I usually just add a body highlight node and a brightness+contrast node because I'm lazy and shading takes a while lol

This is awesome I’m not great with colors especially shading but this will definitely help.
I downloaded opentoons but I can’t get it to work I draw on the page but nothing shows up do you know how I can fix this?

I just think it is to make layers with colors according to the background and paint your character using the alpha opacity and I think it takes less time and without so many knots that the only thing they do is to confuse the artist.

Hey I cant find this answer any where but do you guys know if on opentoonz you can make the background transparent for an animation on opentoonz?

You mean adjusting the transparency of an entire column? There is a transparency node. Just plug that in and you can adjust the transparency of that entire column. You can even keyframe it so the transparency can change throughout the animation.

When trying to follow your second method none of my FX nodes seem to work at all. My block of shading doesn't mask to my characters colours and even the multiply doesnt work at all. Is there a reason for this? Its my first time using a node graph in Opentoonz :(
