  • I was fortunate enough to review what may be the best Executive level high-performance daily. The car absolutely blew me away with performance, quality and design. Of course, like everything in this world it has some minor aspects that I find less appealing to me, but the overall package left a very positive impression on me! Have a look yourself!

It is a great car but I feel they've pushed the brand pricing way out there. 160k+ for not even a full spec on this specific model (no CCBs, sound system etc) does not make sense unless you're a Porsche purist imo. You can get a full specced M5 for less (yes not a hybrid but an equally amazing and sporty saloon car). I was actually considering a Panamera before I purchased an M5 F90 and their pricing structure put me off entirely.
Great review all in all, keep them coming, I really enjoy this in-depth real life usage type of content you're doing.

Happy to hear that you liked the car Misha! I’ve ordered one and is expected to receive it in April. First I test drove the base model 4. Was pretty impressed by it since I’m driving a X5 30d. However when I jumped into the 4E hybrid I immediately told myself that I needed the hybrid version. IMO it’s supposed to be called the 4S E-hybrid since it’s waaayyyy faster than the base model, 4. Don’t think there is another hybrid car in the market that is actually focusing on boosting the power output rather than just “saving” fuel. Also as you said. A lot of “sport” sedans aren’t even sporty. Like the bmw 740E, when you put it in sports mode it’s still soft and wabbles around corners. Also I believe the PDK gearbox makes a big difference as well as you do feel it shift like a real sports car. Love it !

Misha, to track forward and back, press the center scroll wheel (the one that looks like it should be a volume knob but isn’t) sideways. Terrible layout. And you cannot access your preset list from the steering wheel. Massive fail. That volume roller is stupid and poorly placed. Agree with you on the vent. Horrible. The cupholders aren’t bad Not as cool as the pull out ones but try fitting anything in those pull out ones. They are terrible.

Great review Misha, think the best and most honest ive seen. As a 2018 ehybrid owner you really nailed it. I also have problems with the charge point flap. Sometimes takes 5 or 6 presses to open. As you said the finger prints really dont show up unless you happen to be at a certain angle to the sun. Once your used to the touch screen and haptic buttons they are pretty easy. The performance is amazing for such a big car and the economy really good. I love it in electric but then when i want to play I've got that V6. To me it does everything, its a family car, a daily commute and a toy.
As you said the ehybrid is a no brainer. For me it was 100% deductible against tax in the first year. Although our government have now changed that and reduced the C02 figure.
I couldn't find another car to compare it to and still can't.
I may be stuck with a Panamera and have to change it for another one. Its a hard life😂

    Hey great video, thank you!
Although in my opinion you're being waaay too picky on that track changing. Once your media screen is up (which normally is anyways) you learn to push that "back button" without looking at it.
You also forgot the IR vision display, which I believe this car should have. Great feature for that type of car.
All in all, great "stationary" review, but I'd love to see the car in action even and especially on public roads. Thank you for your content!

I understand your frustration in trying to get the charging hatch open - I was frustrated too when I got my 2018 Hybrid. It turns out that Porsche has a fix for it because some of the hatches just were difficult to operate. My dealer replaced the hatch and now it works fine.
Regarding not having an internal button to open the hatch like the gas filling hatch. At first I thought Porsche was being cheap by not having a button for both but now I understand why. When you refill the gas you are always driving up to the gas station and you are already inside the car and can easily press the button. However when I am in my garage I am often outside the car and want to open the hatch to plug it in, By just pressing on the hatch I can open it without first having to open the car door and then press an internal button. Of course, perhaps the best solution is to provide both and inside button and the ability to just press on the hatch.

Agree on the absence of a back button for media tracks. Really annoys.
Key benefit of 971 hybrid over 970 is the ability to run the engine all the time if you want, and only use the hybrid drive when YOU want to, not only when the car allows as per 970.

Possible competitors: Volvo S90 (408hp hybrid, although more understatement and less sportiness). Same goes for the mentioned MB S560e. Also, not sure about Lexus Hybrids. And that's it! This is already a dying segment, as battery technology continues to evolve very rapidly. We will see 48V Hybrid systems everywhere very soon, but high voltage hybrids are going to disappear. After people from the performance divisions had their fun, of course.

Goed review, mooie foto's van Tom. Ik denk dat mensen die een Panamera rijden niet bij Ikea komen, dat doen om een of andere reden alleen UA-camrs.

I love the car. Really cool daily (if you have the cash laying around for it).

No sedan is better than the Porsche Panamera. My 2018 is a dream super car I get to drive daily.
