Through scenarios 1 to 3 and all the campaign it was "Put in the Signals, ROARING LAUGHTER, Switches, I always do that." It was comical every time you built a line. But at least you were relatively consistent using the steps to follow. Lay the track, make sure there are switches and finally make sure there are signals. In scenario 4, you have obviously moved away from using Warehouses, fair enough. But you have given up on making sure every line is solid prior to quickly linking in 8 different stops. The White River, Sudbury and Ste. Sault Marie 3 city cluster was a cluster...er...a train wreck. Even the work around Chicago was a bit dodgy. I.E. missed switches and such. This whole episode was all, "Dude you forgot to take off the run full then you added two cities....and you gave an additional train!", "That's not a two way track, it's 2 one way tracks!" "Signals, I mean Switches or more clearly Grid Irons." I'm glad many of your errors were revealed and corrected by critical break downs but I don't think using this technique is good long term planning. What I liked in the first 3 scenarios was the rapid "Helena" build with the one line but then once the money started to flow you would take the time to make the lines two way. Adjust for volume, "Is this a 5? No it's a 9, lets give him a buddy." Carefully build all the stations with proper Maintenance Depots, Restaurants, and post office. Set up a freight line. You've separated passengers and mail but you did so in a very clean and orderly fashion. Sure mistakes are made but they were rare because protocol was generally followed. Trying new stuff is what keeps it fun, just don't forget to keep your basic standards and procedures in place.
"just don't forget to keep your basic standards and procedures in place." - He's not your employee FFS. Maybe starting your own channel would be a better use of your time rather than these long winded critiques of everything the guy does?
This is one of the toughest scenarios so far. You have to maximize city growth quickly, but capital is always tight. I'm playing as the Entrepreneur for the passenger bonuses which helps some, and I'm using warehouses (missed the episode where you quit on them). The two difficult goals: Connect 900k and 6x75k cities. To meet the goals fast you have to buy resources, which get more expensive with time, because the owners don't upgrade fast enough. Then you pretty much have to grow all cities on the map. Looking forward to see how you handle this in the next episode.
Just to be clear, I have not quit on warehouses. I just had a struggle with one, but I think I've got it figured out and use warehouses quite a bit in scenario 5.
You right about the warehouse and new founding of cities. I tried it and although I tell the train to pick up logs in the warehouse - there was plenty available - it kept running empty. I had to put a line in to source.
Warehouses work fine for me.. You just have to fully supply them AND empty them downstream to get items into the host city. If you do not fully supply the warehouse (for corn, sugar, milk thst means buying and upgrading the business) then you will not generate enough items for the host city. But if you do fully supply them then I have zero issues with warehouses.
I agree. I think warehouses do work as designed. The missing link for me in the way RE2 works right now is that the private owners of farms and mines do not level up to match demand and delivery capability the way they did in RE. Before it was slower than we wanted, but it did happen. In RE2 it seems to never happen to the degree needed. I think the rural businesses do not calculate through the warehouse setups completely so they don't see all the demand. (That's totally a guess but makes sense from a system design perspective considering the migration from one working system to another.) I suspect that a lot of the heartache folks are expressing in the Steam discussion is related to inadequate supply (not delivering to the first city) and inadequate delivery to downstream cities (warehouse is full).
You are correct about the AI owners. I just automatically buy all corn, sugar, vegetables, fruit and salt I am going to use so I can level them up. Every once in a while I have to buy wood or grain.
Thanks for these as I have learnt so much about how to approach the game. I often got stuck in a rut trying to get something perfect, where it is not required, like, e.g. want all cities to grow, where you have taught me that only worry about what is really necessary to reach an objective. Bridge building, however, is still my nemeses. I never walk away from a bridge as a happy customer. I have found myself rather using crossings that bridges and, up to now, have never had an issue with two trains crossing holding each other up. They never seem to reach that crossing the same time, no matter how busy those lines are - maybe a game glitch? lol
I'm glad you have found the videos helpful. Being task driven is key if you want good scores. If not, play sandbox. Bridge building really comes down to leave lots of space so you can drag the line across from a distance. Other than that, I'm still fumbling with building bridges. Maybe some day I will get it. As far as flat crossings, it is true that even fairly busy lines don't really cross at the exact same moment that often, so you can get away with flat crossings, but don't fool yourself. Your trains are probably slowing down more than you might think even if they don't come to a complete halt.
@@Adekyn100 Sandbox not for me. The pressure of tasks is what makes it a likeable game. What is the fun playing if you cannot lose? 🤣🤣 But again, thanks for all the advice. You have made me think a lot different about the game. It is really not about trains, but about the bigger picture all the time. That is what I enjoy. It keeps the brain active and in the same process lets me relax as you have to concentrate so much, you forget about all the other crap in your life!
Wow! VERY Impressed you know it is "Sue" Ste Marie! (Hmmm, unless the original RE had mentioned it? Or it was spoken somewhere else in RE2 ;-p) BET you have to build the Mackinac bridge! (So get on it early and get all those 10's of Canadians wanting to travel to Chicago!)
I'm going to have to run this one again and see what i can do. I went around the opposite way, coming in from the Sudbury side of things. My first run through i concentrated on building a full system at each city and making money, instead of just doing each task to get the top score. I have to really stop myself from doing things that are irrelevant to the scenarios. And yeah absolutely never try to found a city from a warehouse. The warehouses work kind of weird, they will definitely be doing some fixing of them in an update soon i hope. I've noticed some of the fixes you've had, i haven't seen on the Xbox yet, so I'm hoping they do that soon too. Thanks again for another great video keeping me up late to watch
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the video. You know you could watch the videos the next day. Might do wonders for your sleep. More rest might even improve your scores.
@13:35 you didn't put double tracks all the way back to the logs in Green Stop.. The vast majority of that line is single track in your faux double track 😊

The warehouse system does not seem to adequately include the needs of a town being founded, so you really don't get what you need when you need it.

Reminds me of my videos - getting tens of tens of views.

Hahaha, yeah I wish I could get more sleep. It would probably do more wonders than just my scores going up 😂
Thank you
You're welcome
I'm using the Pacific for my Express.. But I didn't get the final score you did.
What is it about the Pacific that made you choose it?

As I recall I catch it later.
