    Vaseline was actually invented to heal cuts. And the creator actually used to cut himself and go around showing how fast his cuts would heal.

      Indeed. I had to have a small skin cancer growth removed from above my upper lip. The dermatologist, to my considerable surprise, had me apply vaseline to it nightly as it was healing--whenever I'd change the bandage.

      Nope, the main usage of vaseline something different. The boxing glove made of heavy leather and its grippy. So with proper angle, even not so powerful punches can cut face like a blade. But when you put vaseline the friction effect minimizes. Its also legal, not a trick :)

    I LIVE by Vaseline. I use their petroleum jelly for my lips and face in particular. I put a layer on at night and wake up to scrub it off. If I'm staying at home, I use it over any other lip balm I carry and apply it throughout the day for super soft lips. I use the lotion for my body. I prefer the Cocoa Butter flavor for both, and my sister prefers the Aloe petroleum jelly, which is a bit thinner. The 7.5oz/212g petroleum jelly container lasts me MONTHS. Like at least 6 months.

    I agree completely. I have a severe incontinence problem. A company called Coloplast sells all sorts of products that prevent skin irritation due to incontinence. Virtually all of their products contain petroleum jelly. Why ??? Because petroleum jelly acts as a barrier to bacteria. My scrotum used to itch and burn incessantly. When I started using just plain petroleum jelly, in time the itch and rash went away. Take it from someone who is incontinent. Although petroleum jelly has some down sides to it, it works wonders for those with severe incontinence.

    When I hop out of the shower I apply vaseline to my feet and put socks on right after. It holds the water in from the shower to keep your feet soft and to prevent calluses. You could also add a few drops of tea tree oil as a natural deodorizer to keep them fresh all day.

    Robert Chesebrough, the inventor, lived to be 96 years old and was such a believer in Vaseline that he claimed to have eaten a spoonful of it every day.[2] He died at his house in Spring Lake, New Jersey.[3] He also, reportedly, during a serious bout of pleurisy in his mid-50s, had his nurse rub him from head to foot with the substance. He soon recovered.[4] He is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in The Bronx, New York City.

    Supposedly, petroleum jelly sold in the US may contain harmful chemicals, but petroleum jelly in the UK is safe. According to Huffington Post article, "Vaseline Petroleum Jelly is highly-refined, triple-purified and regarded as non-carcinogenic and non-comedogenic" so it should be ok to use.

    Some people say that getting Vaseline into your mouth is not good for your health. It gets to your lugs and can favorise fungal infection and bacterial buildup. I wonder if that is correct...

    • @Leigh_Loves_Noise
      @Leigh_Loves_Noise 3 роки тому

      I've heard that it's safe for the mouth but not for the nose as that's how it gets into your lungs. Around the nose is fine, it's just people have been putting it up their nose and that's not safe. Hope this helps!

    I have a real problem with using Vaseline, mostly because I moved away from putting mineral products like that on my skin, even now I can't use it on my lips as they immediately dry out and crack!! I'm a big fan of coconut oil and I watched this thinking, could substitute coconut oil for that...and that... Lol but whatever works for each person I guess!

    • @joywalsh6150
      @joywalsh6150 8 років тому

      +James Welsh ah I'm hyper sensitive to everything! I've been making my own lip balm for the last couple of years, smells amazing and keeps my lips so soft! I've finally managed to get the ratios right, it's made from organic beeswax and coconut oil! I melt it together and pour it into cleaned out Vaseline tins to carry around with me, at least this way I know I'm not eating anything dodgy! Apparently in our lifetimes we eat the equivalent of a couple of stones of lip balm, that's gross, so at least the coconut oil and beeswax is good for you 😋
