    OMG. What a start. It's fast paced and that demon lord defeated that dragon so easily. LOL and I finally understand why your character portrait is so different from your 3D avatar. And you see Daerun from the start. He reminds me of Astarion except having more bite to his sarcasm.

    I was playing wotr, but them i decided to put aside and start Bg3 ...
    it's a GREAT game, but it's not what i really look for on a Crpg.
    Now started Pillars of Eternity 1 and i'm enjoyning!
    I'll try to play entirely, and them play the POE 2 as well, and then i 'll go back to pathfinder!
    And, like always, i get a lot of help on your vids!

      BG3 is a great game, but it's not the same thing as the more classic isometric view cRPGs, it doesn't quite scratch that same itch. You're in for a great time with Pillars of Eternity, I've been feeling like playing it again myself eheh just not sure when I'll have the time.
      Best of luck and enjoy :D

      Double aloths damage? That is a very bold statement :o I find it hard for someone to top a wizard's damage lol (not saying I don't believe you btw) I could be underestimating the druid of course. I normally don't pick druids because I was never much of a fan of the druid nature guy concept and the spell list seems in theory to be tricky no make work since a lot of the spells rely on enemies already being on low HP. While I like the gameplay of WotR a lot more I think the story of Kingmaker is much tighter. Also feels like WotR is much much harder early on through Act 1 but gets progressively easier compared to the more linear difficulty bump in Kingmaker.

    • @CoredumpedGaming
      @CoredumpedGaming  19 днів тому

      I am on the same boat as you. I also prefer kingmaker in terms of story and also the setting and enemies. WotR does give you a mythic power fantasy though that pretty much no other game can match in my opinion and also brings some very very nice quality of life changes.
      I actually find WotR easier than Kingmaker, if you are already familiar with the game. For a new player it can indeed be quite punishing. I also agree that WotR does become easier than Kingmaker the further you get into it, especially because of the mythic levels.

    Oh noooo probably too late since you must have recorded these episodes already but remember you can do the experience sharing trick! With changing between the experience being shared or not, as long as you have less than 6 people in the party you get more experience with it being turned off, and you can turn it on when getting new people to have them be bumped up to your level. Changing that option and the skill check experience share option doesn't affect the other difficulty options, just like Last Azlanti.
    Anyway, excited for this playthrough!
    EDIT: Gasp, not starting with an odd number for your main stat! *clutches pearls* Get this man's min-maxer card revoked! :p

      @SilverkissYoutube 19 днів тому

      Ah nice on the exp trick, ultimately in the long run it doesn't matter but the early game as you say is the most dangerous part (and frankly, also the most boring since you don't have access to most of what you will eventually have) so I always try to maximize exp gain in the first few levels to smooth out the process!
      And yeah, the stat comment was 99% a joke (there's always a grain of truth ho ho ho), I think what you went with is perfectly fine :)

    • @CoredumpedGaming
      @CoredumpedGaming  19 днів тому +1

      Yeah, it would only make much of a difference if I decided to solo most of the Kenabres Market Square (which you can do easily with certain classes), but I won't go for that as I don't like it too much and also don't think it would be very enjoyable for the viewers either. The main difference and the biggest upside for be in doing this is obtaining level 3 in the middle of the Shield Maze - *that* is a massive boost for a time where we very much need all the help we can get!

    • @SilverkissYoutube
      @SilverkissYoutube 19 днів тому

      Agreed! I usually do almost all of Kenabres before the garrison with only 4 people (MC, Seelah, Camellia and Wendu usually) to maximize the experience gained, but I only play on Core and without Last Azantli, and even then by the start of chapter 2 the difference is less than a full level IIRC, so not even that worth taking the risk. The main thing is as you said getting to level 3 in the middle of the shield maze and starting out Kenabres at level 4, these two things IMO make the difference in smoothing the experience out a bit and are well worth it.

  • @Asankeket
    @Asankeket 19 днів тому

    An interesting character concept. Looking forward to seeing it perform. Seeing the difficulty screen again, it reminds me of why I like those extended options. It makes it possible to play a character type just because it is interesting, even if it's not very efficient in combat. Usually, more powerful builds are also quite cool and stylish, but this doesn't always map. Something I found regrettable in a game like Elden Ring, where there are so many weapons with cool moves, which are just too inefficient to ever use given the game has a set difficulty.
    Meanwhile, when you chose your character portrait, I was convinced you'd be going Sorcerer/Lich or some other evil combo. It really does not fit a lawful good follower of Iomedae. I guess you're going Angel, too? Edit: well, I guess rather not considering what you've said in another comment....

      Ah, it's all in the open still! Who's to tell I'm not just deceiving everyone for a major plot twist later on? Angel is probably the best mythic path to take for Last Azlanti after all :D

  • @notalefty999
    @notalefty999 19 днів тому

    I think my favourite build in this game was a eldritch knight lich. Even for a relatively pure caster, when you consider the power of features like vampiric blade and fear control, 1 caster level and martial weapon proficiency in exchange for 3 bonus feats, spell critical and an additional 5 BAB is a no brainer, unless you want to do something else like arcane trickster (as an aside, horns of naraga, death rush, the lich's naturally very high caster level and an arcane trickster can make for a devastating battering blast build, but its AoE potential is quite poor).
    In my case, I was a dual wielding kitsune for dex and charisma bonuses and most importantly, the vulpine charge feat from midgame onwards. Granted, you just play as a pure caster until you get mythic weapon finesse and even then, on last azlanti, you would be stupid to try and melee with the build until rank 3 once you have bone shield (to stop crits one shotting you), vampiric blade and fear control so you can actually hit. That said, eldritch knights tend to fight rather poorly until midgame anyway, so its not a big deal. From chapter 3 onwards, this build was rather strong, as most merged casters are.
    Death rush + mythic charge plus pounce allows for massive damage, the self healing is great. Dual wielding kukris (I actually used handaxes as I was playing before the nerf to the threat ranges of gravesinger and peacemaker) allows for plenty of attacks per round and reliably triggering spell critical. Its rather feat and mythic ability starved and ended up taking enduring spells without abundant casting and no spell focus feats, so the spell DC was only around 40, but he still had a healthy number of casts per day and buffing, resting resetting all your spell slots whilst still having every single buff active helped with spell slots a lot.
    You get immunity to crits and nearly all hostile stealth effects and even without the dip into scaled fist, you can get very high AC stacking all the arcane buffs and get a nice lategame boost by sacrificing Daeran to get charisma to deflection AC. You can also achieve a huge health pool of well over 1000 if you stack the various health drain and false life effects, with vampiric blade appearing to top you up to your temporary health total whilst these effects are active. You dont really rely on saves much due to your immunities, but power from death actually becomes a really good buff once you can get a 24 hour duration and its quite feasible to get a big stack of this buff in every lategame area before any of the harder fights.

    • @CoredumpedGaming
      @CoredumpedGaming  19 днів тому

      Sounds like a really powerful build! I tend to like the 1 level in monk for the early game since it gives a nice boost to both defensive and offensive capabilities, especially with flurry of blows instead of just being a rather ineffective character early on, but I fully believe that later on you can get quite defensive even without the monk dip.
      Vampiric blade is superb and one of my favourite things for the build since it adds so much damage as well as lots of healing. I won't be going for DC spells, it will mostly be casts of irresistible spells from the lich list and the rest will go into buffs and support.

    • @CoredumpedGaming
      @CoredumpedGaming  19 днів тому

      I'm inclined to no longer tell you my mythic plans :p So, hypothetically, yes, you can go for the Lich path regardless of your alignment. Even if you are lawful good, Zacharius will give you a quest to go kick a puppy or something which will immediately drop your alignment to Neutral (I think? maybe Evil) which allows you to meet his other requirements. After you do the quest that actually requires you to be Neutral or Evil, you can just consume a scroll of atonement and there you have it, good boy Lich :D

    For my first character, I made a sylvan Sorcerer. Animal companions are AMAZING in this game. I heard the sylvan bloodline is weaker than other bloodlines... but I don't care, my pet Leopard has higher AC than Seelah and deals decent damage too.

      @CoredumpedGaming  16 днів тому +1

      Ah yes, you are not wrong. Animal companions are already very good in Kingmaker, they are even better in Wrath of the Righteous :D The Sylvan bloodline is a good bloodline to pick, mostly due to the pet. The other bloodlines offer different options, which really just depends on what you want to do with your sorcerer. If you're planning on playing him as more of a control/DC caster, Sylvan is perfectly fine. If you wanted to go for a more offensive caster, the other bloodlines may offer a damage increase. In any case, with the mythic feats you can always add additional bloodlines to your character if you so choose :)

      First of all, thank you! Happy to hear you enjoyed those.
      As to your question, it depends a bit on what you are looking for. My personal preference between the two is Pillars of Eternity (especially the first game). It's a simpler game in terms of the gameplay system which is better suited if you are somewhat new to cRPGs while still providing enough complexity to be very enjoyable and quite replayable and also has the better story out of the 4.
      Pathfinder has a more advanced and complex system that may be harder to get accustomed to. It's a very good and fun game with an awesome gameplay system behind it *once you get used to it*.
      So, in summary, my suggestion, based on my personal preferences and what I think is best for a player to start learning - Pillars of Eternity 1.

    Inevitable Excess adds rather powerful items to the main campaign if you defeat inevitable darkness on unfair. Further, there is nice item for martial liches, but it requires that you play as a lich in inevitable excess and then replay the main campaign as a lich, which is honestly a questionable design decision. Its a head item, so not very good for intelligence liches as you wont get a decent intelligence item outside of your head slot. For sorcs, however, googles of the broken trickster make this a non issue.

    • @CoredumpedGaming

  • @sergiom3988

    If you want to do a half martial half magic caster, I recommend Magus. There is one subclass that uses charisma instead of intelligence and is a spontaneous caster rather than a prepared spells caster like normal magus, the sorcerer version of magus basically. However, other sub-classes have something to offer, sword saint adds the intelligence bonus to AC (I would say its the Pathfinder equivalent of DnD's blade singer wizard), while arcane rider gives you a horse and the ability to teleport, which is huge, you can reach backline without fearing attacks of opportunity

    • @CoredumpedGaming
      @CoredumpedGaming  16 днів тому

      Magus is definitely a very solid option. Especially if you don't want to bother with multiclassing, the Magus can be a very competent gish character as a pure class. I'm not going for the Magus however for a couple of reasons:
      1. The way spell combat works is tailored for Turn Based combat, which I rarely use. Trying to use spell combat in RTwP often results in a much lower performance on your character sadly.
      2. Magus only get up to level 6 spells, I like having access to the higher level spells.
      3. I sometimes like to try to be fancy with multiclassing and I love the Eldritch Knight level 10 ability :p
      Arcane rider is a class I've been meaning to play with. I really like mounted combat, and having it directly in the Magus class seems like a really fun option :D

    • @sergiom3988
      @sergiom3988 16 днів тому

      @@CoredumpedGaming I can see your points. Yeah, the ability to cast a spell and attack in the same turn is often wasted if one doesn't pause constantly, and even then... Although I guess setting a cantrip to be used automatically could somewhat mitigate that? Anyway, great points, if you're not going to do turn based Magus would just be a lot of wasted potential.

    • @CoredumpedGaming
      @CoredumpedGaming  16 днів тому

      Even with a cantrip it works very poorly. The reason is this: If you set to auto-cast a touch attack to benefit from spell combat and get your extra attack per turn (which is awesome on the Magus), what the game will do is, the character will start casting the spell *even if he is not in melee with the enemy* and then run up to enemy to hit, which means you lose your full attack action because you moved.
