THE HARDEST MAP IN VERMINTIDE 2 - Cataclysm Dark Omens - Wood Elf Waystalker Hunting Beastmen

- We got 3 Minotaurs! The Wood Elf Waystalker Kerillian plunges into Dark Omens on Cataclysm difficulty to hunt Beastmen on Warhammer Vermintide 2. In my opinion, Dark Omens is the hardest map in the game, due to the extensive chokepoints, multiple boss spawns, and the nature of hordes of Beastmen pinning you in ravines on both sides, between two banners.
In my opinion, the debate of the most difficult map in Vermintide 2 comes down to Engines of War and Dark Omens, and I personally think Dark Omens has worse difficulty spikes because of the map design itself, and the faction you are fighting (Beastmen). Chokepoints can be a good place to fight because it forces your team to stay together and overlap dps (and this map has plenty of them), but on Cata there are often waves of 6 specials that can only come at you from 2 directions. So they can easily cast tornados safely from on high, or otherwise pull you to your death in the middle of a horde, not to mention how difficult it can be to shut down banners when you're pinned between hordes on both sides and only have one narrow avenue of approach. Combine all that with "Nipple piercing alley", the huge ravine system near the back end of the map where Bosses, Ungor Archers, and massive density of ambient trash and armor spawn and draw aggro as Hordes come after you, and you've got a recipe for serious ass kicking on behalf of the AI. Not to mention its pretty common to get 3 bosses on this map. I know not everyone loves fighting Beastmen, but I personally think Fatshark did a great job with the rebalance of them, and I find them really fun to fight. This is one of my favorite runs!
Agreed. Don't forget the first Drachenfels map. The damn gargoyle head event in the crypt is a nightmare. The map is super long and then it punishes you at the very end.
What about Fortunes of War? The endless onslaught of special, elites and 3 bosses in such an open area makes it much harder imo but how would you rank it?
Fort Brachsenbrücke is just the worse. At least in Dark Omen you can finish it with good coordination and knowing the map, in Convocation of Decay you can win if you make the run last enough but in Fort Brachsenbrücke it's constant elits/berserks/slave until someone pick the cannonball (which, is difficult even with good cooperation)

Glad to see you covering more Vermintide. I wish Winds of Magic had brought more adventure maps similar to Dark Omens. It is a very tough map, but it's also a fun map since it is designed with beastmen in mind and the ways they would fight, ambushing from cliffs and forests or rampaging across barrens. Otherwise I am glad they are mostly out of the base game, as they make no sense there and just end up being more frustrating than interesting. Having a gor silently crawl out of a rat hole and delete any amount of health in one swing is simultaneously hilarious, stupid and bad.
That was a good run. Always fun to go out with your buds to drink potions and throw axes at the local cow population.
You know what your comment just inspired me, what if there was an achievement, for staggering 5000~ beastmen and it's called "Cow Tipper"

@@TheCompdept but it’s the same concept get surrounded by zombies/rats and you have to fight your way out yes there are some differences like stormvermin that are regular enemies that do more damage and have more health but it has the same concept and that is what I was referring to when i said it was left for dead rats edition
Dark omens is tough through the map, but it's very very doable. The main difficulty used to be the ending, untill people found out you can just kill the flags without killing the minotaur or any other enemies.
Engines of War is pretty tough during the barrel part, but again very doable.
Truly hard maps are convocation of decay and especially enchanter's liar because of their insane end event.
I wish the Beastmen had more units, both in this and total war, War dogs and God Gors would probable be doable in this Beastmen could defiantly use a mini campaign to like 5 levels

@@milkandcookiesTW And the Ghorgon. A fast giant to not be total trash. The Expanded Roster mod gives them a makeshift Ghorgon with a giant height Minotaur it's great, faster than normal minotaurs, a bit less damaging than a Giant. and it still has the Minotaur's animations, so it can rolling attack or bodyslam through a third of an infantry squat.
i thought it was the hardest map too, after release, but actually i got used to it quickly, you have a lot of up and downs on the map to dps and buy time for res

You have a good team and I like your teams positioning, yourself included. But I don't like this build. You could have problems with handling big pressure in gerneral. Also with sustaining ammo, without the Dwarf who gave you one extra talent from his roster. Why the barrage instead of ammo feed? You don't seem to utilise it at all? Why movement speed instead of regeneration or stamina? Is that Skaven damage reduction any good when you don't have any other damage reductions except prom Foot Knight? Will duo swords help You when You get pushed into the wall with armor mixed with horde and Your ultimate skill is down? I don't think this build is very all rounded. On the other hand, I wonder if you had any particular damage brake points in mind there. Could you explain them? I'm very curious. Does assasin skill make the doual swords not as terrible against armor? How do You kill Chaos Warriors?
is siena bad in the game?
no she is very strong. no characters are bad really, but some classes are better than others. sienna is a force of nature on Battle Wizard especially
I've got 600hrs in this thing, and Unchained is the single best class in the entire game for pure destructive force. It's not even close imo! :)
Painfull ta watch, try it on the daily challenge where they split and all the enemies are upgraded

I was playing the Return to Vermintide 1 DLC and split off from the group to find some loot. I enter a small church building. All of a sudden I hear a roar, I turn around and there's a fucking Minotaur wailing on me. We eventually beat it but died minutes after.

Back in my day, we didnt't push the minotaur off the cliff but we fight him with honor and glory ! Sure, we all got killed in the end, but it was in style. Younglins today don't know how to fight proprely ... (Cousin Okri would be very disappointed by all this)

Beat enchanter's lair on cata the other day for first time, then was so happy with the group (a PUG) that we immediately did Convocation and beat that too! Yay two hardest maps down in one go :)

i dont know why but i really like this game, too much fun for an game not soo expensive.
Fortunes of war Cata is way harder, but i don't know what standards you go after since fortunes in a way is a survival wave map. But i atleast consider it to be the absolute hardest challange in the whole game, and that frame ain't seen often.
i remember to have finish dark omens in cataclysm with only one player with me; a random but a random veterant of V1 and V2. the build: the veterant: battle wizzard , bot: ironbreaker , bot: mercenary and me with shade. the killing is for shade and battle wizard (shade: specials, elits , boss. BW: the hordes and the infantry) godbreaker for an immortal punching bag and mercenary THE jack of all trade insta revive, temp HP and one pillar of The Empire ready for Duty.
If you dont play as the dwarf what are you even doing you lumberfoot

im not saying ur word is that of god indy but it does baffle me when someone trys to debate ur strats or game logic. every now and then youll make a mistake but overall you know what to do, thats why id just roll with what you say. just a weird thing i notice with some of the ppl u always play with. love the vid tho
nothing wrong with some healthy debate, i make wrong calls plenty. just important for everyone to be on same page, so even if its the "Wrong" call, as long as everyone is doing it together, skill and teamwork will often see you through. all these players are very good and knowledgeable about the game

Maybe you found Out by now, but the weapon cosmetics with the light blue shiny stuff are illusion of equipment with red rarity with exception of DLC weapons. U can get reds from emperors chests (max loot lvl champion difficulty) or any chest from Legend/cata

yeah i did it not too contested by the beastmen yes it was hard but no where near as hard as some other missions
I cant do any difficulty above champion because I dont have any friends who play and I'm always on 300 ping in quick match champion is hard enough with 300 ping and even if i could find some Australian people to play with i dont have a mic and no one wants to play with mic less people so ill never get red items
Have you tried changing the settings to only search for players who are near you?
Enchanter's Lair is way harder. I'll run Engines of War Cata Twitch with a good group no problem. Did Dark Omens in like 3 tries first time to get Cata, still have yet to complete Enchanter's Lair with a good group.
Enchanter's Lair there's a good trick to knowing whether or not the end boss is going to slaughter your group or not (especially in a pug)... see how well your group does against the mini-bosses. If it takes too long to kill them, you will definitely wipe in the last stage of the fatty at the end. Works 100% of the time!
I love the soundtrack at the finale of this map!
Its a decently hard one, not as bad as enchanters lair or blight ritual, but thats just my opinion.

Can someone tell me how do you get those weapon illusion? I thought purple was the only colour in Fatshark glowy palet. Thanks a lot
Those are just veteran (red) dual swords. The veteran items all have a turqouise glow. Usually, there are 2 different veteran skins per weapon and more often than not the purple one from the store is the knock-off version of one of them.
You can get red items from commendation chests (very rarely), general and emperor chests (champion, rarely) and all vaults (legend+, rarely to fairly frequent depending on tier of the chest).
@@theStamax Thanks! I think it is because i never opened a red weapon, even tho i am playing on legend. My friend keep opening red weapon and no hat while i have all the hats and no red weapons.
@@vincentprinceguay5847 That's really odd. If you manage to get emperor vaults you should be able to get one red every 6 chests or so. Anyways, if you keep playing you'll get them eventually (though it's still a terrible, TERRIBLE system if you want a particular one).

Cata Blightreaper is more difficult IMO - unless you get really good RNG.
Vermintide 2 devs lets lock Cataclysm difficulty behind a paywall lol.
The pay wall does come with new weapons for every class, a new map, and a new enemy to fight.

Hey, Im stupid, how do I get veteran items?
Are you talking about the Red rarity weapons and equipment? Those can only drop in Commendation chests, General's Chests (Champion), Emperor's Chests (Champion), or any Legend vault. But by far your best chance to get them is by getting a Generals or Emperors Chest on Legend difficulty, which means full book runs on Legend

What kind of new content, new playable character or new enemy factions would you hope be released for vermintide in the near future?
on cata this is one of the easier maps because the beastmen hordes do not have any damage dealing elites or monks/berserkers, also beastmen have been nerfed into the ground.
I agree not having to deal with Monks or Zerkers in hordes is nice, but Dark Omens has quite a few of the worst areas of any map in the game. Nipple Piercing Alley ravine system at 15:30 is consistently a nightmare for even well coordinated teams. Gors still hit for like half your HP anyway. And there are a lot of boss spawn areas where there's essentially zero room to kite or maneuver. Dont agree that its one of the easier maps on Cata
Dont want to say this, but man, your aim on this map was pretty mediocre overall. Almost no headshoots neither with bow or melee (swords are very dependent on it to do some AP dmg).
You have crazy good map awareness, game knowledge and great moves. And those calls! Saved the game many times just via speaking!
Im not a person that enjoys spending time on youtube, but your content is always more than welcome. Keep up the great work!
