  • Kawasaki Z125 Pro First Ride Review
    www.revzilla.co...
    Big man, little motorcycle. Such was Spurgeon’s San Francisco odyssey atop the mini-but-mighty Kawasaki Z125. Built as Kawasaki’s newest entrant into the “Mini Street” segment, the Z125 Pro provides rookie riders with an intro to life on two wheels. It’s light. It’s affordable. It’s nimble. And it’s reliable. At the same time, however, all of those features have also proven to make it equally enlivening for veteran riders as it ignites a bit of the childish exuberance that got them on a motorcycle in the first place! In the Kawasaki Z125 Pro First Ride Review, Spurgeon explains how this bike lives on both ends of the spectrum, and how Kawasaki’s vision of the Mini Street motorcycle segment translates into performance on the road.
    Also, who doesn’t enjoy a good stoppie set to some ‘90s style sitcom tunes?

      So nothing wrong with a Scooter, what you are saying is that the rider was the problem. there are also stupid riders with 125 geared motorcycles. those people just put bad reputation on scooters etc. I have a scooter including other motorcycle's and yes ''nothing wrong with a scooter'' just don't be a dick at riding.

    Good review. FYI to newer riders... riding with other riders who have the same bike as you will put a smile on your face no matter what kind of bike it is, so I'm not sure that is a good measure. When you are riding alone you will quickly wish the bike had more cubic centimeters. The Z300 would be a superior choice for having fun in a wide variety of riding situations. The Z300 can even handle freeways.

    I was waiting for this video on the Z125 and I like that fact that you did one, but I feel that you fell short. I know. I know. I can go over to Common Thread and read. But I just feel that this video didn't go into much like for example ....your video on the KTM 390 Duke, which I really liked. I would also say your other motorcycle videos went into more pros and cons than this one. This Z125 vid was more like a "hey, look what's here!" video than anything else. I hope you have a Part Two Z125 video with a bit more insight.
    I also hope and look forward to a video on the 2017 BMW G310R video when you're able to get your hands on one. Thank you. Cheers!

    • @SpurgeonDunbar
      @SpurgeonDunbar 8 років тому +4

      Keep in mind that the KTM Duke 390 was a full bike review, this was a First Ride Review. A full on review will give you the in-depth info you are looking for while a first ride review is going to be a bit more abbreviated based on our lack of overall time with the bike. Hopefully as we continue to build this and gain access to more bikes and press events we will be able to offer you even more content across the board. Thanks for the great feedback and as always, thanks for watching!

    • @OntarioAndrews415
      @OntarioAndrews415 8 років тому

      Hi, thanks for your reply. I understand the difference now; Full review vs First Ride review. Again, I do hope you'll be able to spend more time with a Z125 in the not so distant future in order to do a Full review on it. I hope to go look at one in the next few days. No test riding, but I do want to see it in real life. Cheers! :)

    Frankly I can't possibly imagine why someone would get this and not a Kawasaki F6 from the 70s. The F6 has rotary-valve two-stroke power and room to double its output if you want to modify. I guarantee it's better off-road, and I'm pretty sure it's more comfortable. They were relentlessly reliable and comically easy to work on. And, for my money, it looks a whole lot better.

    I test rode one. Its not for me.
    The very short wheelbase and lightness makes it very nimble but body position feels like I'm riding a bar stool with a motor.
    It didn't feel good at 40mph, needed one more gear maybe.
    I can understand why some people like these but they just aren't my taste

I know yours is gonna be a few years older but can I ask how its been for you owning one? How big are you and does the size ever become a problem when riding? The Z250 SL with abs is a way better choice, too bad it is not available in the US, I still do not understand why they will not fill that 125-300cc gap. I can see the fun in a 125cc I learned to ride on a sachs madass but it really needed a 5th gear. I also ate shit once on the Madass locking up the front brake in an emergency braking situation while going 20-30mph, it really killed my confidence. I did not ride it much after that and sold it to get the Z250 SL with abs. ABS should really be manditory on all bikes ridden on public streets. Just put in a stunt option where the abs can be disabled so you can screw off in a controlled environment if you so choose. I hated to see my 125 go as it was what i learned on, but i much rather pass on my 250 with abs to my kid later on down the road maybe put them on a dirt bike first. I recently ordered a Ducati Scrambler 800, still waiting for it to arrive where I live in China.

      It's our usual setup of a Sena 20S Bluetooth communicator paired via Bluetooth to a Sena GP10 Audio Back. The GP10 is physically attached to the back of the GoPro. The GP10 Audio Back has its own specific waterproof housing, designed to fit both the GP10 and the GoPro. The rest is down to sound mixing. We have a very talented video department. -DrewZilla

    Let me argue with you on a point, you say you don't need abs starting out, because why? You are saying that they should learn the hard way? Because every single one will be panicking and grabbing break too hard, and then high siding, if you don't have ABS, which is what they are trying to prevent. I mean I know you were kind of being apologetic about the pro not having it, and this was 4 years ago, but just wanted to interject, as I am certainly pro abs, especially because it cost me a lot that day not having something with it. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
    Anyways, cool video otherwise!

    Question for you; since I don't like wearing backpacks, can this bike fit a ....GIVI tank bag? One of those lock in place ones with the rings that you snap lock? And if so, which size do you think would be best for this small Z125? Think going to pick up some lunch kinda thing. Thanks. :)

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  8 років тому

      Givi does not make a Tanklock flange to fit the Z125, so you cannot mount a Tanklock Tank Bag on it. I'd recommend a strap-style tank bag instead. -DrewZilla
