These for me represent the epitome of "grace, space, pace". A proper fast Jag. Understated, effortlessly smooth and yet stonking performance on demand. I had an XFR for several years and the 5.0 supercharged motor is just epic.
Why did you get rid of it?
@@jp3630 Combination of factors. Retirement made it hard to justify keeping it when we needed to go from three to two vehicles. Having had Jags for 15 years I still hanker after another of some kind if funds allow.
I've had mine for 3 years. Almost identical but a hard top. Other than brakes, tyres and a buckled wheel, it's been bomb proof and ballistic in equal measure. Everyone who's ever been in it, loves it, and I get let out at junctions as well. It actually makes me drive like a grownup... Almost.
Did you do the pully upgrade?
I went off Piste this year and bought a Jaguar XF Portfolio 2010, one owner from new and full dealership service history, and if it need anything doing to it the previous owner did it at Jaguar, needless to say its the best car i have owned and unlike previous cars i've owned i just love driving it every time i get in it. Great video Matt & not surprised your keeping it.
Enjoy!
Great work 👌🏻
And I did the same - 2013 XF Portfolio S. definitely my GOAT, it’s a great combination of talents.
If I still had a commute to work longer than 7 miles I'd definitely get another XF.
I got a new XF Portfolio 25T in 2018, using my son's JLR discount. The deal was too good to turn down. No deposit and £298 per month for three years, then a £22000 balloon payment. I am on the cusp of 20000 miles and haven't had any problems, except for a recent battery. Hardly used through lockdown and hospitalisation for heart surgery!
the XK's were amazing cars, very beautiful, awesome to drive and hear that roar, and very reliable units, i worked for jaguar for 17 years and was a shame when they ended production, future classic these for sure.
I love it Matt, oozes style. My (late) husband a Jag lover, his last company car was the new XF (had to go back for a recall 🤪). We had a 3.0 2007 V6 S Type, the car drove lovely, not great mpg either and £500 rfl per yr. I always felt as you have identified some areas of the interior let the car down, though this was the Ford ownership era. Continue to enjoy buying the cars you love as life is too short.
I came so close to buying one of these last year but went for something a bit more sensible instead (Lexus). The test drive still stays with me to this day... A perfect mix of comfort and performance.
The Lexus LC is very very close to XK and even built better then the XK and a free warranty up to 10 years old Lexus do it right
Yeah I'd say you made the right choice, though both cars are excellent.
@@Jeffybonbon my dream lottery-win car is an LC500! Lighter colour with a red interior 🤤🤤
@@AWMJoeyjoejoe You're right. I'd still like an XK as a toy though. Been watching a couple at trade auctions and wondering if I could justify a neglected one as a weekend project car.... (Am I mad?). The Lexus I went for is a GS250 F-Sport with ML Audio and all the toys. Full Lexus history so still under the Relax warranty until mid 2024. It absolutely annihilates everything else I've ever owned including a couple of very nice XF's a Range Rover and a black edition A6. Could be quicker at just 215bhp but that's my only complaint.
I bought a 2009 coupe last year, it's absolutely fantastic. That noise is just something else.
Brown trouser time some times as it does seem to have unlimited top speed.
Serviced and maintained at a Jag specialist it's no more expensive to run and maintain than a new German SUV.
Plus you can happily pootle around at 30mph feeling very smug.
I did fancy a DB9 but literally twice the price and I can't really afford the running costs on an Aston Martin.
Couldn't agree more!
Awesome choice, Matt. I'm a proud owner of a 2005 XK8-S and love it.
That gorgeous piece of precious metal you've just bought would be one of the very few cars I'd change it for.
Good luck with your fantastic new purchase.
Great choice! Have been thinking convertible V8 GT’s myself & reckon this, or the previous XK make a lot of sense! 500 SL was also a consideration, but ABC suspension issues would scare me off using it for long road trips & older jags don’t get the ‘mean streets’ image problems like older high-end mercs either, the jags just look like ‘old money’.
Would take the Jag over the Merc all day if I were you, even an Aston if the budget stretches far enough.
That’s a great looking (and sounding) car. I actually like the chrome supercharged badges on the bonnet but would definitely change the rear number plate to a smaller version. It would make a terrific summer car, it would be awesome to listen to that engine with the roof down on a sunny day😎
Same for me. Love the chrome but rear number plate is too big.
Me too
I like the chrome badges on the bonnet, and i would get a smaller rear # plate.
🚗 💥 💨
Superb car, good choice Matt. Your toybox it bulging and is becoming the envy of many a car collector. Keep 'em coming 😀😀
Hurrah about time! I bought an XKR 5.0 Coupe based on your last video. I've had it 18 months and love it. I agree with all your observations and comments etc, except; I get 27mpg average. I've driven mixed pleasure and business, and on a run I get 30 mpg on dual carriageways and motorways. If I drive it like a hooligan I get 15 mpg. But it averages up really easily when used with respect. I've had to fix more things on it than I have on my CLS 350 in 10 years, but most have been simple DIY and nothing in the last 12 months. I love German cars; they are superbly engineered, but the Jag is finely built, maybe not superb, but it just has that "Je ne said quoi"
Hello Matt, lovely looking car. I agree about the rear index plate, it looks to big. Enjoy that engine sound. Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged.
Lovely motor
This has always been on the 'would buy list!' There's something appealing about a mid priced Jag V8 knowing it looks classy, sounds good and goes like stink... and without the worry of ruinous servicing and that thieves don't want them either is an added bonus
Well I can say I agree with everything you’ve said Matt as I bought this very car off your garage yesterday and drove it home through the Peak District with a big childish grin on my face every time I put my foot down. It’s by far the best car I’ve had in terms of enjoyment for the money and it’s perfect if you’re a big guy too in terms of driver space. Thank you for taking so much car of the car too, it looks stunning.
Stunning. Congratulations!
Need that updated car collection asap!! Congrats Matt!
5 liter V8 ❤Great purchase!
Keep up the videos man😊
Good choice ! I’ve owned one for nearly 5 years, it’s been bomb proof and super reliable (46k miles) maintain it and service regularly and you won’t have any problems
Looks like a nice day out in the Peak ;) Lovely car. I had a look at an XF recently. Really impressed with what you can get for your money 👍👍 Thank you.
I’ve had my current XKR / Black Pack / Speed Pack / limited to 175 mph (Just saying 😁) For over 6 years. I love it, you’re right, supercars don’t do it for me either,I love these GT’s. It’s on a 2011, only 45000, it’s hardly used, but always puts a smile on my face, I agree, the 2012 model has a more sleek front end and have considered the upgrade, probably will at some stage, enjoy the ownership Matt, another great vid 👍🏻
I bought the same model 4 months ago, but a 2010 - mine has 73k on the clock but doesn't look like it! Previously had a 'standard' 2010 but some berk literally ran it over while it was temporarily parked on the road and wrote it and 2 other cars off 😢 - although would say I do prefer the new one...
Beautiful car from any angle matt including the interior don't blame you for keeping it, I would 👍
Congratulations on the new car. Such a timeless design
Love an XKR and XKR-S! Good for you Matt! 👍🏻
I love Jag. I myself own XK-x150, XJ6-x350, XJL-x351. They are my daily driving cars. Timeless design, always look stunning and catching eyes.
Your review convinced me the 5.0 was the one for me. Bought one in September and still have a smile on my face. Thank you. Keep up the great work.
Enjoy it
Beautiful! I had an XFR for a while, loads of fun 😊
Very nice choice Matt. It’s a keeper for sure 🎉🎉
What an awesome car and the styling is superb, such a great choice Matt.
I can tell what this will be, great choice!
I love big engined jags. I did have a xfs and then (after seeing your XJ review) traded it in for a 2014 xjr. The car really is the best of both worlds. It's a comfortable, quiet luxury barge then becomes an absolute monster when u put your foot down! I was looking at a similar age XKR but liked the XJ interior better.
Congratulations Matt. She is a beauty
Brilliant car mate. She's beautiful and sultry, well done!
Simply stunning. I loved my XK while I had it, lovely drive and plenty of power with 385bhp. Will certainly be considering a XKR in future.
An absolute beast of a car, a year of ownership and ive loved every bit of it
Good man! Impeccable taste in cars!
Very good, the 2nd gen XK does look very good in black. I purchased a 1st gen XKR Coupe also last summer. With a BRG exterior and ivory interior it looks gorgeous in my mind, and I love the driving experience as well. One day in the summer I was driving it on some quiet roads on a saturday morning and I had classic fm on. There was this lady singing some opera, and then with the power pedal I made the supercharger join the singing, and man, that moment gave me some goosebumps.
Welcome to the converted. I have had my XK 5.0 Portfolio for just over 6 months. Best car i have owned so far. Always brings a smile to my face.
One of the loveliest Jaguars 😍
Absolutely beautiful Mat! This is my dream car too! I used to have a xk8 and I just love the look of them jags 👌
I’m looking to buy an XF at the moment, but i really love the XK. It’s a lot better looking than the original XK from the 90s - imo.
Hope you enjoy that V8!!
It's interesting as I've heard a few people say they prefer the X150 body, but I've always preferred the X100.
It just seems more understated and extra classy.
Very good choice. Its amazingly stunning 👍
In hardtop form, white with the black interior...perfection!
Lovely car Matt 👍
Drove my brother in law’s XKR around Goodwood. I can totally understand why you love it. It’s a lovely car
Good choice. I am contemplating to replace my fully forged subaru STI with one of this next year.
Well done. Welcome to the XKR Club. I knew you would bite the bullet eventually. I have a 2013 soft top with only 20K miles. I love it and will never sell - my kids will inherit it! Amazing car with its own personality. A keeper alongside my 560SEC!
Love it ! the sound alone is yummy & that's without the yummy looks to top the package off, plus the shear joy at imagining Greta's face as you drove past her while she was once again being arrested and giving her a wave and a rev .
I love the hard top in white. Amazing coupe. Good choice!
Lovely jag, really underrated and forgotten these XKR's
I agree with your choice - a great car for really sensible money. Unfortunately in the US it appears that good condition lowish miles examples are starting to have high-ish asking prices.
I had the 08 XK the 4.2l model and that was class. So I'd imagine the xkr is wonderful. Got admiring glances everywhere. People love them. Classic shape. Lots of power.. Handles well. Great value for money.
Stunning car Matt, enjoy sir
Absolutely beautiful mat great choice had an xk few years ago now and been regretting selling it every day since
Always loved these Jags. Get the wheels and bumper done you deserve it and it will look good while you own it.
Looks classy Matt.. Good buy 👏 I'm sure you'll get the few niggles sorted.. Enjoy cruising.
Lovley car! Well done!
I've got a 5.0 NA hard top of these - it is an absolutely fantastic car. I reckon its a keeper, your one looks lovely.
Wonderful matt! A man with supreme taste! 👍🏻
Thanks!
Great choice 👍🏼
I have had an x100 XKR Classic for 22 years now. I’m never selling it, it is simply wonderful
Love it. I’ve nearly gone for one of these a few times but never quite managed it.
Beautiful car very classy not surprised you're keeping it
Stunning Car Mat..you can't beat the looks of a Jaaag!!👍👍👏👏
Stunning! Love the jag. I've just bought an xj. Love it!
Good choice!
Congratulations - awesome car. I've got one of the last ones made with 25k on the clock - treat when I sold my business. Always turn around and look at it when I am walking away - big smile when it is time to get back in.
Gorgeous car Matt! Very tempted myself although I have been looking at the xf 3 litre v6👍
Bought my XKR back in 22. Replace that rear plate with a shaped one Matt...transforms the rear view totally.
I know exactly why you're keeping it, they're fantastic, I love mine being a coupé which has a practical boot and in Botanical Green which I love 👍
Beautiful design.
Really like these , absolutely stunning, and that v8 ..
I’ve had my 09 convertible XK 4.2L since new and it is as beautiful today as the day I bought it. They are truly stunning cars.
Congratulations. Seems like a very good decision indeed.
Beautiful car and beautiful scenery
Beautiful car! Good health!
Great motor matt you deserve it 👏
I like Matt's excuse for keeping the Jaaag....um...it's the last oooorahhh😂😂😂😂.
Always fancied one of these.
I loved my xkr. Would have one again tomorrow and know it would still make me smile
I agree mate - its a stunner
Love it! Also one of my all time favourites.😎
Beautiful car Matt . Enjoy it while you can because we are all headed for a Renault Zoe 😀
Super nice car. Enjoy it!
They look very nice for their Age!
They sound very Fruity and the interior is lovely!
Great video as always Matt"
The XKR really screams High Peak Autos! :D
Thanks! I think so too
Great. I've had an XK 5.0 naturally aspirated since Feb this year and I've never thought 'this could do with a bit more oomph'. I get close to 30mpg on the steady motorway runs I normally do. And yes, get rid of that rear plate.
Love these. Future classic me thinks
Lovely Machine 😍
Your vids NEVER disappoint Matt! Brilliant , well presented vid of one fast BIG Cat on 4 wheels. I think You would make a damn good petrol head TV programme presenter Matthew. Your heart and soul are totally in the 'Zone'. 👍 I still blame (and thankyou) for inspiring me to buy my M-B SLK 3 yrs ago. Best car I've had so far.
Thanks! Very kind
That little smile 😏 at the end when you pull away shows you made the correct decision. Enjoy 👍
Class, still miss my old XF
Another great asset to your collection soon you will need to hire a team to drive them all, I’ll get my cv ready !!
This jag back in the day blew my mind for power to weight
I own a F type v8 now but still love these cars
Nice Jag. 👍👍
I’ve had a black 2014 N/A XK coupe for 3 years now, I’ve had zero issues. Excellent cars, great to drive and look fantastic. I agree about the post 2011 facelift, the side vents and LED lights look better.
A great choice for a Jag fan like you. Totally agree it is a gorgeours looking car probably one of Ian Callum's best designs - he should receive a knighthood for the Jaguar's he's created! That supercharged V8 engine sounds amazing and I imagine its a delight to drive - we should make the most of cars like this before the souless EV's take over!
I’ve always loved Jags. Sadly I’ve never owned one. Great car Matt, can’t blame you for keeping it.
Lovely lovely thing!. I have a mate who is a big Jag Head and owns two XK150s and he has an XKR as his 'modern' He really rates them.
Love the xkr I've had the older model for the last 15 years cheap classic insurance. normal road tax, wood, leather, 0/60 in 5 sec its been fantastic.
What a beautiful car Matt. I thought certain lines and angles of the car is very Aston Martin like. And the burble of the exhaust makes you want to floor it every time you pull away from traffic lights etc. For however long you hold onto it; enjoy.
Another great video Matt; cheers.
Same designer as the 1st gen vanquish and the DB9
