apply lipstick before blush, in order to not overdo the blush. Frownies and Wrinkies work great, even on first application. if you can't sleep in them, just put them on a few hours before you go out, its enough. putting on eye shadow with your ring finger is perfectly acceptable. Lumify eyedrops takes out the red for hours. expensive but worth it and you just need a tiny bit.
Hey LauraRae! Happy Saturday! My favorite eye makeup tip: If you have "allergy eyes," stay away from waterproof eye makeup. Seems counterintuitive, like you'd want something waterproof, but really you just want makeup that's easy to remove at the end of the day. Also, don't do tightlining, waterlining or the frosty smudge around your tear ducts on your allergy days. Try an easier, cleaner look for just one day. I find it necessary for my ocular rosacea, and it actually makes my eyes look younger and softer. I think it's great that you're encouraging your audience to share knowledge! We women of a certain age must stick together! Thanks!
If I don't use waterproof eyeshadow and mascara on my allergy eyes, the eyeliner and shadow is under my eyes or smeared on my lids and looks terrible. Waterproof items solved my problems.
These are some great tips. I have not found a drugstore eye primer that I like so I use my Maybelline age erase concealer. Keeps my eyeshadow on all day without creasing.
In order to get every tiny lash coated down to the root and to tightline I use those tooth flossers. They have tiny bristles and you get lashes you didn't know you had. They are less than $4 for 60 of them, but you can use the same one over and over . Mascara wands are so big these days that this is so helpful. Coat it, use it, wipe it clean. Try it
@@debbiewalker8713 yes!! I had given up on that even with the smallest wands!! It's surprising just how many lashes you have in the corners once you can finally get mascara on them!! Gives an actual false lash look and pressing it against waterline takes care of the liner too!! Works wonderfully
Thanks for some great tips! Cream shadows are great on older lids....I use a lot of them. I think the most important thing for older; I'm 64 is having well hydrated undereyes and lids makes a big difference then appling makeup. I also have a hard time with curling my lashes; I use Rapid Lash serum from Ulta or Costco online. That works well for me. I also spent money trying to find an eyelash curler that worked and found at the Dollar Store (yes!) the one they sell works very well. I stock up on those when I see them. Never used a heated curler so I may think about that.
Good morning! Great tips! To brighten my inner eye, I like to add a matte white eyeshadow around my tear duct and sometimes all over my inner eye area where there is darkness/shadows. I also use the Wet n Wild ultimate brow highlighter pencil on my lower water line - it’s a light pinky tan and really wakes up my eyes. For brightening and cleaning up the brow area, I like the Maybelline Brow Precise Perfecting Highlighter stick in 300 Light.
Great tips. I really enjoy your videos. I have never tried a heated eyelash curler. It looks amazing. The pillow is amazing. I am trying to sleep on my back but always wake up on my side🙄
You've quickly become one of my very favorite beauty UA-camrs. Thank you for all the wonderful content (and loving a good makeup deal as much as I do!).
I have been dying to try the pillow mentioned. I am currently trying to train myself to sleep on my back and it is difficult. Crossing my fingers!!!! Love you
That lash curler is a game changer!🥰 the lashes curl so fast. I gently brush over my brows with my face powder at the end of my makeup routine. This softens the color and blend the color into my brows.
As always, I enjoyed your video so much! I don't look it but I'll be 53 in 2 weeks and I've started to notice little changes in my eyes that will really benefit from your tips! Thanks for sharing 🤗
I really like the Anastasia of Beverly Hills lid primer. As I have aged my lids have darkened. The ABH keeps shadow on all day and covers the darkness on my lids
Thanks so much for the "refresher" for the eyes! Sometimes we forget some of the tips and tricks that may not be in our usual routine. A few "aha" moments while watching!
So many creators I like on UA-cam but you are without a doubt the most relatable one for me! Every video I have watched I have learned and received knowledge from and started using some of my now favorite just have products because of you! Thank you!
Good morning! I’m so happy to have discovered your channel. Each one of these tips were great! I used to love wearing makeup but am almost 56 now and felt lost and not very confident with my make up look due to all the changes from age. I viewed this on my Saturday morning and am now excited to get ready for the day and try all the tips. I know I will feel so good with my face “on” with confidence for the day. Thank you!
Thanks Laura for these great tips! One tip is when using a regular eye lash curler is to apply a quick burst of low heat from a hair dryer, this will help the rubber on the curler be more flexible.
Hi Laura Rae ! I see you used the Maybeline Slim Brow Pencil. I've been using it for years on my non- existent brows. 😆 I haven't found anything better to make my brows look decent. Luckily my bangs camouflage them at bit. Nice beginner video ! ☺️
I got the heated eyelash curler after you talked about it on another video. I love it. My lashes are short so getting them in a traditional curler was very difficult. Now I have curled lashes and build the volume and length with my mascara. As always, a very informative video😊😊

I love that mascara! I will have to try the primer. Great tips! I love the Revlon shadows so much. I oredered the honey one because of you. I did not have that color. It is so pretty.
Hi Laura, I'm looking forward to trying the tips you gave us, I have been avoiding the liquid eyeliner but now I'm going to give it another try after your tip. I was also thinking of that Can-make eyeshadow that you introduced us to that is so thin and super fine it works really well on mature eyes. Oh my goodness that pillow!! I sure would love to try one. I know what you mean about waking up with those wrinkles on the side of your face. They told us not to sit too close to the TV when we were younger but they didn't tell us to sleep on our back LOL Have a blessed weekend!!
Great video. I always enjoy tips to make my eye makeup look better. I layer an eyelash primer, regular mascara, and then a layer of waterproof on top This provides the benefits of a waterproof mascara and also more volume with the regular mascara
Not only do I have problem with wrinkles from sleeping on my side but also numb shoulders and hands. I have been trying to learn so sleep on my back but old habits die hard so I think this pillow would help so much! Thanks for the opportunity to win this pillow you love !
Love these tips.I totally agree about the liquid eyeliner. As I gotten older it’s hard to change the way I’ve done my makeup for years but I am definitely going to give these tips a try. Thanks for the great videos❤️
Hi Laura Rae! I’ve never used a heated eyelash curler. I’ve tried heated my regular curler with my hairdryer and it was just too much effort and so clunky. Can’t wait to try the heated curler!
This is like I don’t know the second and third time I’ve watched your video. I just love it and I love the eyelash curler. I’m going to definitely have to get me one.
Great video - Thanks! I have a "collection" of eye lash curlers that I am not happy with. Maybe it's time to finally get an electric one. I have been nervous about burning the lash or my skin. I guess I will just have to take it slow and careful to begin!
These are great tips and I have learned some of them through the years by reading beauty magazines. I always only use liner halfway on my bottom lid and even out the top lid line which also softens it. Also cream eye shadow has been a lifesaver for me for a quick eye look.
Great tips! I always enjoy your videos and have learned a lot about make up application from you. I also like that you try to keep things budget friendly. Can you please tell me what shade of the ilia liquid shadow you have on your lids? It looks so pretty on you. Wondering if it’s the shade Mythic ?
I am wearing the Ilia primer with the Wet n Wild eyeshadow palette I showed in the video. I have it linked in the description if you would like to take a look.❤️
Funny, I feel the same way about hooded eyes! When I was in High School, some of the most beautiful girls I knew, had them! I was shocked when I started watching beauty videos at an older age and everyone was trying to disguise the hooded eye! Have a great week, Laura!
Love your channel! I like to flick darker eyeshadow with a liner brush on the outer part of my eye; kind of like a wing, then blend to diffuse. It really lifts the eye!
Great tips Laura. I have never found an eye primer that didn’t look dry. I’ve tried a lot. I’ve finally started using the Kosas concealer. It’s not drying , but it doesn’t cover much. I feel like I look like I have eyeshadow on because my lid is darker to the crease line. Guess that’s not a bad thing, but still would love to find a primer I could use. I do prefer the Revlon cream eyeshadow when I wear one. The heated eyelash curler is great. The pillow is the best solution to train yourself to sleep on your back! Never thought it was possible, a real game changer.
Hi I’m 55 ugh. I don’t wear shadows my lids are small but yes liquid liner works for me. I still got thick brows they are good to go and no need anything yet. I just get them shaped and waxed and it’s great. On the look for foundation I’m gonna try catrice. Looks so good on you!
Good morning Laura. You have great sensible tips.....lol not just for beginners. Eyeliner has always been a challenge for me, I will be trying the baby strokes. Have a great week.
I think I will try the heated eye lash curler again. Didn’t have much luck in the past (5 years ago or more) and I value your suggestions. Straight lashes that stick out are such a pain!
I have added lash primer to my routine and feel it really helps. I have been able to forgo curling my lashes. I really like the Essence one but will have to give the Covergirl one a try. Thanks for the tips!
Hiya Laura...cheers for these great eye tips! I've mentioned this before, but it seems to work well for me as a temporary solution for the stinging, watering eyes I seem to get--which can destroy my eye makeup look (whenever I decide to do one). Something that I've found helpful (for myself) for relieving the sting of chemical SPF is this: once I've cleansed (but not over-cleansed to the point of skin dryness), I apply a heavier, more occlusive lotion or cream round the eyes. Let that absorb well, then apply SPF. You get a longer duration of time before the SPF migrates into your eyes. Next time, I'll be trying applying a very fine, light layer of my Laura Mercier translucent powder over the SPF to see if that helps any. Hopefully my eye area won't look overly dry...hope this helps someone! 🕊 P.S. I know there are some eye SPFs specifically formulated for sensitive skin
Hi Laura Rae (btw - I have a cousin and a niece also with the middle name Rae…a favorite in our family!) - thank you for the reminder to make up our eyes first. It is a challenging adjustment. I prefer to even out my skin tone with foundation first because it is such an immediate impact and makes me feel positive from the get go. It also helps guide which eyeshadow shades will work with my complexion. But I sure can mess it up after applying my eye makeup!
Love this so many great tips for beginners every one even that are in our 50s. Been watching you from the start. Live this. Wanted to add having the same thing happening with the eyelid primers and have now also started to use more cream shadows.
Thank you Erinn. I was so surprised when primers I had used for so long stopped looking good on my lids. Cream shadows are amazing and there are so many beautiful shades available.❤️
Love that CG Lash Primer! I will have to try the mascara next. I apply the primer, wait about 30 seconds, then use the heated lash curler. Seems to lock in the curl a bit more!
Laura, while watching this video I got an idea...... when you were putting on that shiney Ilia eyeshadow primer I remember you on the last video dabing the Loreal Lumi glotion on top of your eyeshadow and it looked so pretty. So I just thought...why wouldn't the Lumi glotion look good 'under an eyeshadow ' like a primer. So I tried it and it works beautifully! The glotion dried down very fast and my eyeshadow that I tested with went on smooth as silk and so far no creasing. Give it a try! I love when one product can do double or more duty!
Hi Laura, I'm always so excited to watch your videos... they are so much fun with great suggestions... I have loose skin so I don't have a crease anymore and no lid. I have fine lines so any shadow I apply leaves me with an uneven mess on my upper lid. Anything I can do to smooth out or fill in the fine lines so I can get my eye shadow to go on smooth over the fine lines? I have tried eye shadow primer but that didn't help!!! You would think there would be a product to help with that particular problem... fingers crossed!!! Watched a couple of your dance videos keep on dancing and having fun!!!
I have small hooded deep set eyes, so I try to use lighter colors on my lids, or a mid-tone with a lighter shimmer as a topper. It make my lids a little more visible. No eye liner in my lids at all, because there's no room for even the thinest line, but I do tight line, my top waterline to make my mascara look darker. Don't do that every day, just when there's a special occasion. It really works well.

Thank you for your suggestions
Great tips Laura
Love that CG Lash Primer! I will have to try the mascara next. I apply the primer, wait about 30 seconds, then use the heated lash curler. Seems to lock in the curl a bit more!
Fabulous tip!❤️
Thanks for the tips! I end up with smudges under my eyes more often. I need to try your tip on applying liquid liner!
Hi 👋 Rebecca how are you doing?
Laura, while watching this video I got an idea...... when you were putting on that shiney Ilia eyeshadow primer I remember you on the last video dabing the Loreal Lumi glotion on top of your eyeshadow and it looked so pretty. So I just thought...why wouldn't the Lumi glotion look good 'under an eyeshadow ' like a primer. So I tried it and it works beautifully! The glotion dried down very fast and my eyeshadow that I tested with went on smooth as silk and so far no creasing. Give it a try! I love when one product can do double or more duty!
Great tip! I have the Lumi glotion , am going to try this. Thanks!
Awesome tip Ann! I am going to try that tomorrow!❤️❤️❤️
Greetings Laura! You always show the best products! Doesn't Milani have another face palette too? Love and blessings ❤ 🙏
Wonderful tips.Ty
Simplicity is exactly what I need. Also I’m a belly sleeper. Yeah I know…so bad. Would love to win one of those pillows. 😊
Hi LauraRae, thanks for more great tips. I too have all but lost my eyebrow tail. I thought it was just a me thing. I've never learned how to fix it.
It happens to most women over 50, so you are definitely not alone Tamara…you are amongst friends!❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for all the tips!
I appreciate you!❤️
Great video tips,❤️. Would you do another one with eye primers, shadows, liners etc. again 👍❓
Great helpful advice!! As I get older, I have had to concentrate on my eye more. Not sure about the heated lash curler?
Thanks for all the tips, Laura! I gotta get that heated lash curler! My lashes are so sad! Til next time! 😘
Hi 👋 Cheryl how are you doing?
I have small hooded deep set eyes, so I try to use lighter colors on my lids, or a mid-tone with a lighter shimmer as a topper. It make my lids a little more visible. No eye liner in my lids at all, because there's no room for even the thinest line, but I do tight line, my top waterline to make my mascara look darker. Don't do that every day, just when there's a special occasion. It really works well.
