Read through a lot of the comments. Bottom line is the dentists don't give patients the proper instructions. For all the dentists out there that think they are too busy: Shame on you. Do your job. This Dr. made a great video that helped a lot of people who obviously went to UA-cam looking for help.

I think just with the super busy schedule of everyone in office makes it difficult for a dentist to take the time to go through everything in detail but they should all at least be giving you written instructions and I love this doctor’s idea here of a nice long video that he probably just refers his patients to.

Having just literally had a tooth taken out this goes way beyond what my dentist told me! Time to eat some cold pasta. When he said ''don't use a waterpik for 3 months'' I said, out loud to the screen ''3 months?!' and then he followed it with ''yep, 3 months''. Hilarious. 2 weeks on just barely warm food is going to be really tricky. Thanks for posting, best vid on this subject I've seen yet!

Numbed me again, had me drive to the oral surgeon across town, and in about 3 seconds and a couple whizzes of a drill, done...easy peezy lol. When I had my wisdom teeth out they were under the gum and impacted. I had no pain yet. This was over 30 years ago but I remember they gave me 3 IV drugs, one was an anti inflammatory, one was for pain, another was the anesthesia. It was painless. I was just really tired for a little over 24 hours and slept most of the time. They gave me Percocet but I didn’t need any of it. After a few days all was normal- I could eat and drink anything no problem. Now, having a molar out soon that I’ve had all my life- I guess the healing will be different

I had been taking turmeric capsules for more than a week before (including the night before) the tooth extraction+bone grafting and I had No pain after the surgery, No swelling, and it healed very nicely!
    (for the ladies)
I continued taking turmeric, and my period caught me by surprise, whereas usually I get cramps as a warning sign that it's starting. I usually am rendered useless for at least 2 days during that time, but this time it was painless the whole time, with just a hint of cramps 😆
Turmeric is anti-inflammatory, the capsules include pepper, which helps your body absorb the turmeric 😉

This video answered all the questions I've been googling all day since realizing I have a dry socket. My dentist didn't give me any post extraction care instructions. I think he forgot. Lol.
Now I realize that I shouldn't have gone to work (waitress) 3 hours after an extraction. Apparently, never having any issues with my wisdom teeth extractions and 2 other extractions with no issues does not mean that I'll never have b issues with every tooth. 😒I also now know people aren't bsing about how bad the socket hurts! This has been painful enough that I think it got me to quit smoking.

I just had an impacted bottom right wisdom tooth removed and I don’t have any swelling on my face. My anesthesia just wore off, so my face is no longer numb. The numbness lasted 4-5hrs after surgery. My lips were a little swollen but not my face, but my face was actually swollen two days before surgery because I had pus coming out of my gum area around my tooth. Surgery lasted around30-45minutes. Didn’t wanted to take any antibiotics because my stomach is sensitive and told the doctor and the nurse told me to just make sure to take probiotics with the antibiotics and to even drink the activia probiotic smoothies for an extra boost for my gut health. I’m actually really happy that she was caring enough to tell me how antibiotics also hurt her stomach as well and how she kept telling me over and over to take lots of probiotics with the antibiotics. So I will be drinking my probiotic smoothies, jello, rice pudding and ice cream and will be adding bone broth collagen powder to my probiotic smoothies as another extra boost for my gut health. Wouldn’t want to get a leaky gut or something.

@@K.A.T_klimtsmuse So my journey has been 9months. It's been long, it's been hard, it's been up and down..BUT the day is here and I will have my implants TOMORROW!
So I had my three front teeth removed with bone grafting. That took three months to heal, then I had the implants placed. Then I had to wait for three more months for that surgery to heal. Finally this past March I had the ok from my periodontist that I am ready for my teeth. But the reason it took so long was it took three weeks for my teeth to actually get made. The other thing that has been the most annoying is wearing a denture for this entire time.
But I would do this process all over again to have a functional mouth.
It was difficult but you can do it ! The end result is all I could think about to help push me through the hard moments.

@@K.A.T_klimtsmuse The Implant surgery is a breeze compared to the removal. The removal is brutal and bloody, and painful lol but that goes away in the first few days.
Honestly how I lost my teeth was worse compared to all these surgeries. Like I said I would do it all over again in order to restore my smile.
Good luck to you and I promise it goes by quick, just remember at the end of all of it... You get brand new teeth !

@@K.A.T_klimtsmuse Thank you, it's funny when people say this because.. I just have to do it you know ? But I guess I have been pretty brave lol unfortunately my crowns weren't the right shade and I'm still on my flipper/denture. It's so annoying but I'd rather the crowns be perfect!
So the entire thing took 9 months from extraction/bone grafting to implant surgery to healing then to where I am now which is ready for the crowns/teeth.
I am 29, so my age could have had a factor in why my healing went quickly. Everyone is different and when this first happened my dentist said this whole process could take a year or even longer! Thankfully I had an amazing periodontist. He took care of the extraction/bone grafting and implant surgery. Since my case was so special I needed an expert who could make sure everything was done perfect since it's my three upper front teeth.
My mother in law just had her back molar implants done and it took her two years because it was in the middle of Covid and she had to have her implant posts redone! But she has her crowns now and can comfortably eat normally again!
I know the extraction part is scary but your mouth does heal quickly so the first few days are gonna suck. But after that, every day gets better! And the implant surgery is a breeze compared to the extraction! WAY less blood 🫣
