  • Our scored review of Camp Boomerang RV Park and Campground , an all-male (gay/bisexual/transgender) campground/resort in central Michigan.
    **************
Opening for their inaugural season in 2021, this campground has seen more than its share of controversy. In February 2021, in answering a question about whether they would allow trans men to be members, the owners answered in a way that was... less than ideal; and they are the first ones to tell you that. For several weeks, LGBT (and even mainstream) media covered the story all around the world. The owners chose to remain mostly silent during the maelstrom.
Following this controversy, we had chosen to remove Boomerang from our 2021 review tour (which was still in the planning stages) as a show of solidarity with our trans brothers. Our thinking was that while Boomerang was free to make whatever rules they chose, we were just as free not to go.
We changed our mind following several conversations with the owners in the spring, during which they clarified that trans men ARE allowed at Boomerang as long as they have a government ID that states they are male. This policy mirrors that of many other all-male campgrounds around the country. As for what they said in February, we chose to take them at their word that they regret what they said/how they said it and that they have learned from the experience.
    **************
This is our 5th stop of our 13 gay campground 2021 review tour! We were there from July 5 till July 1, 2021.
Our scored campground reviews rate gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender oriented campgrounds on the following important features so that you can be prepared and make informed decisions (on a scale of 1-10):
*Big Rig Friendliness - how easy is it to get to and navigate within the park?
*Grounds and Facilities - what kinds of amenities does the campground have (or not), and what are they like?
*The Vibe - our (totally subjective) take on the ambiance and camp-culture
*Internet Availability - Is there enough Internet via cell hot spots or campground WiFi to do more than scroll Twitter or Facebook?
And NEW in 2021, we also spend some time at the end of the video talking about the nearby amenities such as stores, restaurants and points of interest.
Please like, subscribe, comment, and click the bell to get alerts when we post new videos! Please also consider sharing this with your personal networks to help us get our name out there! We do this out of love for the gay camping lifestyle and community, not to make money. It's a HUGE lift for us, so a quick share from you is most appreciated! :)
Let us know what other campgrounds you'd like to see reviewed, along with any topics relating to camping, gay camping, or full-time RV living. When we're not traveling, we would like to continue to produce content that you find valuable!

I’m so thankful that I belong to The River’s Edge in Dewy Rose, GA. I can honestly say that within the 20+ years I’ve been going there, I’ve never not felt like part of the family. It’s a wonderful place where all are accepted. I’ve been there for multiple trans weekends where many trans people gather for a comfortable, accepting, and educational weekend. The wonderfully built house for the hot tub was actually built but a lovely trans woman that is praised by all that are there. I’ve had drinks and great conversations with the one or two women who have gone there with their gay friends. It’s honestly one of the most laid back places you can go and make lifelong friends.

Eddie, you mentioned that you “got some dry cleaning done”? When we’re on the road there’s nothing on the rig that would require dry cleaning. Otherwise, thanks guys for your time and talents as you share your camping reviews. 👏🏻👍

@@FullTimeGays yes I do. It’s our go to booster and recommended by the folks at Rv mobile internet. If your hotspot has antenna ports. Try Netgear 6000450 MIMO Antenna with 2 TS-9 Connectors from Amazon. Suction cups to the window where you get the best signal. Hope that helps.

    • @FullTimeGays
      @FullTimeGays  2 роки тому +1

@@paulhigdonsmith1580 Nah, not a fit. We'd been there once before (before the era of FTG). The big hill on the dirt road caught us totally off guard. This time we knew about it. The turn in is tight, but totally manageable. The ruts in the roads, the narrowness of the roads are tough but not a huge deal... except at turns. The turns are VERY tight turning onto RV row and then turning onto the exit road on your way out. And since the roads are narrow, it's tough getting the rig turned onto the site. We had the one spot on RV row with the big huge pine tree on the inside corner. I ended up stopping mid back-up and getting on the roof to trim branches from it. Better to ask for forgiveness than permission. :) All that said, though, we really enjoy Jones Pond. No place is perfect, but golly is it gorgeous up there.

I'm guessing that it would possible that many gay, male, clothing-optional private resorts may have to battle city and county regulators and permit requirements just to legally exist and with the constant headlines about city and county disfunctions in dealing with the TRANS community.... I wouldn't be suprised if a county would refuse to grant permits to a clothing-optional private resort for any endless number of reasons, one of which could very easily be related to TRANS people. Because governments are stupid. LOL

Sad but true. The irony is that a fair majority of gay campgrounds are located in conservative areas.

    Women *cannot*
be gay men. It is not hate to say this. Gay men often have great friendships with straight women, but we are not the same. These women can call themselves ‘trans’, they can even get IDs saying that they are male. We love them in any other time and space, but there is something valuable in having a space be for men only, for those of us who love men.

I would welcome Trans men. My ignorance wonders how a Trans man would feel being around so much male on male sexual conversations that tend to come up with large groups of gay men. I wonder if being around gay men is easier for a Trans man to feel comfortable than being around straight men. 🤔 I would think gay men would make for a more welcoming comfortable male atmosphere. I feel that Trans men are our brothers, so of course they should be welcome. Hard to believe anyone in the LGBTQ community would think about excluding someone based on how a person identifies themselves. We all know how it feels to be excluded. It sucks.
