So important you are mentioning not setting yourself up for carpal tunnel! I have it, due mostly to playing the flute for hours a day. I began learning guitar and had to give it up because it aggravated the carpal tunnel. During quarantine I took up uke as a gateway back to guitar (I hoped). Anyway, I found that I love the ukulele itself, but also, after learning a bit more about playing position and ergonomics can play the guitar without aggravating the carpal tunnel too much. You are saving people hours of pain and frustration if they listen to what you're saying.
Yes!! It is definitely possible to play the guitar with the right positioning and tools. I found this new plastic suction holder that prompts the instrument up. I'm going to test it out and see if it helps hold the instrument in a way that saves wrists :)
I do not think I have carpal tunnel.
But, both thumbs hurt a bit. I think it is from (left hand) holding my cell phone
combined with strain of pressing left
thumb on back of Ukulele's neck to play chords. I have been playing ukulele for only 3 months. Right thumb strain, not sure. Could it be strumming? I use my
index finger mostly to strum.
@@phyllismorris94 That thumb on the back shouldn't be pressing, so much as just holding it. If you're pressing hard, like when you're concentrating or working on a chord that's difficult for you, you might be causing it to hurt. I don't think strumming would make it hurt, unless again, you are holding unusual tension there. Try relaxing your hand, but if it doesn't go away, maybe get it checked out. Good luck!
I am blown away by your teaching. Thank you so much!
Thank you, Daniele ❤❤ You are so sweet. I hope this helped!
Thanks for breaking down the E chord and explaining it all so well.
Thank you so much for the sweet comment. Do you have a channel? I like your display name :) ❤

You are simply amazing with the way you teach and how you present yourself overall. I am blessed I found you. Don't have a Uke yet as I am still bouncing around on what I want to play its between the Uke, Mandolin or Banjo. Thus watching lots of vids and lessons from multiple people for each. thank you so much for the time you invest doing these vids.
Here comes the brilliance of your teaching! We go back to the beginning, break it down and do it right this time. Here's to not being afraid of any chord!💪💪💪🥰🥰🥰
Thank you, Eirini ❤ you are always so supportive of my posts :)

So excited for this. The song I really want to learn has a lot of E chord, and I've been really struggling. Can't wait to give this a go!
Thank you, Mac! Which song did you want to learn? ❤
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic Yellow by Coldplay. The song has a special meaning to me.
Yes, this felt doable
Thank you
Thank you so much for the comment, AR! ❤
My question for you is? "How did I get the E chord sooo Easily?" Ha! Thank you for your teaching's
That's great!! E chord is so challenging because it uses all 5 fingers in an awkward position!
EZ Peazy so far. Looking forward to day 2!
Thank you, Pieter! I love the spelling of your name :) ❤
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic you're most welcome. It came from an obit🤣😇
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic Thank you so much. It was actually inspired by an obit.😇

Thank you, Alex! ❤

xoxo Darya
Hi Darya! ❤ Loving the new profile pic. Your hair looks magical!
👍🏻☺️
❤❤
After first learning with my thumb behind the neck, I have now learned to play with the neck resting in my hand. I find that when I play with my thumb behind the neck, my wrist gets too bent the other way. 😞
Oh, Simon is your hand ok?
Have you tried using a strap? ❤
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic Why thanks for your concern. 🙂My hand is fine, but I'm worried about straining it in the long run. I've now bought a strap, will try it!
And thanks for this little series! E-chord!
I definitely wasnt able to keep my thumb in one place while switching between the chords. Thumb moved around a bit.
I don’t see the printable. Is it somewhere else?

Where are the free printables?
There is no way I can get the free printable. I have an e pad and no way to print stuff
Isn't Fmaj7 a 4 finger chord? Looked like you were using 2 fingers?
Hallo how
But your wrist is not straight...
Hi Leena! There will be some natural curving to the wrist. The point is to try to avoid the shapes shown in 3:09 ❤
There is NO. FREE. PRINTIBLE DOWN BELOW HERE
