Been dealing with this since I was first born and I’m 17 now. I’ve had a total of 36 ear tube surgeries which has taken a toll on my eardrum and permanently scarred it. My eardrum can no longer open or close and I am left with severe hearing loss while still frequently getting ear infections. I am hopefully going into surgery to completely rebuild by ear canals, but the surgery is high risk high reward. If the surgeons fail and hit some nerves, I will be completely paralyzed in parts of my face, on top of my ear still having a chance not to perform correctly. But if all goes well, this problem that I have been faced with will go away completely. Please send prayers for me and hope that I come out of this unharmed. Thank you for all that have read this.
Update: Hey, thanks to every single one of y’all who wished for my success and sent prayers my way. The surgery is done and I can hear way better than before. On top of that, I no longer have much pain or drainage anymore. It was a success and I’m thankful for everybody that left a positive comment and of course the amazing surgeons who made all this possible.

    Couple of tips:
DONT use cotton swabs as a plunger, they aren't made to clean deeply in your ear, only outside-ish and even then its not really recommended.
Always dry your ears softly with a clean towel if you get them wet.
Avoid using those ear phones that go deep into your ear.

I have the same problem for years, only had tubes when I was a child (26 now) and got them fall out when playing with my ears. While growing up now and then I experienced pain / hear loss because of fluids on the inside or outside part of my ear. I have learned that heat helps the clogging to 'smoothen', you can try to steam your clogged ear and valsalva maneuver now and then during the steaming.
Note, this is after you had the infection or cold. If you see blood or feel pain I don't know if this helps.
Fill a bowl with hot water (steaming, boiled)
Put a towel over your head
Look out to not burn your ear by avoiding contact with the water
Just keep your head above the bowl for as long as possible
    Valsalva maneuver
Put your head back above the bowl for as long as possible
    Valsalva maneuver
Repeat until you are done with this, you might have to repeat this several days

Excellent informative animation! Every time I get a cold I am guaranteed to get an ear infection. Been like that my entire life. Over the years I have become very familiar with the anatomy of the middle ear and Eustachian tubes and this was exactly what I imagine is going on up there every time I get an ear infection. I have become very good at controlling my Eustachian tubes with jaw movement techniques and negative pressure. Hearing my ears pop when they've been clogged up is such a relief!

Many surgeons who do these procedures all these times just recommend you to come back and try again no matter how many times it fails. There are better options out there than repeatedly failing systems. If surgeries aren’t working for you, go to different types of doctors and get opinions. After a long self assessment I found that my slouching and sudden lack of exercise or stretching for most of my childhood caused my muscles to not be fully utilized. I realized that this scrunching of muscles and tendons due to lack of use is what many people mistake for problems that need solutions aside from good consistent proper exercise. My lack of exercise caused every tendon, muscle and sinew to be too weak for me to properly use my body. My tightened sinuses, eustachian tubes and lungs were caused by the muscles and tendons that support them becoming weaker. So now that I’m getting help from these atypical types of doctors I’m getting much better solutions than all the doctors who had me addressing my symptoms instead of my real problems.

I was diagnosed with ETD the other week. My symptoms started early Aug. I feel vibrating mainly in my right ear. When it started, it only happened occasionally and got better, but it got worse a few weeks later, so i went to see a doc, she prescribed generic flonase, some nasal saline spray, and sudafed. Flonase isn't helping, so I'm back to using my drugstore bought nasal saline spray. Gonna try sudafed tomorrow. My vibrating is worse at night (because everything is so quiet), no pain, but sometimes i get dizzy/headaches. I could pop my ears easily, but this vibration noise keeps me up at night, so plugging my ears with ear plugs helps a bit so i could at least get some sleep 😢 I pray every night. May everyone experiencing any ear problems be healed 🙏

My ears are going through the same thing! Left ear 👂🏾 is clogged! Sounds like I'm hearing ringing. Right ear, I have to tug at it so I can hear clearly. When I bend down or lay down it feels very clogged. When i talk it sounds like I'm talking in my head. Amazing enough I can the timer from the stove when I'm in the living room. abyss104 well, I finally visited an ENT, that was an adventure! The doctor did flawless work, but the dizzy spells kicked my butt! He used a device which blew air and water in my ear. I could hear the suction of the wax being removed from ear. Everything was good, then slowly the room started spinning. It wasn't bad at first, then it felt like if I got up, I would hit the floor! When he was done my right ear, he did the same with the left ear. Once again the same feeling! My mom said I should've told him I was having dizzy spells. Granted, I should've, but I just wanted to lay there peacefully. Then I started to become nauseated, it was a mess! But I can hear my neighbor fart two blocks down....lol.

    • @abyss104
      @abyss104 7 років тому +13

Ok, if you can hear well now after that procedure, then maybe it was a wax. My ear was blocked due to a very terrible respiration infection. I think I actually had pneumonia. Chest and throat was congestion. After a month, I started to feel better, but I notice my was still blocked. Right ear. Lost hearing in that ear and everything. I went to an Urgent care doctor and they saw that my right ear was impacted with wax. They irrigated the right ear with hydrogen peroxide and they also blew water in my ear too. It relieved some of the pressure my ear was still blocked. I had never felt so miserable in my life. 8 long week. Now that my ears are better, I want to take supplements that help with my ears so I can keep them healthy. Omega 3's is good for inflammation and prevents the excess of the ear wax. I am happy you feel better.

put over your ear so that the top of bottle goes to the ear hole. gently squeeze so that the steam goes into the ear. repeatedly do this, and refill with hotter water if necessary.
be careful not to spill on yourself, and also not to get boiling water in your ears. helped me out, after suffering with congestion in ears for over 3 weeks.

Previously had clogged ear due to wax that needed an ENT assistant to manually take out of my ears... yeep. I haven't used q-tips in years but they said they found a fuzzy from a q-tip in there 😱😱. After that, I use Debrox as they recommended to me, but sometimes it doesn't all flush out and causes clogging on its own. I might try again to pour some rubbing alcohol down there because that can help dry things out. In this case I doubt the ear popping will help since i assume the issue is in the ear canal, not the inner ear, but yawning might not hurt

My tube opens and stays open when I have not had enough drink. I can hear my breathing and voice. I'm not sure if there has been a back "back flow", but one of my ears responds to sound impulses of moderate spl such hands clapping with an open/close sensation, and occasionally a high pitched tone. I've had this for 7 to 10 years. This prevents me from hearing accurately the character of the sound impulse.
Seems like a strange design to connect the ear to a throat full of bacteria and gunk.

I do have drainage. I can do this breathing thing where I hear air going right up to the tempanic membrane (patulous ET) - at the same time it feels clogged. I can blow my nose and pop the tempanic membrane. 🤨

I bought an ear scope camera a few years ago because i used to have tons of intense ear infections when i was a kid. The final ear infection i ever had around age 12 was so bad i woke up screaming and something inside my ear felt like it exploded, a tiny bit of blood flew out of my ear and hit the wall thats how violent it was. Anyways it took a few years for the deafness to lessen tho it never fully went away. I knew there was fluid trapped because when i lean forward far enough to shift the fluid my full hearing would return for that moment.Things healed up and now i’m 28.. i took a look with the scope and one ear looks normal but the one that exploded looks red like 1:24.
To this day, i have a 50/50 chance every time i blow a badly blocked nose that my left ear will pop and leave me incredibly dizzy for a half hour
