One thing I think you missed on this one and for other chairs is tasks that aren't just computer work/gaming. Those armrests going that high is UNBELIEVABLY helpful for hobbyists. Anyone who paints miniatures for example would love that feature, being able to sit back from the desk, rest your elbows and have your work at eye level is game changing and just put this chair at the top of my considerations list alone.

Warrranty is important. Almost all expensive chair factor in their warranty expenditure into their selling price. Every chair above $300 from various furniture stores provide 2 or more years ON-SITE warranty. At the above $600 range we are looking at 5 years warranty or more. ....asus pricing this chair as such and not providing direct warranty support and NO REPLACEMENT PARTS is atrocious - i would have bought this year otherwise.

@@ScottiPewPewthe main question is whether the cloth will last. That's only something that time can tell, though a longer warranty from a manufacturer gives more confidence that this is the case.

Not necessarily if you actually read through their warranties, what they actually cover it's scary how non existent it is. For instance 12 year herman miller warranty does not cover wear and tear, at 12 years that would probably be the one thing you want to be covered. So warranties over 5 years are just false advertising imo. What they replace is entirely at their discretion, so I no longer look at advertised warranties when facturing in price of a chair. The real warranties of the chair are much shorter. The HM for example is close to 5 years I believe, as that's when certain parts expire. However, no I've heard replacement parts for the rog are non-existent basically, so that's what's preventing me from buying it. I have no worries of it's quality from I've seen, the reason the warranty is so low, at least why I think it is so low, is because Asus is new to the chair market, they don't even know how long this chair is supposed to last even with high quality materials. There may be a desgin flaw somehwere. Compare that to HM aeron that been on the market since before I was born probably, they know exactly how long their chairs last. That's not really something you can test in house. I suspect the successor to this chair will be much more expensive and have a longer warranty once they know 100% it lasts. But durability aside what this chair offers is a steal compared to other chairs. A high quality ergo mesh chair with included headrest that isn't dog water and can recline. I want to buy it so badly, but no replacement parts is why I'm on the fence. In my experience though most problems with a chair occur in the first 30 days, so I may order from Amazon and take the risk.

@@FcoEnriquePerez in my region of the globe, it’s a 24month warranty. In this chairs case, warranty is supplied by the appropriate distributor. The margin on the chair will be small, and so the time frame of warranty reflects this small distributor warranty, I would suggest.

higher than "normal" armrest adjustments is not only good for mobile phone use, but also because short-legged people like me, who need to get the height cylinder very low for foot comfort (without a footrest), will be able to get the right arm height for most standard-size desks. I've run the gamut of ergonomic chair brands (of Europe at least...), and Steelcase, HM or Haworth just force me to get a footrest or be forced to have bad arm positioning for keyboard and mouse tasking.

well, im gonna have to get this chair unless someone else comes out with the same 360 swivel on the armrest.
I play guitar and I'm not getting a 2nd chair to keep in my office for when im tracking or practicing. What most guitarists do (if right handed) is bottom out the arm rests, and sit on the edge of the seat with it rotated to the right. Otherwise the body of the guitar hits the right arm rest, and you dont have enough room under the neck of the guitar for your arm to freely move. Its uncomfortable, a little dangerous, and can ruin the chair as its not meant to support that much weight that far forward. This looks like it would resolve that issue.
The warranty, no ability to buy replacement parts, etc kills it for me tho. I cant in good faith spend $900 and be left out to dry if it breaks.

@@XASMATV. I can't tell about Herman or Steelcase since I've never tried their chairs (and they're quite expensive too).
Like I said, I was coming from a Secretlab Omega that I used for about 2 years. It was very comfy, BUT:
      - the back support was really shallow, almost useless
      - the racing shape actually sucks, and worsened a shoulder trouble for me
Like I said, I'm a developer, and I used this chair pretty much all the time at home (first during COVID, and after when working from home 2-3 days/week, and occasionally while gaming). When I had my shoulder issue, my physiotherapist asked me lots of questions about my working environment. When she saw the chair, she asked me to replace it because its shape pushes the shoulders toward the front, and it's not a good position. She thought that my chair was responsible for about 1/3 of my shoulder issue.
That's when I bought the ROG Destrier, which shape she approved.
It's not as comfy as the Secretlab since it's not cushions but mesh, and the back tilt is not as permissive as the Secretlab. But apart from that, it's a great chair, and way better for my back and shoulders. And I work sitting on it multiple hours/days when I work from home, so yeah, it's a great choice for me, especially for its price (Herman Miller and all the other ones are way more expensive)

@SJET79 Yet, it would last far longer than the Destrier and could even be resold on the used chair market.
Low price means absolutely nothing when the warranty is garbage, and the chair has no resale value.
I'm sure the Destrier is a great chair, but I see no reason to ever buy one unless you can't afford better chairs immediately or prefer the comfort of it over significantly better ergonomic chairs.

@@StardustLegacyFighter “Better” infers value. Value, is subjective. You value resale value (or potential resale value) and warranty length. I value the comfort and value for money (capital investment). Very differing values, so what we find “better” is vastly different. I do find the Destrier supremely comfortable. Better? Depends what you value 😉

    • @StardustLegacyFighter
      @StardustLegacyFighter 10 місяців тому

@SJET79 I agree with what you're saying, but it seems our philosophies differ greatly.
I consider a high end office chair as an investment for my back health, hence why I overlook the price tag, as my health is far more important than "value for money".
At the end of the day, I hope we can at least agree that either of these chairs will serve us better than those crappy racing seats like the Secretcrap Titan. 😂

Would u chose Rog destrier over Secret lab, Arozzi, Razer iskur?
Reason why i ask this is there is no way to get a hold of these chairs to test them myself. I currently have a Arozzi Vernazza Soft Fabric that is to Firm for me and my back due to back problems. and i am thinking going one step above in price category. And the Rog destrier is the next tier. i cant go higher due to money and so on so i cant get the super super expensive ones but this is the only next one in bracket or a Secret lab chair. but ive heard from a friend using secret lab that he was not really impressed with em.

Mesh based seat bottoms are terrible because over time they just stretch. I feel like the seat will start to sag after a year whcih is why the 1 year warranty sucks.

    • @StardustLegacyFighter

Depends on the quality of the mesh.

I’ll be taking delivery of my Destrier today. In Australia (where I am located) this is delivered, including taxes, for $1099AUD and includes 2 year warranty. That puts it at around $695USD with currency conversion. I’ll come back and edit this comment after delivery and assembly. If you compare it to an embody gaming chair, you are not comparing the same price bracket of chairs, and for the price (in my location) it is very reasonable. Embody gaming chair in Australia is $3000AUD not including delivery fees (triple price of Destrier). I hope the Destrier lives up to the hype.
