes it hard to reach them. So unless you have very long arms 30 " is not an easy reach. Something to keep in mind . And as always the weather situation is what is most critical to work from. I keep mine outdoors in summer in a soft shelter . When I had other fiber animals I had to put cage wire around the shelter as well, both to keep in the escapees and any predator out . But I only ever make them 1 cage high . I used to double them but found too many disadvantages. The droppings go to the ground so I like to have them high off the ground similar to yours so noses are not in the trays and can be easily raked . In the winter indoor rabbitry they get better light if only one cage high . And of course for indoors an extractor fan and air intake vent on the opposite perpendicular wall is critical for air quality . I cover mine with a sliding door box so I can control the amount of air extracted since I also heat it in winter and don't want to lose all the heat. The best heater is an .oil filled radiator type electric plug in hater so no danger of fire
For the curtains.
If you can sew, make folds every foot.
Push a dole stick into the fold.
If you put eyelet hooks on each end and run a strong string in those eyelets... you can pull the curtains up, like a blind.
This. And you can also use the knitting row marker rings in a pinch if you have them
Loved the video! We have 6 dwarf bunnys in our home and they are the sweetest. Our weather in Texas I think is to harsh and unpredictable to house our bunnys outside. We love having them inside to love on.
Yes, in harsher climates I would be doing the same thing!! It’s borderline here, but mostly a nice middle ground

A few metal tubes running under the cages and fixed in place by running a wire inside the tube, will fix the floor issue.
The same way a floating floorboard in a house has support beams under it.

Thanks for the video! I'm still in the preparation phase before I get my bunbuns, and would like to see a video on feeding, general health, vaccines/medications, and giving them floor/play time out of the hutch. I'm just thinkng about fiber/pets and not breeding, in my house, so neutered/spayed rabbits- if you can put altered rabbits together. Thanks!
Great comment! And great video ideas! I’ll give those things some thought. I’ve filmed feeding videos before but they never made it all the way to UA-cam. That’ll probably be one of the first ones I tackle on your list. Medications can get a bit controversial and I’m not a vet so I’ll probably stay away from that end.
I would love to see how you clean the wooden cages. How you get all the poo out of the area with the wood.
Oh sure! Actually only one has a wooden bottom and I only keep Sky in that one because he is a clean freak, haha, but I was planning on shooting a cleaning video actually! I’ve been scrubbing down the hutches lately- so good timing for a request!

I did! I wove it on my mini loom. Honestly Lauren - I’ve only just began using patterns. I make up all the things I create- it’s just how my brain works! That’s woven though- so there wouldn’t be a pattern. Do you weave?
I don’t know how to weave but I would like to learn! I am pretty good at knitting so I feel like I could replicate it. Did you use your own angora yarn?
How do you contend with bumble foot? We're talking about raising angoras, and I'm concerned about keeping them on wire all the time.

No problem Cody! It’s a complicated question with many factors- but I believe a leading cause is a low quality or wrong size wire. I use 1/2 inch by 1 inch welded wire, with the 1/2 inch spaces facing up towards the rabbits feet. Having a tile or other type of “rest” for their feet is good too. I have rests in all my cages

2 1/2 x 3 1/2’ no I don’t think so. Why can’t you just fence them in or something. Have you looked into any rabbit behaviorists? I think they would be a lot happier with more space. How long do your rabbits live? A good experiment You can try just to see how your rabbits feel about their wire cage. Is put a place a small piece of carpet or grass mat in the bottom of the cage and see if they venture off it at all. Over the years there hawks will get sore. anyways I guess you’re just raising wool and the rabbits don’t know any different. But you could always put a plastic mesh on the bottom. There are people that have actually looked into how there rabbits feel. It is hard to tell when they do not have much expression I don’t make noise like other animals. People that interact with their rabbits on a regular basis are more aware of how they feel emotionally and physically. But if you’re just raising Waller me to whatever I guess that doesn’t matter as much. I don’t think any of your rabbits are loving life. They don’t run around they don’t play. Do they? Do they play with each other? Mine do. Also my rabbits live inside and they never smell. We don’t rake manure. The only thing that smells about a rabbit is there urine. That is not hard to keep clean. The other thing that can sometimes smell is their scent glands. Those occasionally might need to be cleaned but other than that there should be no smell. Anyways I wish that farmers, breeders and pet owners could get together and learn a little more from each other. I wonder why the dose can’t be together
Only one big problem with these cages. Wire mesh floors hurt the rabbits feet and damages them. You should NEVER keep rabbits in a cage with wire mesh floors as it is NOT GOOD for rabbits feet.
I don’t agree as probably millions of people would agree with me, but to each his own! We all do what we think is best for our animals ❤️
(I know this video is very old, I’m sure your rabbit care has somewhat changed since then and other people have told you some of these things)
It’s not your fault because the information out there is extremely behind but there are some very large problems with this set up.. Not enough space at all. Wire flooring. Outdoors. Again like I said this is not your fault. It’s very clear that you love them and want to spread good information. But almost all of the information out there for rabbits and small animals in general is wrong. Almost all of the products specifically designed for them are wrong! Cages, water bottles, loose bedding (paper, wood chips, etc), food formulas, toys, exercise wheels and balls, all can cause severe physical and mental damage and end prematurely end an animals life. The truth is there is not a single cage on the market large enough for a rabbit or most small animals. Rabbits should ALWAYS have access to at least 20 square feet of space but more is better. You mentioned that they spend sometime outside of the cage which is good, but they still should not live in cages. The only suitable home for a pet rabbit is either an entire room dedicated to them or multiple exercise pens connected together. I’m not sure if you mentioned what kind of climate you live in but it is not safe to keep a pet rabbit outside full time. They should never be exposed to extreme temperatures hot or cold, and a fan is not enough to keep them comfortable. Especially the angoras. This may not apply to you but another concern with keeping them outside is attracting predators. The wire bottoms of the cages should at least be covered with some sort of fabric. I know it is not fun or easy to clean, but it is necessary to keep them comfortable. they cannot live standing and sleeping on metal grating. There are many more issues but the last thing I will say is that you have too many and they are alone. Rabbits should have at least 1 rabbit companion, or a human that can spend a lot of time with them. I have had this many animals before and I was not able to have a personal relationship with all of them. I was spreading my recourses, space, and times far too thin among them and they had to pay the greatest price. I had to feel the guilt of watching them suffer but they had to actually endure the suffering.
Stop posting this rubbish to make people believe for buns stand on wired floor 24/7 is ok! It’s Not!! It hurts their feet. It might makes your job easier but It’s disgusting for them to live on top of their poops and pee.
That's how all meat rabbits live, and it's because the poop passes through and can be used in the garden

I don’t even know what to say. You took the time to write that, as rude as it is, so I guess I should at least say something? Are you educated at all in how to house rabbits? Wire is the cleanest way to keep them, though they have tile rests in their cages, and they have toys, balls 🏀 to roll around and branches. They get taken out of their cages and put in playpens too. I wasn’t trying to be “impressive”. Just to show what has worked for me and my rabbits. I’m constantly trying to improve for their sake though. Please make your own video of your setup and put in the work before criticizing others.
Not rude at all! You are doing something wrong someone has to point out to people so they won’t learn from you. Perhaps try stand on wired floor on your feet all day long see how long you’d last
