    I came here looking for a solution to my racecar fuel starving with 6 gallons left in the tank. Now I'm intrigued. Subscribed & will check out the rest of your videos!

    IF you get hot fuel issues then install a small "oilcooler" on the engine return line
    I assume that the intank lift pump is fairly small. It will not like to run dry...
    Looks good!

      Great idea Hans. I'd probably use a mk4 golf fuel cooler on the return if its required 🙂 hopefully it won't be an issue though

      Are you shure that tank was designed to be a swirl pot and not just a tank?
      Tanks cant do pressure, they are ment to vent to atmosphere.

    I'm looking to do a budget fi retrofit on a carbed vehicle, it currently has a mechanical lift pump on the engine with no swirl chamber in the fuel tank .
    Would it be feasible to use a large diesel fuel filter as a swirl pot if i fit the high pressure pump after the filter? the return from the injector head will go back to the filter.
    My thinking is that a diesel without a lift pump can self bleed, why wouldn't it do the same on a petrol?

    Great video I’ve always wanted to see how a swirl tank was fitted but can I ask and I’m sure there is a reason for what you did but why not just put a T on the fuel return line and fit the original one to the swirl tank return apart from having to change the fitting? I’m sure you must have your reasons but still a great job mate 👍

    • @TeamPrawnRacing
      @TeamPrawnRacing  3 роки тому +1

      The idea is that the return line goes to the pot only, so the pot is always over flowing. Then the over flow from the pot goes back to the OE tank. So on normal operation there is never ANY air within the swirl pot 😊

    The box ended up being pretty large in the end. That leaking pot was not at all good. Nice work sealing it up. Entertaining episode (hope your finger is ok) and I liked the fun thumbnail btw.

      Cheers JBP! I could have made the box smaller, but we really wanted to have all the connections entirely inside the box and nothing visible within the cabin from a safety stand point. Finger is recovering. What a plonker 🙈

    Nice video, I’m trying to figure out how to solve my surging issues I get below half a tank. I have an a fuel cell with 2 built in pumps feeding direct to the engine, do you think I could get my in tanks to feed a swirl pot then direct to the engine? Or need another pump in there ?

    Hey man, I have a Surge Tank in my R33 GTR, the previous owner put it in and it stinks like crazy. Fuel smell is everywhere and it comes from the trunk where the surge tank sits. Is it an issue with Hoses, Fittings or tank itself? Dont Know where to start
    Regards

    Are you using an in-tank fuel pump and an external one or just the external?

    • @TeamPrawnRacing

      we have an intank pump feeding the swirl pot, then an 044 gravity fed for the main supply

    Thanks for the video! I was considering using a small fuel tank like this for my surge tank on my car. I had my suspicions about those lids not holding up to any pressure. Im gad i found this before going out and getting one with out planning to first modify it. How is the surge tank working ? is it still working well as a system ?

    • @umakemerandy3669
      @umakemerandy3669 Рік тому

      Yea unfortunately I dont think thats meant to be a surge tank, just a fuel tank. Not that a fuel tank should leak either i guess..
