My mom absolutely loves this game. One of bestest 2p games out there. And at this point we think the Expansion to be essential, which is also awesome! Hope to see a review of it, too!
RedEyedGhost I didn't even know there was an expansion! I've been excited for this game for like 4 years since watching a rahdo run through of it. Nearly pulled the trigger on the non English version (German I think) several times
I love the game too, despite it not being very thematic. Looking forward to the English version of the expansion, which is apparently due early next year.
I always felt the "shifting sands" aspect of the theme comes through really well in this game because of the changing card types in the middle. The other aspects of the theme, less so.
It is a shame they didn't take the opportunity to have a look at the production/art with the reprint; but for the mechanics and gameplay, I couldn't recommend this game strongly enough. It still constantly hits the table.
Yep, I can completely agree with that perspective and the more people that get to play this one the better. Personally, mechanics are always my first concern but I know it can be a competitive market too, so I just hope aesthetics don't cause people to skip by this one, as that would be a real shame.
Concerning the expansion--do you keep the decks separate or mix them as prescribed in the expansion rules? I haven't played it enough to develop an opinion, but it seems like you've played it a lot. Thanks!
I might of played this game over 100 times. It’s not a game to master either, there is no strategy to perfect except how to place your display of tribes, but that’s really it.
The best 2p game ever designed in my book and top 10 worker placements still out there. I play this like 5x a year on the table and through Boardgamearena all the time. So if anybody out there wants to get whooped, look me up. SapoLJackson through there.
When you are explaining deploying of workers, you falsely claim that you can't deploy worker on a tile opposite to your other worker. But you can actually. You only can't deploy it on a tile opposite to your opponnent's worker. Yes, you will then have just one tribe token on the table.
Jakub Hricov The word “falsely” implies intent to deceive. This is not the case. Your meant “incorrectly.” Imprecise use of language bounces back on the user, not the target.
Great 2 players game, but there's a lot of situations that need an unfortunately better rulebook explaining the cards and a faq answering questions. On the graphic aspect, the artworks feels old, I hoped that a reprint improving those issues would see the day but unfortunately nothing happened and that latest version is still far from fixing that weak rulebook. Overall a great and tactical enough old style game and one of those 2players to be tried once in your boardgames life. At the end of the day, and regarding those ruling issue I sold my copy for some lighter and faster 2 players game that has no darken rules. Wish someday they address those with a proper rulebook instead of bgg
The box is fine actually (imo it's better than the German box), it's the components. I really don't like the drab look with the generic art on the cards. I know it's probably better for the playability, but still...
Gotta say the rulebook is terrible and it's very difficult to tell if you are playing correctly after you start putting down a bunch of rule-altering tribe cards.
It's not about "another culture". It's just that visually, it doesn't feel very interesting. It reminds me so much of the dull, over used trading in the Mediterranean sort of thing. You can't just throw down a blanket "it's another culture, ergo, it MUST be exciting".. No, that's not how things work.
For my money this is the best medium-light weight game for two players that I have played..

Awesome reprint news! Zee has be singing this game's praises for some time and I can finally try it out
Great review, Zee! I'm a big fan of Targi, and the designer Andreas Steiger, who's really active on FB.
So excited this is finally getting a reprint!
You are not alone! I wish they hadn't delayed the expansions english release though.

Finally got to play today for he first time! SOOOO glad they reprinted it...I love it and can’t wait to teach more people how to play...and enjoy 😊

I'm ok with them not relooking over the components since I got the game for $12. That's a steal compared to games these days.

I realy love love this game.
Greetings and respect from Frankfurt Germany 🍻
You can place a worker directly across from your own. You only place one village then

Into my collection
I love the look of this, but I can't help think that wooden components would have been better than card tokens.
Love that hat, Zee! Have you been to the Ruhrstadion?
Hi, do you recommend the expansion as well?

Any difference between the versions?

Anyone know when it's available in the UK,?
Mic James it's available at Chaos Cards and Rules of Play...
Fun game grab it
The game looks really fun and easy to play and understand. Too bad the theme is kinda bad.

@@rtmca1 thanks. My english is poor, but I try to improve it.

The game looks really ugly, but I want to play it!
The German version has a better box cover art. :(

This might be the best ugly game I've ever played.
Mechanically, this game looks really interesting. Thematically, it looks like a complete bore fest.
g8kpr3000 if you find other cultures boring, sure.

@@g8kpr3000 Damn. One of the most intense rebuttals I've seen in a YT board game comment section.
