Love that you do you Risa. I’m 63 and have no intention of letting the world tell me how to dress or wear my hair and makeup. Thank you for the positive vibe.
I’m 60 too! I was a runner until my 50’s. Even had my data 42 and ran with stroller. Sadly, I have severe spinal stenosis, scoliosis & 4 screws in my neck. Walking like Groucho Marx my brother kids. He’s 70 & still running. So having tenitis i can sympathize. My mom had that. I still stay active but it’s difficult ❤l😢 I try to make the best of my day and love my family..,…God Bless you and love your videos;) love how you looked in the black dress 🥰😍
This is the best method for a lift. I've followed this ever since you first demonstrated this, Risa. Wait til you're 74! 😉 You'll be even more thankful. (BK Beauty has a Mother's Day sale right now!)
You are so gorgeous, Risa! And I cannot get over how you do all these close-up shots, WITHOUT A FILTER, and no blurring, and you still look amazing. Most importantly, you are genuine, honest, and have a good heart.
Dear Risa. I am 61 and I live in Slovakia ( former Czechoslovakia). I follow you approx. 3 years and you are clearly the best beauty blogger in the world for ladies of an elegant age. Thank you for the awesome work. Alena
I started wearing a winged eye at age 15 when I started wearing makeup and it's still my go to look (everyday and special occasions) today at 56. I will be buried with a fabulous winged eye looked. Thanks, Risa, as always. You're a master.
I love the rephr 29 brush but unfortunately no matter how careful I am cleaning taking care of them they loose there shape start to fray I’m super jealous rephr sends you them they are amazing there no 23 eye pencil brush my very favourite brush from them
You are great Risa!! I love your comment about being 90 in the nursing home (cuz I feel the same way about shimmer eyeshadow). I watch a lot of makeup creators on UA-cam...and you by far are my favorite, with your classy looks, tips and tricks and your very own beauty. Thank you! -Vicky from SD, California.
Thank you for another helpful video for the hooded eye sisterhood. I was always hesitant to use tape, but seeing how you neutralized the adhesive has encouraged me to try it again. Thanks, Risa.
Hi Risa❣️. I’m with you girl! I’m 66 years young and I love my false eyelashes and my long nails. I will die with them on😆 Do what makes you feel pretty!!! Who cares what others think‼️ we are NOT hurting others when we do things to ourselves to feel and look pretty❤️
Just turned 50 on Monday & these tips are ver valuable to us 50+ gals. I will try this method with my pomade. Thank you Risa. P.S. I love your name. It means laughter in Spanish.
TY for supporting glitter at ALL ages!! You are right - if you luv it, wear it no matter what age you are! And, really, it looks great on EVERY age! Also, you are one of few makeup artists on YT that wear eyeshadow colors other than just brown all the time! You wear purple and blue and green and pink, etc. Luv you Risa!!
I will be right there with you in the nursing home putting on my sparkles and shimmers! Life is too short to be matte 😂 I'm 52 and wing my hooded eyes with the help of a stencil. I couldn't do it otherwise, but with the aid, I can still do a respectable wing ❤
I found your open and honest approach quite refreshing! The technique of using tape will make it much easier to apply eyeshadow without going overboard. This is a game changer for anyone with hooded eyes or even non-hooded eyes as far as technique!
Thank you for this video too! I say “too” because I have your Masterclass for Hooded Eyes” video saved and refer back to it all the time!! I struggle with hooded eyes and crepey eyelids, so I have many of your videos saved for quick reference when needed.
I just love your channel. I’ve been sick for a few months so I haven’t really been into how I look. Thankfully I’m on the mend and I’ll be doing this method. 50 isn’t old!
I like this a lot. Thank you! ❤ As I've gotten older my eyes have become hooded. I lived most of my life with a very open lid and brow. I just recently started using dark eyeshadow to line my eyes... i thought i was being clever 😂😂😂 I did see something on another channel but I don't remember where... and that's too use white eyeliner on your bottom water line. It opens and brightens the eye. I don't go anywhere without doing this step anymore! It does amazing things for my eyes! ❤❤❤ Thank you again for your video! It was very informative!! ❤❤❤
What is a more natural-look shortened version of this GREAT demo. I’m not sure if that is possible…? I too have the hooded eyes now in my late 50’s😱, and I’m dealing with a chronic painful disease with limited mobility. This has certainly affected my self-esteem. THANK YOU so so much for your time 💕 ❤😊
Risa you are so right! Im in my 40s and love glitter, always have. I don't picture myself ever being without a little sparkle and shimmer and i really don't care what people think. Makes me happy. Great video ❤
This seems like such a safe space for people our age im 59 i recently became a makeup artist currently with no clients but i refuse to stop or slow down and i happen to have hooded eyes Thank you for creating this space and the video
Oh this is so excellent! I never thought to use my rephr #03 to smoke out my wing; probably because the handle came off & I had to glue it back together. I'll try it today. Thank you for being here for us !
I love your videos Risa. One of my eyes is more hooded than the other and I can't get them to look right. Have you done a video on that? Do you do them differently, or both the same way? Thanks!
Risa, I can always count on your advise. I'm 65 and I really need some liner to bring my eyes out. My biggest problem is using liner/shadow to do my wing because it doesn't stay on as long as liquid liner. I'm tired of using liquid liner, but I find myself doing it in order for it to stay. I do a tightline also. Is there something that will stay on longer? Thank you for always teaching us.
Oh thank you Risa! I love winged liner but I have a love/hate relationship with that - somedays it just does not work out, but I just tried your technique step by step and wow - I love again! Thank you so much Risa, I appreciate you! I love your comment about being 97 in a nursing home putting on glitter. I had to laugh at that! But that is sweet 😊💕
Ugg, I can completely relate! I highly recommend trying masking tape instead of scotch! Masking tape is far more gentle and easy to tear. I have also always had hooded eyes but had a perfect routine but now at 52... things are getting more difficult (especially w Eyeliner). My eyeliner used to last all day but not anymore. I'm also having issues with my skin getting more dry vs combination. It's like I have to learn what works all over again! Thank you, much love to everyone! ❤️
Love that you do you, girl! You look terrific, and I just love a little shimmer too! But this all gets harder--try doing a wing with hooded eyes at 56, haha! In my 20s, I wouldn't even leave the house without make up! In my 30s, I got married, had a baby, and make up became an 'if I felt like it' thing. In my 40s, I just gave it up, and didn't miss it! Now at 56, I'm into it again thanks to gals like you who are in your 50s and know the struggle is real lol, but who are showing us how to feel glam and pretty again! Thank you so much for getting us! ❤👏🎉
Risa, thank you for your very smart tutorials and your comments on wearing shimmer, glitter, etc. over 40, 50! I am just over 60 and wear both (with very hooded lids)! Matte colors make me look older, but shimmer looks bright and beautiful on me and I’ll never give it up!
New to your channel and now I am going to watch more. I am 67 with a very hooded eye. I am going to go look through all my make up brushes now. Thank you
You are great and i admire you showing the world the real you with no make up on to start . But you are so beautiful anyway that you dont need any make up. Keep showing us ideas, im 75 years old and i still wear eye shadows and it makes me feel better about myself. Thank you You are very kind!
I’m 58 years old and I just tried your technique and I love my eyes now. I just want to thank you so much, I’ve struggled with my make up for my Asian eyes for so long and now I’m so pleased with them.
Yeah; you don't know about the changes until you get there. I'm 60 now, and I'm just starting to struggle with my hair, makeup, skin. I like to follow and get tips from women who are my age; I rarely watch younger makeup or fashion channels now, they are mostly irrelevant. Glad you're 50 now!
I’m in my mid sixties and this was SO helpful! I have a double “crease” in my crease! I can “hide it” with darker shadow but it’s more noticeable to me. Thank you for such a great tip. I’m going to try and wing out my shadow using the tape to keep it reigned in. 🤞🏼🤞🏼that it works for me! ❤
This is awesome! Risa, how would you do this with eyes that are not hooded, but the actual lower lid is heavy. Like big round eyes that kind of stick out. I always have trouble, because the divot on the side of my eye is so deep that it makes it almost impossible to use tape or anything. Thanks! 😊
Loving reading your comments on this video, Risa. Just uplifting to read of those who are over 40 or 50 years old, living their best makeup lives!! I’m not sure how many views/likes your videos usually get, but this video seemed to do well, which makes me feel so glad for you❣️❣️🙌🙌😘😘
Just needed to say your eyeshadow and brows look so beautiful! My favorite shadow and brow look on you ever! And I love your message that there are no age restrictions to makeup!
I had many Aha’ moments watching your hooded tutorial. My hooded eyes have progressively worsened over time!I find the pencil brush & patting placement is SO much easier.Plus I find a powder wing, less stark on my eyes than a gel. So grateful for you sharing these invaluable tips! 🙏🏻x
Thank you Risa! I'm 74 in September and still love make up, but not on my days off! I love the tape idea. I don't have hooded eyes, but my Granddaughter does, she is gorgeous and a whiz at makeup and techniques. This is so much fun!! I followed a make up artist on UA-cam Nikol Johnson,' she suggested eyes first, foundation, concealer last. It was difficult at first, but it was amazing how my eye make up popped when I did add concealer and foundation, powder, etc. I tried something new! I understand she could then erase any mistakes from eye shadow, but it almost felt like the cart before the horse.
👏👏👏👏👏my favorite tip I learned from you Risa so helpful I do it every single day when I do my eyes and like I will die wearing my glitters lol love them. Thanks again Risa for all your tips and tutorials ❤
Love this Risa. The Rephr brushes are a game changer especially for hooded eyes, i have multiples of the 29 and 03, the 23 is even smaller than the 03 so even better for the eyeshadow wing. Using eyeshadow for a wing instead of liquid is the best thing I've ever done. I'm nearly 41 and i started changing things up when i was about 37 and i was starting to struggle with my liquid liner. It's like you don't notice the hood and them suddenly it's there and i love my eyeshadow and i did want to stop doing eyeshadow so you just have to learn to work with the hood.
Thank you Risa! You make it look so easy and it’s just elegant looking on you. I try on my 54 yo hooded eyes and look like the doll off the movie Anabelle.😂😂😂 I am going to practice. I try and get frustrated and say to heck with it.. these hooded lids suck! Then you come in with a tutorial like this and I think “ maybe” this simpleton can achieve this look. Thank you again!
I really applaud you for the way you opened this video with an apology. It once again speaks to your credibility. I do so wish this technique would work for me, but unfortunately my upper hood extends below the level of my lower lashline, and the hood itself is quite puffy (fatty?). I've had to simply accept that a wing just won't work for my eye shape, and it will remain that way unless I get an upper eye bleph.
Thanks for the great advice..u made me feel so much better about my make up , being over 50, I thought I shud nt do my make up like this anymore .. going back to what I love..❤
Totally agree with u… no limit of makeup because of ur age… is what makes u happy n feel good!!! I will be putting shimmer eyeshadow on my eyes at 90+ 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 great video…😊
Thanks! I'm so frustrated with my 54 y/o hooded eyes because they are uneven in their hoodedness and it takes forever to apply makeup. I have stopped purchasing eyeshadow palettes of any kind because I just don't use powdered shadow that often anymore. I like the Victoria Beckham shadow sticks (the ONLY brand of shadow stick that doesn't feel sticky and lasts on my oily lids) for quick, everyday looks, because powder shadows just take forever now. I will try this technique with my powder shadows when I want to dress up, though.
Amazing video with such great close-ups! Thanks so much for the detail and the precision work in describing how to do a winged eyeliner. I have struggled far too long with eyeliner pens and gels, now I can finally figure out how to do my eyeliner and look good in my 60's. You are so gorgeous by the way.
Thank you Risa! I'm 45 (don't roll your eyes please folks lol) and I'm getting wrinkles and I have hooded eyes plus a lazy eye. Between you and Nikki La Rose I've able to find my happy place!!! Appreciate you so much! Also, as a Gen Xer, I have never cared about what people think bahaha!
Very well explained Risa. However, being 76 now I am wearing some eye liner, but just a hint. It's so amazing what a little bit of makeup can do for us!
That Rephr brush is amazing, I have 3 of them. Great tutorial. I have started using the Victoria Beckham Kajal liners with that brush to do a soft wing. This shadow technique is great will try tomorrow.
You are so gorgeous Risa & I just love your detailed tutorials … you are “The Master Artist “ who never fails to mesmerise me, I cannot wait to try this on tomorrow’s makeup application …☺️ ❤️ Thank you ..
I just watched you and subscribed for first time! I feel this is very helpful for me to do my hooded eyes at age 63. I love still wearing makeup which sometimes includes shimmer and always feel lipstick or gloss of any kind is something I do to feel like I’m put together no matter what! I also ordered the 29 & 3 Refr brushes you demonstrated. Thx again for the hints. Now excuse me while I go search for your hooded eye master class tutorial 😏 👁️
Thank you for the tips! 🎉 I don’t have hooded eyes, even at middle age…I have round eyes. I figure I too can use some of the techniques you mentioned, since nobody on the internet seems to have my eye shape. 😂 It appears that applying winged liner to hooded eyes is on par in level of difficulty as elongating the look of round eyes. 😅
Risa, I purchased the Veronica Beard jeans. Wore them today…awesome fit! Thank you again for sharing! It’s so hard finding Jean that are long enough and feel like pjs instead of jeans! Love you girl!
Hi Risa, I was born blind in my left eye, wings are so hard for me because I don’t have depth perception. I can’t use an eyelash curler either. I’ve gotten pretty good at Mascara tho. (Yay). Some of the steps you demonstrate will help me too. Thanks for helping me to look my best!
At 81 Plus i love shimmer and purple/ lavender on my brownish eyes and shimmer is the finishing 12 touch. I want to find a beautiful blue shimmer.😊i have never been able to do a wing on my hooded, fownturned eyes.
Hi Risa love this tip with the Tape it's a long time since I've worn eye shadow now I'll be wearing it all the time like you I have light blue eyes it makes them stand out I'm 72 feel ten years younger thank you for this amazing tip guess what you've got another fan
I love this video, I like the way u did the eye makeup. I have heard of people doing this technique to catch any fallout . My mum also has a magnetic mirror - they r so handy 😊. Thank u for this video, so helpful ❤
Love that you do you Risa. I’m 63 and have no intention of letting the world tell me how to dress or wear my hair and makeup. Thank you for the positive vibe.
Right on!
Completely agree! 👍🏻
Right there with you Lynn! Happy to be 63 and going strong!
Ps, I have hooded eyes 👀 as well.
90+ in a nursing home with glitter eyes and face 🙌 that will be me as well!
Me too girl and loving every minute of the time todo my makeup !!!
Oh...I LOVE THAT!!
😂
This is the best method for a lift. I've followed this ever since you first demonstrated this, Risa. Wait til you're 74! 😉 You'll be even more thankful. (BK Beauty has a Mother's Day sale right now!)
At age 56…my eyelids just seem crepey when I try to do any kind of eyeliner ! This helps A LOT! And the tape is always a “look saver” ! Thanks!

What a lovely thing to say! Thank you so much. ❤️
I started wearing a winged eye at age 15 when I started wearing makeup and it's still my go to look (everyday and special occasions) today at 56. I will be buried with a fabulous winged eye looked. Thanks, Risa, as always. You're a master.
Same!!
You’re awesome… love that❤
I love the rephr 29 brush but unfortunately no matter how careful I am cleaning taking care of them they loose there shape start to fray I’m super jealous rephr sends you them they are amazing there no 23 eye pencil brush my very favourite brush from them
Been “winging it” since I was 15...both figuratively and literally 😜🤣🤣🤣

Awww thank you!
You are so sweet to say that❤️
@tinajof4059 well, you are, and you're welcome 😻
This is such a softer look than using the liquid black liner. Thank you for this amazing tip!
Wow, someone who is apologizes and holds themselves accountable. Girl, respect.
Absolutely
12:48 You are so beautiful love all your tips since my eye lids are more hooded. I agree glitter makes you feel fabulous!
Just turned 50 on Monday & these tips are ver valuable to us 50+ gals. I will try this method with my pomade. Thank you Risa.
P.S. I love your name. It means laughter in Spanish.
Thank you, Risa! I don’t know what I would do without you! Your tutorials are game changing! 🥰

I love your videos Risa. One of my eyes is more hooded than the other and I can't get them to look right. Have you done a video on that? Do you do them differently, or both the same way? Thanks!

Thanks for making me smile about the Anabelle doll. :) I'm sure you are beautiful both inside and out. All the best to you.
Hi Risa. I agree that the Rephr brush's are an absolute essential.
Thanks for the great advice..u made me feel so much better about my make up , being over 50, I thought I shud nt do my make up like this anymore .. going back to what I love..❤
This was extremely helpful. I’ve always had trouble putting makeup on my eyes. This video really helps a lot! Thank you so much. ❤
This is one of my favorite techniques you have shown us ❤❤❤
Thank you Risa!
Gen X rules!! 🤣😊🥰
Very well explained Risa. However, being 76 now I am wearing some eye liner, but just a hint. It's so amazing what a little bit of makeup can do for us!
Great look! Always inspiring! I need to try this tip. I want a baby wing for every day but I’m challenged with straight lines😂.
This is great! I’ve also been using cream shadow first and then locking it in with the powder shadow for longevity!
Great information for hooded eyes, thank you Risa…💜
Great tutorial! Do you apply mascara on your lower lashes? If so which one? I find so many mascaras smudge on my lower lashes. Thank you ❤
Thank you for this tip, most helpful. I am 69 and have those folds. Didn’t think I could do liner anymore. Now I can! TY!!!
Good morning! What do you have on your brows? I love the whole look! Thank you Risa!!!
Just ordered the 2 Rephr brushes as I have hooded eyes too and can’t wait to try them 🎉. Love your techniques👏🏼
Risa, I purchased the Veronica Beard jeans. Wore them today…awesome fit! Thank you again for sharing! It’s so hard finding Jean that are long enough and feel like pjs instead of jeans! Love you girl!
I’m so glad you love them!
At 81 Plus i love shimmer and purple/ lavender on my brownish eyes and shimmer is the finishing 12
touch. I want to find a
beautiful blue shimmer.😊i have never been able to do a wing on my hooded, fownturned eyes.
Hi Risa love this tip with the Tape it's a long time since I've worn eye shadow now I'll be wearing it all the time like you I have light blue eyes it makes them stand out I'm 72 feel ten years younger thank you for this amazing tip guess what you've got another fan
I am 65 and I to wear eyeliner and apply it very similarly to yours. Great tips!
I love this video, I like the way u did the eye makeup. I have heard of people doing this technique to catch any fallout . My mum also has a magnetic mirror - they r so handy 😊. Thank u for this video, so helpful ❤
You have beautiful eyes. The shape, That’s the first thing I notice. Thank you so much for sharing. So appreciated looking forward to next video.
Beautiful eyes and beautiful message! I love the lip combo too! Thank you Risa!
Risa, your base and especially blush looks superb in this video! Mind sharing which blush you used?
I always do my eyeshadow first. And I use eyeshadow shields which helps create a crisp edge and wing, as well as collect any fallout under my eyes.
Thank you Risa, I am definitely going to give this technique a try. I have learned so much from watching your videos!
