I played from 2014 to 2019, and I remember the 2015-2017 peak to this day, such a great time on the server.

the most surprising thing was really that there wasn't even a proper sendoff for it. It literally was just that one day you couldn't connect to the servers anymore, and it disappeared from the Bedrock featured server list without any warning.
Yeah. It seemed inevitable that it would shut down, but how sudden it was is the real surprise.
They couldn't do a proper sendoff, none of the queues were working. You literally couldn't play any games on it.

Haven't played Minecraft like that in several years, but this really stings. Mineplex was my most played and favorite server when I was a kid. Some of my fondest memories with Minecraft were in Mineplex. RIP. Thank you for being a major part of my childhood.

@dabruh1552 Naah, not easy at all. Then, you run into the issue of actually filling the servers with players-- something they've been unable to do for years now.

I know this is going to be buried, but I just wanted to say you were the first UA-camr I ever watched more than one video of jardon. My friend showed me your videos back in 2013-2014 about modded survival and whatever else you were doing that I’ve forgotten. I absolutely loved your hunger games videos and watched every single one of them. I remember you would always start with “in a world…” or something like that, and it made me super excited. Me and my friend used to call on our landlines, making our parents phone bill skyrocket 😂.
I eventually stopped playing mineplex and moved on to cubecraft eggwars, then hypixel skywars & bedwars, and now I mainly play hypixel skyblock. I also stopped watching your videos for a while. The I remembered about the troll craft videos with crainer and ssundee, and rewatched them all. Then I continued to watch ur new videos.
I know this isn’t much but it’s more a chance for me to say thank you so much for all the good times you gave me throughout the years. Thank you, and rip mineplex

In the early years, the big 3 servers had their own big Minecraft content creator sponsor partner.
Mineplex had you, Jardon, CaptainSparklez, Hipixel had Tom, Syndicate, and The Hive had, Pat, PopularMMOs.
I found each server through each of their videos, and man were those good times, when they would each make their own competitively skilled based content around the mini games on the respective servers.
I was part of the staff team of Mineplex for a short period of time in 2020 - 2021 and was a player on mineplex since 2014 this definitely stings to see it shutdown but there were numerous times where mineplex could have fixed itself and turned to the better but they failed every time. Eula situation deff was of the the first big obstacles that Mineplex faced at the time it was really difficult to gage and that is understandable, but even in recent times the owners of the server never involved them self to do anything with the community making the whole community in itself feel like they were only doing it for the money and didn't care about the player base or the server. Which I think was the biggest reasons for Mineplex's downfall, there are many other reasons which I wont get into but the staff team as wholesome as they seem from the outside, and efficient it looked, it was a whole diffrent story when you actual become staff. There were constant drama, fights and abuse of power going on within the staff team. Last thing I am going to touch upon is the lack of ideas... There was 0 new content they were creating at Mineplex it was the same 4 events they had every year with the same recycled maps and hoping for the best. They even got a saving grace on 2020 when there was a huge player surge because of COVID, but it wasn't a player surge that would last too long which turned into the demise of Mineplex. I am 100% going to miss Mineplex and all the memories that I have made on that server and all the people I have met on that server but this was a long time coming and I am surprised that it took this long for them to shut it down to be honest.

That gives a lot of context imo. Nothing new every time I log on, with months in between, and any updates or teased stuff was never completed.
It needed updates and proper attention, but it just never came.
Had a friend who was an ex-manager and he would always tell us about the crazy dramas that were going on in the staff team, I understood why it was dying
It’s a shame the owners couldn’t have been replaced. Mineplex was the last decent minigame server out there. Hypixel is full of people who take the games way too seriously and makes casual playing pretty much impossible. That was never an issue over my many years of playing on Mineplex up until even last week I was on.
It’s a shame. The optimist in myself wants to believe that this even will cause an ownership change and maybe the server will relaunch but that’s just speculation.
There’s also just the fact that Minigames aren’t as popular on Java edition as they once were unfortunately. Personally I think that’s because players have made them so competitive.
It was a fun ride. RIP Mineplex, 2013 (2014 when I got Java edition and started playing) - 2023. You were great.

I will never forget Mineplex. I used to play on it all the time in elementary school, and I won a rank via chest and made my siblings so jealous my mom had to buy ranks for both of them so they didn’t feel left out. I logged back into it like a year ago just to see how the server was doing, and I still have my rank, my pets, my morphs, my mounts, everything. Frozen in time. I’m a college student now, and seeing the server down knowing I’ll never get that back makes me sad. But it had an amazing run. RIP Mineplex, you guys were the OGs. o7
I remember coming home after elementary school logging on to this wonderful server and playing Super Smash Mobs! Crazy to think I'm almost done with college now, man. It truly hurts me to see that it's shutting down, millions of memories over the years. I will forever miss this server and it will always hold a special place in my heart. RIP Mineplex :(

Man, tons of memories just came flooding back. Mineplex was the cornerstone of Minecraft before the Hypixel monopoly came around. It was a great time and a great server.
TBH i don't miss mineplex, Hypixel does everything better

@@SMCwasTaken it's not about doing it better, Mineplex simply had great games and ideas, I would still play today if I had players to compete with in a SSM match. They fell because they couldn't keep up with the players, the cheaters were everywhere and they didn't have a dev team big enough to keep every minigame updated. Also their staff (mods and helpers) were kids... It's not a good ideea to give power to random kids on such a big server, cause there are a lot of fair players but there will always be a few who will make problems, especially around 14-16 years.
Very true about the maintenance that a server requires. I used to own a Minecraft server of some 20-30 average players by the end of it, from 2012 to 2015. It was an amazing feeling, but very taxing. I could only do it while I was in junior high while my studies were not as demanding as they would later be. I still have videos from that server on my channel even though I haven't recorded anything in 8 years.
I often think about starting it all again, but the amount of plugin configuration, constant striving for perfection, more content, interactions with players, it can get overwhelming and draining. Not to mention the update procedure from version to version. My server died after updating from 1.7 to 1.8, due to it being a much bigger jump, lots of new things were added and it wasn't as simple to upgrade.
But at least memories remain. I even ended up writing a short book about all my doings back then, so that I can never forget it :)
Me being a admin on a very popular Minecraft server 7 years ago directly lead me to getting my degree in computer science and becoming a full stack computer engineer. So Minecraft server developing will forever have a place in my heart.
I came to revisit your content to see if you were still uploading as you were my childhood. And I come across this video to have both so many memories of mineplex and how much you pleased my younger self, and its honestly making me tear up. Im glad your doing well man!

It's insane to think about how Wynncraft is still going strong after all this time with very rare updates and almost no big content creators making videos about it

Wynncraft has the power of playtime behind it. While you can hop on a minigame server for a hour, wynn sucks you in for days. And usually you choose to buy ranks if you're on regularly.

Something worth pointing out is that prior to this, we got absolutely nothing to celebrate the server's tenth birthday, and prior to the shutdown, no warning from our "friends," the owners, that this would be happening. I had no idea that when I logged on to claim my daily reward and sift through my missions a few days prior, that I'd never be doing so again.
Regardless-rest in spaghetti, never forgetti.

It definitely dwindled over the years. The last time I saw it (around a year ago), there were only about 2000-4000 players online, a far cry from what it used to be

I can't recall playing in Mineplex, so I don't have much to share on this topic. I feel bad to see so many people lose a server they loved back in the days.
But I do have something I'd like to share: it's killing me how this kind of thumbnail (Captain with the green screen behind) had become kinda of iconic? It started off as bad news, then the first video did so well that he followed up with the same format, and now to me it just means... Captain has something to share? Could be anything, news related to Minecraft, or his life, or his videos. It's sort of like a short podcast episode to listen to and absorb random bits of knowledge?
Which is why I get drawn to these so much more... anyway, thank you for keeping us updated, and for playing Minecraft ^w^ keep it up!

Wanted to say thank you to you Jordan! You were not only the first person I watched on UA-cam in 2014, but the first person I ever saw playing on Mineplex. I will forever cherish the memories I have from watching your videos and playing on this server with my friends and family.
I have not played minecraft unfortunately for a couple years… I’ve stayed updated though throughout 2017-2023 and would play if i could… Mineplex was a massive part of my childhood and a main server that helped me meet many friends and find myself as a person. I will forever be thankful to the creators and admins of the server and I surely will never forget it nor my time spent on it!

@@Guy7338 unfortunately i was in a rough spot and still kind of am i work everyday 40-50 hours a week and i still need to save up for a decent PC its hard while paying bills tbh life hits way harder than any of us expect it to i miss the days i could sit down on a pc without a care in the world if i could i would 😅
@@MeowATron like it will be fully gone? thankfully i migrated my 2012 legacy account to microsoft and it seems to work fine. I rarely play but i played a bit in the last couple weeks to make sure i could log in and stuff lol. i just like to be able to say i have a 10 year old account :p

Mineplex's was truly the blueprint for so much. So many hours spent on that server as a kid, especially on Death Tag or it's Christmas Event. So sad to hear its gone :( RIP Mineplex
As soon as I heard the news, I came right to the channel, I knew you’d pay tribute to it in some way shape or form, thank you man. A lot of us grew up watching you play on that server.
I loved this server so much. I had made so many online friends during my time playing (2014-2020) and I would still log on every month or so until it finally went offline. it's a bittersweet thing, as I have an abundance of fond memories on the server, but i'm also glad the devs won't have to do any more unpaid work. the 5v5 pvp, dragon escape, block hunt, minestrike, skywars... so many memories all came flooding back to me watching this video. I also remember watching your videos constantly from a very young age jordan, and if i'm being honest, when i got older and even during quarantine, I would watch your videos as a source of comfort because they just have such a pleasant energy in my mind. I remember encountering hackers in almost every minigame back in 2018/2019, which made me lose interest really quickly. The captain’s hunger games videos were my childhood, and seeing the server being overrun with hackers really killed the vibe, which I believe contributed to this slow but inevitable downfall
The staff team didn't help a thing either. Very poor management, very toxic people. Having been one of them, of course. Not just talking out of my ass
I was super active in the Mineplex community up until around 2019. The biggest issue was lack of communication with upper management. There were severe issues with lack of communication and the owners seemed to become very very hands off after the EULA issue (treating it like just a source of passive income). I didn’t use to love Hypixel, but their commitment to frequent updates and amazing community engagement will keep them going into the future.
Man, I haven't played on Mineplex in YEARS, but the Cap was the one who got me to play it. I was one of the kids who would get on and play hoping to MAYBE, just maybe see the Captain online at the same time as me, but alas.
RIP Mineplex. You might not have been the best of the best, but you sure as heck were an important player for a lot of people.
Tbh, I only really watch these talking vlogs now. Back in 2015, your SG videos got to Mineplex and eventually got me interested in Dominate, and from there my whole life path basically got changed. Crazy to see it go, but it was due for a while. Glad you were apart of getting it off the ground. Thank you
I was a mod on Mineplex from 2014-2016. Some great memories there. Sad to see it go. Still came back for Christmas Chaos every year.
Phew. Thanks to your introduction back then, Mineplex became a bit of an escape after school in 2014-15. And I'd continued playing on it afterward. It definitely became a good chunk of my Minecraft experience. My tag's GuardianGarrett. I almost exclusively played Block Hunt and loved it. For a minigame it was oddly competitive, toxic even with how seriously the hiders would take games and how much pride was involved, but I loved playing as a Hunter. That and just hanging around on the server was nice. I'd even desired to become a Trainee and Mod at one point, but didn't end up following through.
I did play some last year, but it became harder and harder to find games. I'm not surprised it's finally closing down. Due to tech stuff beyond my understanding I hadn't been able to hop on recently. Wish I'd managed to get a final game or two in. Thanks for the fun o7

Mineplex was my childhood. I spent many hours playing on that server back in the 2014-2015 days. Many of my most popular videos on my legacy channel were Mineplex videos. It's been a fun time, but in reality, all good things must come to an end. R.I.P Mineplex. We will all miss you!
Your hunger games videos back in the day are legit what i watched as a kid. Being almost 27 now and hearing this is taking me back.
Never really played mineplex, but those hunger games videos where what brought me to watch the captains videos in the first place which lead to years of happiness so it will always hold a place in my heart. crazy to think i was only 9 at the time and now im heading of to uni. I love how almost everyone that watches his videos r in the same boat aswell
I always remember being happy to do the Halloween event, trying to get farther then I did last time, sometimes lagging but it was still fun, super smash mobs, survival games and much more, you will be missed Mineplex.
yeah i loved the halloween event was so much fun. I was so annoyed when they replaced the old Halloween event with the four player puzzle game.
Not only was Mineplex my first and favorite server, it’s also mainly responsible for me still having the same online friend group since about 2016. Rip Mineplex, it seriously was the top tier server in its time

in response to what you said at 10:43 in the video, yeah. In 2014 I found your video about mineplex and tried the server out. The time I spent for the following 4-5 years there was honestly priceless. I was able to discover a place that became a core element of my childhood for quite a while, and I am really grateful for that.
I remember watching a lot of your mineplex videos as they were coming out. I played on mineplex when it was at it’s peak. Sad to see it go, but it’s been on a long decline for a while.
Shoutout to Speed Builders, Bridges, all of the Mixed Arcade games, and the rest of the games. It was the first server that I really played and I’m going to miss it forever
I remember getting Minecraft and playing with my siblings on Mineplex. This hits really hard because this server was one of the first I played and now it’s gone.

SO many mineplex minigames were so fun, and having a friend with titan rank who hosted private lobbies with a few of my friends were some of the best memories i have playing minecraft. Will forever remember wizards, dragon escape, microbattles, super paintball, and every other minigame. RIP MINEPLEX :(((

My god, looking back when I used to watch your hunger games videos (being 15 at the time) brought back so many memories. From time to time I would actually still watch a few, and remember when you stopped making them. Little did I know, one day I would just stop watching Minecraft videos and stop playing the game, after dedicating hours to watching videos and playing bridges, hunger games, and even turf wars. Time flies, enjoy it.
Dude I remember genuinely having fun on that server YEARS ago. I miss those days. That was the first ever server I played on. And the most memories of any server I've EVER played on to this day. My older brothers who are both now in college played it in like 2013 - 2014 and that's the exact reason I started Minecraft. Was because of them and because of that server. I can't even tell you how much Mineplex meant to me back then and even now. I'm so sad to see it gone but I remember and cherish all of the amazing memories I made on it. R.I.P Mineplex you literally forever will always be my favorite Minecraft server. Hypixel is nice and all but Mineplex just makes me feel happy and carefree and cozy. I can't express how much I loved Mineplex and hearing it's gone is heartbreaking.
I woke up to this at 5am, couldn’t sleep again, checked my phone at 6 and saw this, I can only say that Mineplex was a server where many thousands including me played on that server. RIP mineplex 2013-2023, you had a good run :(
I remember discovering Mineplex through your channel and thinking you were the owner of it. Named it something like "CaptainSparklez" on my server list. Used to play it all the time and was pretty much what I played every day on Minecraft for a long time. Gone but never forgotten. 😔
It's so interesting to see a dude my age talk about Minecraft. Looking it up on youtube, reddit, wherever seems like a totally different world these days. I saw this and your video on MrBeast talking about how much you made back in the day and it's nice to hear about things from your perspective. Appreciate it mate.

This is heartbreaking. I have so many good memories associated with Mineplex, and now they are just gone…. I remember playing it with my friends on a phone bedrock edition. It was so fun playing bed wars or cake wars with friends. R.I.P Mineplex, you will be always in my heart. I hope you will comeback someday…. 😢
I have to agree with you on this, "Mineplex" was a major impact on my life throughout my childhood and I am glad to see it impacted just as many people as I thought it might, this game has had negative impacts on some bugs, yet nothing the staff couldn't fix within a day, the first time I saw the servers down I figured they were just resetting the server to fix some again, (like every week) Then when I saw the post I got a little sad and disappointed, we all knew this was coming, thank you Mineplex and the community for making this game a fun, compassionate, exciting, thrilling, competitive game, my favorite thing about Mineplex could have been clans or DOM, it was sad to see CTF go down nearly 3 years after the release BUT was great, I hope this finds the staff well as I would like to acknowledge their hard grateful and respected work. I am very grateful and in debt for your help...

I sadly dont remember a lot from the server, I did have some memories from playing with very old friends, sadly those memories are fading too. Rip, Mineplex, I don't remember you quite well, but I know i had fun playing back in the day. Rest easy
I personally find it very sad because of the great times I had on it many years ago, but if you were to log on near the last days you would have seen that it was unrecognizable from its heyday.
Wow I did not expect to see this. I didn't really play on Mineplex, but it's definitely sad to see it go. Especially without any announcement. I remember seeing videos of people playing on Mineplex years ago.

Somebody really needs to reimplement some of the games that mineplex had, especially Block Hunt, Bridges, Dragon Escape, etc. The thing about Mineplex that I always liked was that many of their games felt a lot smoother than Hypixel's, and their take on Block Hunt was insanely fun to play, and unfortunately there's now no servers that I know of that have anything that really matches it.
rip mineplex.. it’s always so sad to go back on the older servers I used to frequent where the user base were higher than they are now and see that the things I used to play are just gone and that there’s barely anyone to play with… sure there are big servers that have most of the mini games and even more but some things were just so much more well known on mineplex and other servers. 2013/2014 was such a good time for me personally and mineplex was a big part of that especially with friends. was a good run man and nothing beat tuning in to a new survival games video from captain after school

I haven't watched this channel in a long time. Just found out about the news and I remember watching your Mineplex videos regularly.
This one stings. While I was never able to play on the server in its prime, I did see what fun it was before I was able to get a MC account and play for myself. I ended up watching the playerbase dwindle, and even I stopped coming to the server after 2020. A very well-known server, especially one as popular as Mineplex, did not deserve to wither like this.
What a shame it all is...

damn thats kinda sad, but honestly not unexpected. i remember watching your videos and tons of other youtubers playing minigames on this server (especially hunger games) as a child wishing i could play minecraft myself. core memories back then but im glad i lived through the peak of minecraft and minecraft content, at least in my opinion.
You and Mineplex have always been interconnected in my mind. Your hunger games videos are an amazing part of my childhood and its sad to see mineplex go :/

Man, I remember jumping on Mineplex with my older cousin when I was 7? The water teleportation portals back in the day blew me away after playing in vanilla 1.5.2.
I haven't thought about that server for years now but watching this brought back so many childhood memories playing it with my brothers damn
