Thank you Sumaiya, very sweet of you, glad you liked the video, make sure you do watch some of my others as there is some great fishy recipes on my channel,i think you will like them, thanks again and keep watching, all the best to you.Scott
Another 10 out of 10. Every Saturday as a kid, my dad would take me to his wood shop and grandma would make sardine sandwiches for lunch. Thanks for the memories!
Last time I had Sardines was in Portugal and they were amazing. Just gutted (head on), brushed with a little oil and slapped on a BBQ, served with some boiled potatoes.
And my mouth is absolutely salivating as you took that first mouthful !!! Bought some fresh sardines in the reduced section of Tescos tonight. I've always known they were tasty, but giving them a little love and attention makes them into the King/Queen of the ocean. Just gorgeous . But alas, and hey. I open the bag and they are not sardines but spratts......durgh! I was shopping in a hurry and just grabbed some stuff outta the reduced section thinking I had some tasty wee fish. I think I still have tasty, but now need to look elsewhere for something other than deep fried.
Gosh, this recipe takes me right back to my holiday in Portugal, two years ago......what a great little fish this is. I'm gonne do this recipe this thursday, looks absolutely delicious!!
Mmmm.. Yum Yum! I shallow fried the sardines and then threw in the bread slices in the left over juices. Had to improvise a bit as I did not have capers, anchovies and parsley so used coriander instead, used some anchovy based fish sauce in the sauce, added some yogurt. While serving I kept Sweet Chilli sauce on the side, just a little touch of this if you want to try. Great experience, it came out very good, a bit rich though due to frying. Thanks for sharing.
I love Coley,a much underrated fish, but personally i rate them up there with cod,and they are half the price. Theres tons of them in the seas round the UK,a great eating fish,as is whiting, but they tend to be small, and need eating as fresh as possible, cheers Arc.
This is super easy and super tasty. I have never prepared fresh sardines before, very simple to do after watching this film. I shall certainly make this again. We enjoyed it with our Kimchi. Awesome! Thank you for a great tutorial
Thanks Scott, trio setup clean and honest. This is your recipe for success. Congratulations on a channel that exists because it sustains the basic desire to KNOW. It's simple it's transparent it's pure honesty. Cheers
drools. sardines are the best fish out there when it comes to nutrition(protein+omega fats) and they also have very low mercury levels because theyre almost at the bottom of the food chain. mmmmm sardines
Thank you for sharing your knowledge Scott, just love your videos. Forgive my last, just something my sister said when my father served the sublime. Food doesn't have to cost a lot to taste divine. Thank you for teaching the housewife how to do her stuff. With love Fiona. xxxx
Thanks Scott. I liked your method on removing the bones whole. It was so easy (as my Husband did that) but we had fun putting it all together. I made your Remoulade sauce AMAZING, but I didn't have any anchovies, it still tasted sensational. So we had Cornish Sardines on toast for dinner tonight. I am full to the brim, or should I say sardines!
Recently found your channel and subbed here in the USA. Fantastic videos and recipes! I love the simplicity of your cooking and butchering videos! It's 3am here and now I'm hungry for sardines! :Keep up the great work sir!! And thank you for sharing your knowledge! Cheers!
The mouth is watering just watching this being prepared... Despite living on a seaside town, my family only ever bought frozen breaded fillets. I want to start cooking with fresh fish. You make it look so simple to prepare, I wonder if it really is.
Scott tried that tip, where you lightly floured some cod and dipped in egg. It worked great, the Alaskan whitefish we had stayed together and it really didn't taste much like egg, but gave it a great flavor. Another genius video!
That looks totally awesome. Here in the southwest of the US. Started bringing my live squid bait home in the live-well to eat for dinner some years ago. Will be bringing home the live dines on the next fishing trip. (though bluefin tuna are going off right now so this dish might have to wait....) Cheers.
This sort of thing should be taught in schools. Far more useful than most of the stuff children learn these days.
