They are an interesting mix. Well designed and generally well built but being a budget brand there will be corners cut. I've got a Scram and got through a chain in 4,000 miles. I'm not complaining because I've simply replaced it with a better one. Likewise I replaced items such as the mirrors and bash plate with better quality items. I think you just have to buy with open eyes and accept that you might be spending a bit on aftermarket parts to fettle the bike a bit better.
Freddie Dobbs, Mark Pulling and Old Man & Mr Darcy all absolutely love the RE 350. The Classic seems the best model. Interestingly, my neighbour has £250k worth of bikes in his garage(s) - Harleys, Multistradas, GS', Ninja H2, FJs, KTMs, etc - and the two bikes he's always on are the Fantic Caballero Rally and RE 350. That's a clue there....

Best looking bike yet. Absolute bargain as well. Interesting to note your comments about quality being even better than other 350s, 411s, 650s. Sounds really pleasant. PROPER ! ❤😊
I like the paint scheme, and the styling is bang on. The long gearing would be a real plus around town, where 2nd is where I spend most of my day. I will be watching for the new videos. Keep 'em coming.
I was convinced I was going to buy one of these in November, but in the end I couldn't bring myself to do it when I don't love any of the paint options. The white one was most attractive to me but the big 'PURE' and 'RIDE' decals on the tank are a step too far. I expect they don't mind in India where they're mainly sold, but it does have some weird chastity connotations over here. I'm still hoping they release some new colours this year
I agree, the paintjob is trying too hard to be relevant and fashionable. Hopefully the next iteration will have a more traditional take with pinstriping and a proper badge.
I like what R E have done, three very different bikes but using the same engine and gearbox. The Meteor and the Classic are "gentlemen's" bikes one traditional, one less so, and the Hunter for a younger demographic. Good marketing strategy.
One came into my works car park last Thursday, heard it before l saw it & it sounded good, like a motorbike. First one l've seen on the road, l was impressed with it & the owner couldn't speak more highly of his experience with it.
I placed an order yesterday for this bike in the grey and black. Can't wait to get it in 4 weeks. Look forward to your review after 2 weeks of running it. It looks a great bike and for the money it looks spot on from your initial test ride. Cheers for posting this short vid!
Thanks for this good review Sir. I bought the Classic 350 here in Thailand and the price was right at $4000. The Hunter is a great knock around bike but I chose the Classic because I love the chrome spoke wheels and exhaust with chrome touches on the engine. The Classic is a bit louder than the Hunter, and it is the most classic looking of RE bikes.........Sal : )

Looking forward to the in depth review on this one. As you say, Andy, they do look really good. At 6ft 1in and 97kg, it might be a bit small for me, so, let’s see what you think on that point. But, you’ve hit the nail on the head - it’s about what bikes make you feel, not the ‘top trumps’ of the spec sheet. 👍
Great review totally agree with everything! I've had mine a month and it puts a smile on my face every time I get on it, for the money it is a brilliant bike.
Hiya. I've got my DAC later this year and I'm hoping to get a Classic 350 or the Meteor. This one looks great too though, and I expect performance will obviously be very similar. It's still so amusing to me to see you going along 'my roads' - through Kingshill and down the hill towards Gt Mis then along Rignall Rd towards Chequers, I know them all so well as I'm in Holmer Green. I'll look out for your full review. Cheers.
Took ages trying to pause you telling me your not an expert 😮 I am not expecting you knee down pulling wheelies but your quite expert at informing me and keeping me interested on the bike you jump on.Job done 👍
Thanks Mr. Flyer. Idn whether this bike is particularly lovely or that the "retro style" is starting to get into my head lol. I have a sneaking suspicion that these (type) of machines are waiting for many of us at the tail end of our biking life, if not sooner. Congratulations to RE and wishing them continued success in the future. :>)
Nice review TMF. I saw a new one of these the other day & it looked nice although on closer inspection I was uncertain about how the finish would hold up.
Looks like a motorcycle should look. Sounds good as well. Glad the quality has improved. They certainly had room for leaps and bounds of improvement. It will be interesting if that carries on through the rest of the models. centerstand, tubless tires, horn, oil change, chain adjusters, hardware battery tool kit, controls, steering, swingarm bearings, things I'm interested in
Lovely looking bike RE are a proper competitor in the market now. Smaller capacity bikes can be a lot fun to ride . A great second bike for commuting come on RE just another 10-15 hp and it would be perfect. Cheers mate love the variation of reviews and you are right it's all about how they make you feel .
Glad I found your channel and I really enjoy your style, very watchable. I`m a bit late to the party (about two months in) Long may it continue. Just wanted to say...
Nice little bike. Good to see a review of a small engined thumper within it’s context too. Nothing more frustrating than reviewers talking about how it’s not as fast as the 650 etc etc. Really growing on me the Enfields, just need them to make a bigger one! Would be a good bike for Mrs Flyer to potter about in alongside your 650.
Another great looking bike from RE, you can see they improve build quality with each new model. In my eyes they make proper looking motorbikes and the smaller engine bikes are full sized physically and I really like that. Laughed at the Rev limiter test, read the manual for speeds in gears, no, just bounce it off the limiter, this is true public service 😊😊
Morning Andy, nice review of a bike I’m very interested in and I’m eagerly awaiting the full review. Interestingly I passed my car test in a Hillman Hunter some 43 years ago 😁. Maybe the person who named the bike had an aversion to vowels and they’ll remake the other models as the Mtr and the Clssc😁.
@@TheMissendenFlyer The Meteor name is just a continuation. Back in the '50's/early 60's Royal Enfield had the 500 cc Meteor Minor and the 700 cc Super Meteor, both twins.
I visited my local RE dealer recently and was astonished at the build quality. These new 350s feels premium compared to other bikes in the same price bracket and will be picking up a classic 350 very soon.
Very nearly bought one of these in this colour. Looks amazing and so cheap. Unfortunately, I wanted the versatility of a larger capacity bike and ended up with a Triumph t120 which I love
Such a great looking little bike Royal Enfield are doing a fantastic job at the moment hopefully they will keep getting better and better i really like what they are doing as a brand.
Royal Enfield are really hitting the mark with their bikes. Especially in these cash strapped times. I see a lot of the old Brit bike boys out on the 350s, as they are light and easy to start, thus extending their riding careers. Conversely I also see new riders on them as they are cheap and easy to ride and hone skills on.
Looks like an excellent commuter bike to me. Not sure I'd want one to replace a Speed Twin for sunday afternoon country road blasts, but commuting around town roads I'm guessing it could be really good, sip fuel, and be nice and cheap to run.
Nice going Andy. Nice looking basic bike, perhaps lacking a bit in every department; however, if you have a restricted budget, may be a choice and if you have an unrestricted budget, it can be a second bike. P.s. the jacket looks very nice, fitting to the retro look. Greetings from Berlin,Jim
My wife bought the Hunter as her secondary bike and had a 1000KM on it the only issue she had conplaint the rear shock are too stiff eventhough the preload setting to the softest. She is 5' 5" and 52Kgs.
Certainly looks and sounds like a bike I would seriously have a look at. Looking to downsize from my Triumph Tiger 😢 due to arthritis. Looking forward to seeing more on it.
It’s a lovely looking, classically designed modern motorcycle. It is very easy to compare it with a bike like a Bonneville. It only really loses out in total performance and bling. In every other department (price, weight, usability, cost of ownership) it’s a winner.
I’ve been waiting on you to review this machine. Possible mini speed twin ?? It might be responsible for selling my Honda mini bikes. Pending your up coming reviews. Great work. 👍
Dear Andy Avid viewer but should you be revving a brand new Hunter to the limiter if it has not been run in. Meteor 350 has very strict rev limits until certain mileages have been achieved. I wonder if the Hunter should has the same running in strategy? Often on the small 350 cc motors you can hear the piston slap on reviews where they have not been run in correctly. I have watched other Meteor 350 reviews and there is no piston slap and I assume that they have been run in correctly? Have you noticed any piston slap on these 350's at all?
that's not a brand new bike.... its got the original type speedo with no 10,30,50,70 indications.... plus its a 72 plate.... thats probably one of the early press fleet bikes that's been thrashed to within a inch of its life since day 1
I thought my local roads were in a state but then I saw yours. Shocking how bad they've become across the country. Can I ask for you to look at how this holds up on longer rides on faster roads? I'm interested in this though I don't do much if any city riding where I imagine this would be perfect. I have to travel on some boring A roads and dual carriageways for a while to get to the good roads so it would be good to know how I'll be feeling when I get there..
I looked at the Hunter and the Classic but in the end bought the Benelli Imperial 400. The RE's are excellent but i just preferred the looks of the Benelli and its got a bit more cruising speed , if speed is the right word :))))
Great show as always, thanks a lot. I think the name HNTR 350 is a reply to the Honda H'NESS 350 which came out only weeks before the RE. Sadly only on Asian markets. So I think the HNTR is a great commuter, probably a better one than these toylike Hondas (Dax, Monkey, Grom).
Been waiting for this!……been down to our local Royal Enfield dealership, and they still haven’t got a Hunter to test ride 🤷🏼♂️. You got the best colour scheme too Andy.
I was much intrigued when I first saw RE were producing this bike. A foray into an era of motorcycling a bit beyond the brand name and definitely into the territory of the Japanese era classics. Brave move indeed and I suppose they should be applauded for it. After all, more choice can only be a good thing. On the other hand. It does tend to show up the basic limitations of what is ostensibly an outdated design. The inescapable fact is that, although the bike is fine for a gentle trundle about, it soon becomes annoying when you get stuck in traffic with little or no hope of overtaking a pensioner in a Honda Jazz. How do I know? Because, until recently I owned a Classic 350. Nothing wrong with the bike in itself, well made and very pleasant to ride, just a little frustrating. As such I would strongly suggest any prospective purchasers take that into consideration. Just my unsolicited opinion. PS. for the avoidance of doubt. I'm no boy racer but very nearly a pensioner myself. (though the way the government keep moving to goal posts, I may never become one)🤐
I started riding on a 250 and certainly I rarely passed anyone, but then I sure didn’t need to….and I rode that bike everywhere…13000 miles before I upgraded. I could take this one and have tons of fun with it.
I like the “Small print”, made me giggle. Nice first impression video, look forward to the next. I am still awaiting my chance to throw a leg over the Hunter. Hopefully in May ! As both an Interceptor and Classic 350 owner, it will be nice to compare. I don’t know whether you just had a bad Interceptor, but my 2020 model is brilliant in the fit and finish department, and has never let me down. Cheers
My pausing skills are indeed impressive :P This review came up just at the right time with the rumoured honda gb350 coming to australia . Looking for a second bike that has a little more to it than a 250 for doing some of the little trips I use my main bike for. Amped for the longer spec video.
Coincidently, I've just bought an Insta360 X3 camera with the motorcycle bundle (1:50), as well. I'm not taking any chances, I've fitted the lens guards, and will be using a tether with the metal utility frame, it's an expensive bit of kit and I don't want to see it go bouncing down the road! First impressions, it's top quality, and I'm very impressed with it. Now, I've just got to work out how to use the software properly. 👍
@@TheMissendenFlyer It's excellent, I've got my nieces wedding to go to, so I'll take it along. I'll use the Electric Surge effect on the kids, and turn them on superheroes, they'll love it!
Hi Andy. Another good review. It's not a bike I'd personally consider, but I still like to watch your reviews as they're informative. As for the ride ..did you wear the cloak of invisibility that day, or did you just manage to encounter drivers that were out to get 'ya? It's not that often your vids show people pulling out in front of you. Anyway, good vid. Ride Safe. G
It's a cracking bike. If you're looking for a retro bike for the style and to enjoy a ride out without tearing up the tarmac then this takes a bit of beating. I don't know why you'd want to spend more than twice the cost of the RE Hntr to buy a Triumph Speed Twin 900 which also only has a 5 speed gearbox. The RE also has a good variety of colour schemes to choose from. Look forward to your full review. Cheers.
Hi Andy great review , it’s a looker ,for the money it’s a steal , it will appeal to new rider and older riders and it will hold its value , , I once had a friend older than me , who said , Jim what age do you think I’ll have to be to start looking in a greenwood’s shop window and start like the clothes (clothes for the older gentlemen )that made us think yeah at some point you actually must start to like the clothes !! How does it happen , same with bikes , buying the fastest , most powerful, top brands , doesn’t feel as satisfying as it used to , this week I started my 23 year old jialing trailblazer 125 , not used for 6 year , started 3rd kick and rode 40 miles that nite , simple ,easy , fun , it was one of the first Chinese bikes to make it over here , think Honda xl 125 , it’s had zero maintenance , I’ve changed the oil once , India and Chinese are going to take over the small to middle weight market 🏍🏍👍👍
@@TheMissendenFlyer The spectacular GS drop? Yes. I did an off-road training course last weekend. So useful. Amazing how my confidence has increased. You should try one? Be a great couple of clips for the channel. My course was GS based but you could bring your own bike, any make or model, as long as it had off-road tyres and was a legal road bike. Can’t recommended it enough.
Any plans to test the two-up riding capabilities for the Hunter? My wife and I are looking to replace my retro scooter for our putting around town toy and this looks like a great upgrade. Our LBS is getting the first shipment in about four weeks and we're eager to see it. Also, at least in the US, you can spec LED lights all around I believe, but that also explains the low entry price ;)
Very interesting to see. I must admit I have been quietly hovering on the edges of buying a RE. What's caused me to pause, has been the rather unrefined build quality. It sounds Like I might need to take another look!
Wanted to get this to replace my 150cc scooter for city use. Love the looks and sound, but the acceleration was awful even given it is only 350 (less than the scooter) and the mirrors very viby. So sadly it was a no for me, though I keep looking as definitely more street cred than the scooter
Love to add one to the stable. The price and size make it very doable and my whopping 4.5 mile ride to and from work this would be perfect for plus the myriad back roads here in the sticks of Ct. like that color too. Would slot in nicely next to my 68 cb350 also blue and white. A lovely couple
I like it: simple and east to ride. Great for general riding and as a commuter. Let's face it, a vast segment of riding is just around town and a lot of people don't need larger bikes.

Yes Jason. I was thinking Cheshire East was bad.
Stay tuned for my more in depth review soon!
I was just about ready to buy a scram, but these are in the states now at a ridiculously low price, and now I’m torn.
Been waiting for this!……been down to our local Royal Enfield dealership, and they still haven’t got a Hunter to test ride 🤷🏼♂️. You got the best colour scheme too Andy.
Yes looks good doesn’t it….
Nope! Red/black is tops 😊
Another great video! Always Informative. I might see you out on the road as I live local, watch out for a guy nodding on a red Interceptor 👍
Will do!
I like the “first impression” format. The specs of the motor/brakes/etc don’t matter as much (to me) as “how she goes” and “how she feels.”
Agreed - could probably get these down to under a minute on that basis!
Yes they’re not fast bikes by any means…I’m pretty sure they could have a Jazz though….
I started riding on a 250 and certainly I rarely passed anyone, but then I sure didn’t need to….and I rode that bike everywhere…13000 miles before I upgraded. I could take this one and have tons of fun with it.
That's my reservation, it feels very nice on a short test ride, but will it become a burden after a year or two? Would be an expensive mistake to make
Cracking commuter machine. Great looker adequate performance reliable and cheap.
R.E. fantastic and logical choice 👍
Ariel Red Hunter motorcycle too, somewhere back in the thirties. Giving my age away lol.
Great looking royal Enfield 👍
Lik e the vid and I really like the helmet cam, some vids on my iPad don’t look as sharp, this looks great.😎🇨🇦
Thank you
I would love to see a proper review of the RE Conti GT, it is a motorcycle that would fit in my lifestyle, Cheers Mate!
sounds like a canal boat at idle 😂 Big fan of it though
I like the “Small print”, made me giggle. Nice first impression video, look forward to the next. I am still awaiting my chance to throw a leg over the Hunter. Hopefully in May ! As both an Interceptor and Classic 350 owner, it will be nice to compare. I don’t know whether you just had a bad Interceptor, but my 2020 model is brilliant in the fit and finish department, and has never let me down. Cheers
Nowt wrong with my Interceptor either - just that these 350s are a step up (at least the ones I’ve seen!)
@@TheMissendenFlyer you could be right. Can’t fault either of mine, especially when compared to some of the mainstream offerings.
I think it's a nice little bimble bike Andy. I was surprised when I sat on one just how light it felt
Yes they are very easy to live with.
My pausing skills are indeed impressive :P This review came up just at the right time with the rumoured honda gb350 coming to australia . Looking for a second bike that has a little more to it than a 250 for doing some of the little trips I use my main bike for. Amped for the longer spec video.
Stay tuned!
Yes it’s good isn’t it…
@@TheMissendenFlyer It's excellent, I've got my nieces wedding to go to, so I'll take it along. I'll use the Electric Surge effect on the kids, and turn them on superheroes, they'll love it!
I bought my Scram just before the Hunter was released. I definitely would have considered this if it had been available.
Love the look of that bike.
Ride Safe.
G
Happens all the time sadly!
saw and rode one at last, very nice it fills working, which is good, certainly revs well, which i did,
It's a cracking bike. Cheers.
My speed twin I’m sure has 6 gears….
@@TheMissendenFlyer Speed 900 is the new name for the Street Twin.
Another Enfield ‘classic’ 🫢
Nice colour scheme 👌
Great review. So reminds of a mini Triumph. I wonder if the new Baja/Triumph singles will look this pretty?
I hope (and expect) so!
I would expect Triumph to make a similar bike that is better in every single way, but probably £2000 more expensive
The Ariel Red Hunter was good workhorse of a bike in its day. Maybe the name is a nod to that old classic.
I love this and that colour scheme is 🤩. I wonder if you could upgrade the old lights to LED style by just changing the bulb ?
If only it were that simple!
RE just make me smile!!
Desperately need another clock up front to settle my ocd . Not keen on the big logo . Good work bike by the sounds .
Down and Dirty! I thought you were going to take her off-road! Nice bike and a great sound.
Did you see my last attempt at off road?
Not insured for two up alas….
Offset clock is slightly annoying. Nice, cheap, short distance town bike. Wish Royal Enfield did a 1200 cruiser, now that would be fun.
Oh man, if they would double that up and make a HNTR700, I would absolutely have to have it
You made a good job of missing all of the very large potholes Andy!
I’m glad you think that!
Very interesting to see. I must admit I have been quietly hovering on the edges of buying a RE. What's caused me to pause, has been the rather unrefined build quality. It sounds Like I might need to take another look!
These 350s are good!
Wanted to get this to replace my 150cc scooter for city use. Love the looks and sound, but the acceleration was awful even given it is only 350 (less than the scooter) and the mirrors very viby. So sadly it was a no for me, though I keep looking as definitely more street cred than the scooter
a very nice looking bike andy
Love to add one to the stable. The price and size make it very doable and my whopping 4.5 mile ride to and from work this would be perfect for plus the myriad back roads here in the sticks of Ct. like that color too. Would slot in nicely next to my 68 cb350 also blue and white. A lovely couple
I like it: simple and east to ride. Great for general riding and as a commuter. Let's face it, a vast segment of riding is just around town and a lot of people don't need larger bikes.
100% agreed
I have a 45 mile commute on A- roads and over national park roads. Just wasn't enough power to feel safe enough for me. Shame, I love this bike
Perfect for Mrs Flyer. Nice bike.
I like the look. Very street twin looking. How does it compare to the scram?
Way better build quality and a better ride….
