I was in primary school in those days - i cried even as a young boy, the injustice, expectation dashed, hope gone and our country suffers

Albeit, ironically under the auspices of a "democratic" incumbent.

There is a fine line between courage and foolhardy. My father warned him not to make that speech, but he never listened.

      Seriously?
I thought everyone cheered him on. Good to know that some people stood against it. Thank you for watching 😍

@HispleMedia We were avid supporters. However, we believed his approach to making that speech was wrong. From my brief encounter with him during one of SDP meeting at my father's apartment at the Hilton he seemed like a really nice fela; he had time for me despite my young age at the time. Baba was senate majority leader and his close friend. So close in fact that he was Chairman at my big brother's wedding. Not withstanding, he needed more international support before making such a cantankerous speech. Sometimes you have to live to fight another day. On the battle field you don't charge at your enemy when the odds are stacked against you, you bide your time and wait for your opportunity to strike.

Abiola would have not gone in his life so far, if he would have listened to people advising to stop his claim of rightful presidency. He was a tough but fair and sensitive businessman, ok. But, once he concluded the bitter faith of the Nigerians under the Sanni Abacha Regime, he was was convonced to do what he was supposed to do by the allmighty. it was his way to suceed or making himself and the oponent to loose , which in fact happend. I remember Abiola, as a very authentic personality who guided Nigeria into best and supperior road to a modern state. He loved the miltary and was concerned on poor living conditions on military but also general country fellow man. I am proud to have met him personally which impression will last foreever..

The fact that another Yoruba man accepted to stand in for the interim government speaks a lot. That annulment is a tribal thing from some greedy Yoruba leaders

Nigeria is more of a crime scene than a sane place... However, abiola wine and dine with them and got their big stick in the end. When you support evil, it might come back to haunt you. God help Nigeria...

He should have dug to find out who Abacha was before making that speech.
As a military officer, Abacha would never have accepted those conditions.
    Well, that's history.

He talked too much in his speech that got him into trouble, and then the part where he said "power is not given but taken" ....that's completely unnecessary in my opinion.

He died a hero no doubt and not a coward like some others. Upon the announcement of Abacha death, i ran about 3km to go and celebrate it. It was jubilation gallore in Lagos State. Abacha regime was a terror REGIME marred by assassination and disappearance of Abacha's critics and purported Enemies masterminded by Hamzat Al-Mustapha. The killer himself

Civilian governments, partly led by former military men, but mostly civilians have been worse.

Didn’t do the man any justice! How did he die? What lead to his death? When and where was he buried? How was he arrested? Was he trialed in a court of law or was he just sent to prison?
What caused his sudden death upon release?

All these questions are answered in some of our videos on this channel. Kindly check our channel page and look for Abiola videos. Meanwhile, he was never released. He died on the day he was supposed to be released allegedly. Thank you for watching ❤️❤️

The thief got his comeuppance. Case closed....He dinned and laid in bed with the idiots then turned around to admonish them. That is history for us all. If you live by the sword, you die by the sword.

Well, his name was mentioned as sponsor of some of the coups that happened in the country. Probably, the military knew him well and safe themselves. However, it was a wrong move by the military hyrachy at the time. Thanks for watching.. 💙❤️
