    Hey! Few things I need to clear up!
    1) When I say ‘go right into the next product’ it means there is no waiting time :)
    A few recent studies have shown that skincare actually takes about 30 minutes to fully absorb into the skin. Meaning if you wash anything off your skin within 30 mins, they need to be re-applied. So layer it up and let it sink in all together :)
    There are exceptions with things like acne medication and certain vitamin c serums, so read the packaging carefully and do as it says 😜
    2) Oil is at the end because I forgot to mention it so i had to stick it on the end! But sunscreen should ALWAYS be the last step in your routine.

    This has literally been so confusing for me because i never knew how or why people had so many steps to their skincare routine. I honestly thought you just wash your face and put some moisturizer and you're good. Wrong! The past year has really been a turning point in wanting to take care of my skin (the big 30) so I've been dabbling in different skincare products and was thoroughly confused on when and how to apply toners, serums, and had no idea there was a such thing as cleansing oils and balms. Seriously, who would have thought that to clean your face you would slather it with grease?! But let me just say, watching this video has clarified a lot for me. I just followed this process and my skin feels so amazing right now! Thank you for this video and I look forward to seeing more!

      Ikr?? I’ve always had an interest in skincare, since my skin was not the kindest to me throughout my teens, but I only ever really honed in on acne treatment - not realizing that the cause was DEHYDRATION lol The acne was caused by lack of moisture, so all that zapping at the acne was only moderately helping the active breakouts and helping to create a breeding ground for more. Holy grails always lost efficacy, I constantly bounced between clear and radiant or absolutely cracked, flakey, painful and mildly cystic mess. My healing period transformed when I figured this out, and also that ‘double cleansing’ did not just mean literally washing your face twice lmao I probably had so much makeup residue chillen under moisturizing without realizing.

      Yes! and another thing I have been telling everyone younger than me is make sure you are moisturizing your ear lobes because I have noticed that (now in my 50's) mine are getting old and wrinkly and I wish I had included them in my skin care routine when I was younger. And for ladies (don't know if it applies to men) make sure you carry your skin care down onto your decolletage because that skin is thin and looks "old" faster than your face does.

    I am like an oil factory in monsoon season.. and i dont do makeup, just the kohl and lipstick. So i guess there is no need for oil based cleanser?? Also my routine for AM is like cleaning toning and sunscreen (gel based, which moisterises my skin as well) cant apply anything after that, no moisteriser, no serums. For PM i do the cleansing water based, then physical exfoliation, masking three times a week, toning, then serum which i also apply lil under my eyes. No night mask, no eye creams. I have accepted my racoon eyes as hereditary 😓. But my skin is fairly good even if i am touching 40! 🙄🤭 summer and winter skin care is totally different.which works good for me!! I will try to add niacinamide in my routine, may be serum switch over is the need of the hr for me!! You are a real blessing James, all the honest info and what works for whom.

    I still don't understand the difference between an essence and a serum 😌

    • @nishataamir6589

      Essence and serum are basically the same thing but not, essence are (usually) thinner than serum. Serums have more concentrated formula then essence

    • @bangtansonyeondan6778
      @bangtansonyeondan6778 5 років тому

      Serums have a higher concentration of active ingredients whereas essences are lighter so if u have sensitive skin u might wanna use an essance instead of a serum as it can be too strong. If u r new to skincare it's best to start off with an essance to prepare ur skin for serums later on.

      I would suggest a body exfoliator or scrub. Get one of those glove scrubs and if you can't reach it, get the natural loofah as they are better than the plastic ones (also, for the environment). Try using a soap with tea tree oil as it helps with the breakouts.

    I found the magic moisturizer recently! That is the Japanese Hada labo hydraulic acid milky moisturizer. It is really light just like some type of essence but surprisingly moisturizing to withstand the harsh winter where I live, some time it could be -28 out and extremely dry that my wet clothes would dry overnight. And I have combination/sensitive/ winter dehydrated skin type, I have been struggling for the past two years to find the right moisturizer for myself but this one just works so magically for me!! If u can do a review on that it would be great!! And I also use the whitening version of that moisturizer over night.

    • @hollywebster6844
      @hollywebster6844 5 років тому +14

      When my skin gets confused, I take it back to the basics. Morning: rinse with tepid water, then one layer of toner, then SPF. Evening: oil cleanse, water cleanse, then one layer toner and moisturizer. After a day, I can tell what I need to add in. I add one product or step at a time over the next few days. For example, I have dry skin that loves layers of hydrating toner. That is the first step I add back in. Listen to your skin. Feel it with your hands, think about how it feels without being touched, observe it up close in bright light. Finally, remember that it can take months to tell if a product is really helping and usually just a few uses to tell if the product is making your skin worse. Hope this helps!

    Such a clever video to think of James. Have been trying to figure out these exact things! I seem to know a lot about skin care but get easily confused/conflicted with the basics of how it should be done.. Especially with liquid BHA's - I find I need to let it absorb 5-10 minutes before applying, so it conflicts with needing somewhat damp skin for serums that are enhanced by damp/moisture (e.g. hyaluronic acid)
