I love your natural style, puts me at ease straight away and you get the pace just right for beginners like me. Now I can chuck! Thank you ( needs a bit of practice obviously 😜)
Thanks for this video! I'm just getting back into playing my ukulele after an extended "vacation", so this really helps get me fired up and in the mood to play! Have a great day! 😊
Brazilian fellow teacher watching here 🙋🏽♀️! Love love love your videos, lessons and your calm vibe. You're an amazing teacher! Thanks so much, tchau!
Ahhh so that's how it is done. 👍. Thank You! Loved the chilled, visual (marker pen), sequenced, step by step approach. Gives me half a chance of success. ✊😉👍♥️
this is an awesome first video! I went from not knowing how to chuck to following the pattern in just a few minutes! thank you, so easy and clear to follow your instructions!
An excellent lesson, Bernadette. I've never been happy with my chucking. Your tip to play over the fret board rather than sound hole helped a lot. A big thank you from Slovakia.
Brand new, can't stop watching you. Started a few days before I got my instrument. Started with learn to play in an hour then went to 30 day Ukulele challenge. Sometimes I am now playing with videos( I have had instrument for 2 days) some times just watching as I do housework. You are a great teacher.
Bernadette, thank you so much for your expert teaching. I have been sharing your videos with my primary school students and we are finding them so so helpful! You are amazing!
This was the best for learning the chuck which I have really struggled with. Gonna keep working at this from your instructions which was great. Thank you so much.
I was having a difficult time with the chuck and as soon as I found your video , I was amazed that I kept up and was so relaxed making music.. Thank you so much. I am looking forward to see what you have next for me to learn... Thank you again.
Thank you, watching from France. I started the Ukulele recently but I’ve been playing guitar for a few years. It so much fun and you’re a great teacher. So I joined the Patreon community to support the channel
This was the third how to chuck video I watched and by far the BEST (for helping me learn at least 🤷🏼♀️)! I love Bernadette and just signed up for the Patreon 🙌🏼 Thank you!
I’ve been watching all your videos and i love how you teach. I’m still having trouble strumming and chucking. I need to just make more time to practice. Thank you for the great lessons
Thank you! I’m practicing. The obstacle I’m having is hitting the cuticle on my first finger when I chuck. A painful reminder to learn the right angle for that finger!
Thank you so much, this was a really good lesson. I want to thank you in advance, you’re going to teach me how to chuck 😊 Thanks for what you do. Watching you from BC, Canada ❤
At 9:37 when you were suggesting constant practice, you were muting both the down and up strokes. You video is excellent and I can chuck the down strokes but I can't seem to figure out how to mute the up ones.
Many thanks for this video, I’ve been playing for three years now and I’m pretty proficient, but I’ve never cracked muting despite trying several times. Watching this I seem to have found something much more successful and reliable, so maybe I can do it…
Been binge watching your channel today and literally NEEDED a chucking video. Watched your older one. But damn, the Divine timing on this one.. thank you so much for your time, and energy!! ✨️🫶
Nice video but I struggle to chuck on the upstroke. The downstroke was demonstrated beautifully but lost me on the upstroke. I wish the pattern letters were higher so I could see them when the video is paused.
Thank you so much for the feedback on the text placement! I’ll be more careful in future videos for sure. About the upstroke… If you look at your index fingernail, not the fleshy part next to the nail, that’s what I use to do an upstroke.
Hi Bernadette! In our uke club it recently came up that some of our members couldn’t chuck as they tended to primarily strum with their thumb….I strum with my pointer finger as I learnt that from you but any suggestions for those who strum with the fleshy part of their thumbs?
I had a question, I am currently going through the 30 day ukulele challenge and I'm having a little trouble with my strum being consistent. Some times it's softer and sometimes harder. Do you have any tips and also what is your opinio/take on felt ukulele picks? Thanks!
I really struggle upstrumming when I use my index finger to do the down strum, but when I dowmstrum with my thumb then index it works fine, what do I need to do for that
Guitar background here learning ukulele. I've found it helps to slightly rotate the wrist as you're strumming so that your thumb is at more of an angle on the way up. Then rotate into the same angle going the other way with your index. Think like a small rocking with your strumming hand like a saw.
Omg whenever you said "look up" my head snapped up. Like you were in the room 🤣👏
Came here to say exactly this.
You make this all seem so easy and playful, that takes a lot of the stress out and makes it so much more fun!
I love your natural style, puts me at ease straight away and you get the pace just right for beginners like me. Now I can chuck! Thank you ( needs a bit of practice obviously 😜)
thank you for your patience Ms Bernadette.
My first day touching a ukulele and I just did the chuck and mute. Thank you from Oden, Arkansas, USA
1:32 This is absolutely impossible because you are breathtaking, teacher. 😜

Sounds good in the song you demonstrate
Without doubt the best vid on this topic. Thanks for sharing your skills!
Thank you! I’m practicing. The obstacle I’m having is hitting the cuticle on my first finger when I chuck. A painful reminder to learn the right angle for that finger!
Thank you so much, I got a hang of it faster than I thought!

Good lesson 👍🏻🌺💖
You are awesome, thank you 🙏
Thanks a lot for all this great content!!! Comment left from Indy :) haha
When I chunk, I do it over the soundhole and it sounds like a cough 😬. Thanks for pointing out the fretboard position.
That was great, and you are lovely x
hi from Turkey
Can you do a video on muting or chuking in the guitar?
Can u teach us how to finger pick yiruma's kiss the rain on uke

About the upstroke… If you look at your index fingernail, not the fleshy part next to the nail, that’s what I use to do an upstroke.
Let me know if you’d like me to do a video dedicated to the upstroke because this is a very common question
Fantastic!👏👏💯💯🎶💚🤗☘️

Your Uku is so beautiful, where can we get it ? His not on your website and I don't find him on Internet 😢😢

Very difficult as I'm trying on the guitar with a Pick?
