    Thank you so much for this video! I am in the process of researching goats and Angora is on top of my list. I am a felter and would love to not only get fibers for myself but to sell it as well.

    Your animals are beautiful and I'm sure they are happy too! They feel how much you love them, even if sheering is a bit uncomfortable for them. As you said it's a must for the sake of their health and wellbeing. People who think it's cruel, don't know too much about fleece animals.

    Hello, my name is Cheryl and my farm name is Mema's Mini Manchas. Well I first want to thank you for this video. I would love to pick your brain if you ever have a chance.
    Anyway I will be getting my very first Angora goats next weekend and I am so very excited. I know there is more to them than the current goats I have now. Well, I live in Tehachapi and the goat people in my area are always being so discouraging when it comes to the goats I raise now and the fact I was thinking of getting Angora goats. I am going to still do them both. But I for sure need to learn more. I was told that there is only a few people in California that do anything with them and you can't make any money with them. Well I found your video and it was so nice to hear all the positive things from both you and your friend. I am going to hit up the local 4H and see if there are any kids that would like to learn along with me on this journey.

    Yeah. You can shear them as often as you want, right? Do the fibers have to be a certain length to be spun into yarn?

    Had about 20 of these on a farm when i was a kid and i loved spending time out in the barn with them. Sadly, the neighbor sprayed his potato crop next door on a windy day and it carried over to our farm and many of the goats became very sick and died.

    Do people milk angora goats? Is their milk just like other goat milk to drink or use for making soap for example? That'd be cool if you could get fiber AND milk from them! 😃

    • @haggly8679

      I’m not a goat farmer but from what I’ve read angora goats wouldn’t make good milk goats. Apparently if they have more than one kid at a time they don’t produce enough milk to feed them all.

      Mohair suits were a like a huge thing in the middle of the last century. (James bond was dressed in a mohair suit). That fabric is like $200/yard.

    what is the diffrence between angora goats and cashmere goats?

    • @FelixTheAnimator
      @FelixTheAnimator 11 місяців тому

      They're actually a subset of the same breed. The quality of the hair varies from individual to individual. Coarser hair = mohair, lucky genetics, finer hair = cashmere.

      @@rock3times Ah I think I understand what you mean. I personally don't have any direct experience with mohair or cashmere so I can't give you a personal opinion but I do know both fibers can be spun and both have their own pros and cons. people in the vegan community spreading misinformation. They are brainwashed with absolutely horrible videos of animals that are super mistreated, and now they imagine every single animal farmer is a monster and treat their animal like this. It's like if you were showing people puppy mills videos and now going around saying everybody that own a dog is a monster and no one should ever own a dog because they all have miserable life. LMAO
