Putting the gravel in the back without covering them the bags will rot. I would suggest you take one bag with you to your home after each visit to your plot.

I can understand them not wanting difficult to remove gravel in those plots but really like that you took it so well, so congeniality. In a time when people feel so free to have fits of anger and act out over every perceived injustice or slight, I admire the ones who are still mature enough to take these things in their stride.

No matter where you grow on an allotment cite, there's rules and regulations. As for complaints, i think there are better ways of making a point. Like maybe who ever complained, could have come face to face with you and had a friendly word. Giving advice. Instead of making a complaint. Some people could get very upset about that. Im Glad you Sarah, just took it on board and didn't let it bother you. Thank goodness you didn't put too much down. Stick the bags on ebay. I'm sure someone will snap them up. Collection only. Sarah You could use the gravel to fill 1 liter pop and milk bottles and use as weights to keep insect netting down on the corners or weed suppressant covers down during winter 👍
You could set multi layered weed membrane to protect the ground behind the greenhouse/poly tunnel, then it would be easier to lift the gravel if it it was not needed. Nice job painting your friends shed
Lucky you that you can use a hose pipe on your site , on the site im on we are not allowed hosepipes only watering cans . Your friends shed looks good by the way .
My allotment is full of stones because it was used as a flint mine before being turned into allotments. We can use the stones as they are naturally already there but we can't bring gravel in.

Sarah advertise the bags of gravel for people to collect. If you leave them there too long the plastic bags will degrade and fall apart. Get rid of them now please or you will be in trouble if they spill out. Your still doing great and getting lots sowed but you should really sow thing like cues and sweetcorn in moduals then you can plants the tiny plants out that do grow. Always watch Gardeners World as they have good tips for growing veg. Love to you both. x

I looked up celeriac & it said it should be planted 30cm (1ft) apart, in rows 40-45cm (16-18in) apart. They like plenty of space and good air circulation. If that's the case, You'll probably need to thin them out and / or space them later ???
That sounds great but quite often people leave their plot and don't do clearances.. they're tired, have already moved on and just want to pick up whatever they can carry or is expensive. No way do people bag up gravel and take it away and then it's next p/h's problem.

Gravel would migrate on to your and neighbour's plots and cause some problems.... easier for committee person to talk to a p/h than for someone non ctee who could be taken to be 'bossy" or interfering etc...good for ypu for accepting it with good grace.
Hey did you know if you put something in the bed like a rock or sculpture you can water it and splash your plants that way nothing gets damaged while watering.

Depending on the size, gravel mixed with soil is good for growing plants
