    for those in 1.19.3+ using the hopper method: to avoid items getting stuck in the hoppers, you need to move the top layer UP by ONE BLOCK so the redstone torch from the top layer does not touch the hopper below (locking items from moving). you do NOT need to move the chests in the top layer up; they can stay in the same spot, you will just need an additional hopper for each module to reach the chests. there might be an easier way to solve this, but this is what worked for me.

    2:15 Quick tip: If you dont want to leave 41 items in the first slot , you can add 11 filter items in the other four slots for the same effect. It sould leave 1 item in the first slot.
    This only works on modules with no others right next to them.

    • @Sam-vf5uc
      @Sam-vf5uc Рік тому +41

      I was about to say the same thing, although I usually leave 41 filler items in slot 2 then one item in the last three slots. It has worked for me with modules right next to each other. Its especially nice when you don't want to waste 41 netherite ingots.
      You can also let all the miscellaneous items feed into a chest at the end of the storage system, meaning all the unstackable ones.
      Personally I don't use sorting anymore because its just too laggy. Instead I might have sorters on auto farms so they're unloaded when I'm not near the farm.

    • @Ark-Confusion-One

      no and never, if the input speed is faster than the hopper speed. When too much item go into the filter, it will cause the signal that the comparator give out will be too strong and affect the ajacents modules. Using 41 items in the first slot will never break because the comparator give out a power-2 strength signal for 41 items and power-3 strength signal (which allows items to go through the hopper) for 42-64 items.

    I always use an alternating pattern with that sorting system because I like using water streams to transport items and as you metnioned it can cause the sorters nearby to break so when you alternate the pattern a bit with 2 additional blocks, nearby sorter tiles aren't affected anymore but it makes the build 1 block higer and reach 1 block farther into the back but at that small expense you can make it stable forever and overflow won't affect the sorting

    If you are having trouble with items getting stuck in the hoppers at the beginning with the water method you need to rearrange the water elevator so that it turns a corner before any items reach a hopper. This way the items are on the edge of the hoppers.

  • @yay_inc

    Quick note: 3.15 I found that in 1.19.3, you must build the two sorters directly on top of each other. Other wise, if you are connecting them with hoppers, the items will get stuck in the first hopper near a redstone torch.

      redstone is basically how computer works, u can do binary with it , thats how people do minecraft in minecraft without command blocks
      and i dont think that shulkercraft players are that good in redstone, they mostly just do insane and massive projects, but the redstone side is mostly from youtube

    Water paths work better if they are adjacent to the hoppers as opposed to on top. Just have the water stream bend before going to the sorters and make sure that wall is all homey blocks. If done correctly, the items will be partially over the hoppers in the water stream. By setting it up this way, it fixes 2 problems outlined here.
    1. You won't need a gap for the water streams.
    2. 16 stack items sort perfectly fine.

    • @Nikolouska314
      @Nikolouska314 Рік тому +5

      No because if your two chests are full then the system will overflow and break, you need 41 of the filtered item in the first slot and 1 1 1 1 of filter block to avoid this.

    Quick tip: Mumbo Jumbo has 2 mechanisms to sort unstackables: one with only redstone and a more recent one with allays. Just type unstackable sorter mumbo jumbo in the search box and it should pop up.
    Pro of the old design is it doesn't require allays, which are difficult to find, so it's alot simpler ti build. The downside is that it cannot distinguish between different kinds of unstackables (i.e. gold sword from chainmail chestplate), so you're limited to filtering stackables from unstackables only, and not sorting everything.
    Hope you find ut useful!

    Could you please make a video on how to feed from multiple farms into a sorter? Everyone's sorter video talks about how to sort a lot of items but not how to deal with colliding carts coming from multiple farms. I've built the sorter and it works great, but I have 6 farms making a mix of 15 produce. Trying to get a single chest minecart to stop at each farm and then to the sorter has totally stumped me.

    • @GameVegan
      @GameVegan Рік тому

      You need 6 cart unloaders and a series of 6 water inputs into the system. Imagine a HHH shape, with the middle being the main stream to the sorter and each leg being the input from each farm :)

    • @magarity1
      @magarity1 Рік тому

      @@GameVegan I worked out a system where each farm feeds into a hopper and a single chest minecart makes the rounds to each farm's hopper then ends up at the sorter. Activator rails switch the tracks so the chest cart bypasses all the farms on the way out, then on the way back it stops at each.

    with the water option: you don't need the space after 8 blocks. If u just use another way to stop the water and not the pressureplate. E.g. open fence gates or signs. They will not make a redstone output once an item is flowing through it, though making it possible for a no-gap-chest layout :)

      @@ChaineRubis jo thats right, but i usually dont go with the water exactly on top of thr hopper. I build a 2nd row of ice next to the hopper and aline the items perfetly. This way items travel really fast and u can work efficiently with the chest layout

Up till now I thought the opposite was true? Believe me, just the redstone alone makes the room laggy! Can yourself or someone reading confirm? I'll now continue the video....😌

    IMPROTANT: If you don't want 41 valuable diamonds (Or anything else) You can manually add more junk items and it will work perfectly fine, with less items stuck in the sorter. For instance, my sorting systems are formatted like so: (With the same redstone)
    For items stackable up to 64:
    2 of the item I am sorting
    40 junk items
    1 junk item
    1 junk item
    1 junk item
    For items stackable up to 16:
    2 of the item I am sorting
    31 junk
    1 junk
    1 junk
    1 junk
    For non-stackable it varies, but an allay sorting system guaranteed works for all non-stackable items. (If it's armor, you can use armor stands and a very sophisticated dispensing system, but it's really complicated, too much so to type. I think Raysworks has some designs. There are other ways to sort other unstackables, but again its complicated and unique per item.)

      This way it won’t be overflow protected

    • @Nikolouska314
      @Nikolouska314 Рік тому

      No because if your two chests are full then the system will overflow and break, you need 41 of the filtered item in the first slot and 1 1 1 1 of filter block to avoid this.
      You can use this for rare materials that you are unlikely to collect two chests of them. But otherwise don't :)

    I've seen a few different comments regarding the hopper method. I am currently struggling as the items get stuck in the lower level hopper under the redstone torch. Is the only way to fix this to build 2 blocks higher? Works great on the upper layer of sorters but the lower level get stuck!

  • @acb_gamez
    @acb_gamez Рік тому +2

    YOU DO NOT NEED TO PUT 41 good items in each sorter lol. Shows you clearly don't know what's happening. You just need the total to be 45. So put 44 of the sorter item in there (making sure all but one slot is filled in the hopper), and then put one of the item to be sorted in the final slot.
    The comparator is reading how full the hopper is, and the redstone torch is locking the hopper below that one. Once there are 46 items in there, the comparator outputs a signal strong enough (3) to trigger the repeater and disable the redstone torch, unlocking the hopper and allowing a single item to flow through the hopper thus bringing the item count back to 45 and re-locking the hopper below.

    P.S.: If you're using the hopper method to move items, you cant stack the sorters since the redstone torch on the second layer will lock the hopper right below it on the hopper moving the items on the first layer. Tested it out in a creative world. Any tips on how to solve this?
    Edit: FIGURED IT OUT! You know how he said to build the second layer of the redstone part one block higher? Well do that, then move the WHOLE SECOND LAYER (redstone & chests) up ONE more block. That prevented the redstone torch from locking the hopper. It was fun figuring that out
